@carries2018 I thought awhile back, before the shower was mentioned, to make a registry Just for the discounts. But now that it has been brought up, I don't want people searching for one and thinking that's what we expect.
If people ask, maybe I'll just tell them gift cards.
I HAD COFFEE THIS MORNING YOU GUYS!!! First day coffee hasn't smelled like literal dogsh*t in 3 months. I used to be a 3-cups-a-day kind of girl so this is a momentous occasion. Maybe I'll even be a productive person today!
@curlyq423 I think if someone offers it's totally fine! People love to shower mommas-to-be and to buy cute clothes for babies. Personally I think it's kind of rude to turn down an offer for a shower if someone insists on wanting to have one. I'd make a registry but wouldn't mention it unless someone specifically asks. That way the folks (like me) that prefer to buy things the person actually wants have something to go on!
Early August sounds good! One of my neighbor's friends that was pregnant with twins had her shower scheduled at 38 weeks (whaaat?!?) and ended up going into labor and missing the shower. Definitely don't wait anywhere near that long!
@curlyq423 you can make your registry non-searchable through Target, if the idea of having one bothers you. That's what I do, it's just my list of things I like and then I get to enjoy the perks of it too
@TallMomma29 Go buy the mixes. Pour in mix, add water or milk, microwave, done. It was delish.
I ended up buying 2 of these last night, the confetti cake and brownie. The cake was good but I should have bought a can of icing to go with it to make it even better!
@curlyq423 I would register for diapers and wipes too. Something to have on there that isn't too expensive, and something you will most certainly need a lot of!
Random: I haven't been participating nearly as much as I was, because I actually have the motivation to clean/organize these days! I'll take it haha. Pregnancy was really taking a toll on the housework! If I didn't have this annoying cold, I would probably have the whole house cleaner than ever!
I have such a bad headache, and it's because I'm too lazy to get up and make coffee. DH has spoiled me by making it every morning and now that he is out of town I don't know what to do with myself. HALP

Hello ladies! Just catching up on this thread while I ignore the progress notes I need to write. So many fun random things going on in everyone's lives!
I'm about to order a listeria sandwich from Jimmy John's. Can't wait!
I was just wondering when I should start my registry. DH and I were thinking we would wait until we know the sex of the baby, which is on May 16th. I'm 17 weeks and 1 day today.
@ariz17 as a FTM, I would start it now. There are so many things to research and figure out what exactly you want. Plenty of stuff that's not gender specific to get started on. It took me just about the whole pregnancy to get it all on my list. Monitor is what took me so freaking long to narrow down. It can be overwhelming trying to do it all at once.
@carries2018 this is our current monitor, it's probably not the greatest out there now but I liked that it offered 100% privacy claiming it couldn't be hacked. When DD was born there were several cases of people hacking monitors and watching/talking to babies. I'm sure there are more like that now days. I spent weeks pouring over info and reading all the reviews. This time we are just having to get the extra camera.
@ariz17 I mean, you can start it now for things that aren't necessarily gender-neutral that you want to put on there. And if you're planning on having more, it might be a good idea to put some gender neutral things on there just in case the next one is the opposite
Diapers, nursing supplies (if that's something you're going to try), bath stuff, etc. Might as well start now and you can always add to it once you find out boy or girl

At what age did you take the monitor out of your kid's room? DD is 3, will be almost 4 when baby comes. But I still have the monitor in her room so I can hear when she's crying/not asleep when she should be/etc. Trying to decide if we should get a cheap thing to put in her room and switch the monitor to baby's room or if it's time to let her be a big girl and come get us if she needs us. Note - our bedroom is on a different floor, so stairs would be involved, hence my hesitation.

@natleilynn DD1 will be 4 and i have no intentions of taking it out. it isnt so much for safety as it is keeping an eye on when she actually goes to sleep. there were a few weeks where i was waiting for our monitor to get fixed and i didnt have one. it really made no difference at all. our house is small enough to hear, and it was kind of nice not being shackled to it. so i dunno i guess my point is, either way is fine. whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Wondering the same thing. I don't feel ready to take the monitor out, so I'm wondering if we should get a second one or just buy one with two cameras.
@carries2018 We have a Motorola one that has worked great. Not sure what model or anything though.
Our monitor was a POS and broke so DS has been without one for several months. He's 2. It's fine since we can hear him but there are times when he's making noise that I wish I could see what he was doing. I'll probably get a new one that has two cameras.
I got my Amazon welcome box on Saturday and I completely forgot to mention what was in it. - A full pack of Huggies natural wipes - A swaddle blanket - Travel sized baby lotion (Aveeno) and baby wash (Dove) - A sample diaper (I forget the brand, one of the crunchy ones) - A 4oz Avent bottle - A clutch thing where you put one or two diapers and a few wipes. My sister said it's for times where you're out and about and don't want to lug the whole diaper bag to the bathroom to change baby - Nursing pads -Travel sized nipple cream
I'm pretty sure that was it. I was hoping for a bottle of prenatals but I'll take what I can get.

fffc i keep getting excited about new posts on the sex thread. adn then i see it is someone i don't know who they are and i am disappointed bc i dont care.
All of this.
@curlyq423 I think accepting the shower is fine! Your guests will be thrilled to be involved in a celebration for your twins- twins are so exciting. Also, I'm team registry just because some people might get stressed about picking out gifts on their own. As long as you have plenty of low dollar options on there, you'll be good!
Guys, I'm super pumped! Anyone else fans of the Outlander series? Diana Gabaldon is doing a reading and book signing here tomorrow night and a friend and I got tickets!!!! And I get to go out on a school night! That never happens!!!
I know I'm late to the party, but I have a funny contacts story. I met SO in the 90s, when coloured contacts were a big thing. Back then, SO had these striking green eyes. I loved them. Well, he and I went our separate ways (we were just friends then), and when I ran into him again, years later, he looked way different. I asked him why he had blue eyes all of a sudden. He looked at me funny and said his eyes had always been blue. I said, no, your eyes are green. He burst out laughing. I guess I was the only one of our friends who hadn't figured out that he had coloured contacts. Oops.
@pizzamonster3 oh gosh I just watched the Jimmy Kimmel segment and could not stop tearing up. What a scary thing to have to go through.

D*amn it @carries2018 I was being all good and avoiding that thread because we have at least 8 more weeks until our a/s. But you had me curious about all the randos so I looked and now I'm over here texting DH about elective scans in our area and how much that will cost. Major FOMO here!
@natleilynn I'm not planning on taking the monitor out until they leave for college... that's normal, right?? But seriously... I don't have any plans to stop monitoring until around 4-5. Moreso for being able to tell what they are doing in there (and be the voice of God to tell them to get back in their beds) than for safety/MOTN wake up reasons.
@TallMomma29 I mean, I don't WANT to take the monitor out but I didn't know if I was being too much of a helicopter mom either haha. I think I can justify it simply on the fact that she's on a different floor than us and would have to do stairs if she needed something.
On hot days, I've already been breaking out my fake rings. haha Best $11 I spent last pregnancy.

@mrs_fogue Dramomine for me or DS? Isn't that used for travel sickness? I could perhaps ask the pediatrician about phenergen since DS will be over 2. Haha yes 10hours sounds reasonable to me because to get out of Australia always takes a long time.
