desperatemom we are all different and there are no answers and what doesn't work for some does work for others. I did get my bfp of twins on a 3dt, I just didn't carry them to term even though I did have a healthy normal embryo in there. We are trying for so long we really want to have a healthy baby so when it doesn't happen you assume that they weren't healthy. My RE has mentioned its 50 on your body and 50 on the embryo. Why people that use a PGS normal embryos still can get a bfn. Its a miracle every time!

You are absolutely right, it is a miracle every single time @hopefulmom, I know there are lots of times 2dt and 3dt works and lots of times it doesn't. I am so sorry for your loss. fx to sticky bfp soon. since 3dt didn't work for me I am just hoping 5/6dt will.
@Hopeful_mom It absolutely is a miracle every single time!! And what works for one won't necessarily work for someone else. We used a healthy normal embryo which the RE said had a 70% chance and it implanted but who knows why it didn't become a baby..
@desperatemom Hopefully you'll have better luck with a frozen cycle vs fresh and with a 5/6dt..

@Hopeful_mom I'm so sorry. That just sucks. While no consultation but at least you don't risk another loss by using those embryos untested. Sometimes it's just a numbers game. I have faith you will get some normals this time.
AFM, pushing the FET back another cycle. I'm getting some advanced testing done and after speaking to the doc it isn't worth rushing just to save 1 cycle of time. I only prepped estrogen for 3 days so I just stopped. Also the nurse didn't tell me this but the RE is on vacay the entire FET cycle and coming back on the actual transfer day. Not cool with me so I would have postponed anyway after talking with her.
Happy Easter everyone! It always makes me a little sad - I try to stay off FB so I don't have to see all the cute egg hunts and family pics. I don't even have nieces or nephews to play with Maybe next year will be different... I start Lupron injections tonight. Onward and upward!

@Ash_SE congrats on the PGS results, 5/8 sounds fantastic! What type of progesterone are you going to do? It's interesting to see the different protocols.
I am almost done with my hormones (estradiol and aygestin until Wednesday) then wait for AF before officially starting the FET cycle. I'm excited May is almost here, but feeling nervous about starting after waiting for so long!

Hello and happy Monday! I am joining you guys - I just learned on Friday that my transfer will be pushed back a week and should now take place on May 1!
I'm in a little bit of a different boat than most of you all since I am using frozen donor eggs that will be thawed next week and fertilized with DH's sperm. So it'll actually be a fresh embryo transfer. But, I am in the same boat when it comes to the mix of hope and anxiety!
We are still TTC #1 - it's been a long, hard road to get here. We have had five losses and I will be 39 in May and DH will be 34 later this year. I am currently taking estrace (2 tabs, 3x day) and while they said my lining was looking good (already over 8) at my U/S on Friday, they still wanted to give me another week. I will start PIO the day before DH goes in to make his contribution.
I added my name to the spreadsheet. I love data. Excited to share this path with you all!

hbomb513 i hope you got to enjoy your holiday. I find that many fun family celebrations get harder and harder for sure, you're not alone! I have nieces and nephews and that actually makes it harder at times. On top of it being SO EASY for the others to have them boom boom boom! Its amazing you hear the stories of how people conceive and they say it really was just the one time that month we had sex....and I"m in the background, yea I WISH is was that simple!
kaseycoco your FET will be here before u know it yay!
@Ash_SE Im trying to keep the faith its just coming more difficult. Each time you think you're closer and then you realize you've taken two steps back. I'm very impressed with you're decision of pushing things back, going with your gut is important! I feel like i've been with my clinic for some time now and OH likes one of the other RE better then mine so its ok if others have to do my procedures and such.
Hoping10 I'm sorry it didn't work and thats the extra added frustration with the testing for sure! Its amazing you got such great results from your first ivf cycle, how wonderful! Do you know the genders as well! Are you transfering one or two this next round?
AFM: Spoke with my RE as I'm still a bit at a loss. She told me all my questions are valid and they still dont have all the answers. Science has come such a long way its so frustrating that its all still so expensive and hard. She also mentioned that day 5 testing should have less mosiac normals then a 3 day testing would. Still moving forward with this cycle and we'll see how it goes. My US showed 2 measurable follies on the right and left and i guess the others stopped growing. Hoping the tech made a mistake and theres 2 good ones that are hiding. I'm hoping they can at least see 6 so i don't have to question about whether to cancel the cycle altogether...these months of meds are killing me!

Hi everyone! This is my first ever post here. Don't have time to write to each of you individually (at work, ugh) but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you!
I had my ER on 4/9 and they pulled 49 eggs. (My AMH is 9.8 but I've never been diagnosed with PCOS . . . labs are always normal and I ovulate regularly.) Out of those, 35 were mature and 27 fertilized normally. Early on Day 5, three had made it to blast (4BB, 4BB, 4AC) and they were watching another 12. But I guess only another three made it on Day 6 (5AC, 4BC, 5CA). All have been biopsied for PGS testing. This is the worst most tortuous wait of my life. I am 32 with no known issues, so I am really hoping that we get some normies!
FET should be around May 4, as I am starting on Estrace tonight.
Hi all! Finally had my follow up appointment with my RE on the PGS testing. We had one normal, but based on all of the detailed results, he thinks 2 may be false negatives. The only real detail I remember is that one had half a chromosome missing, but RE said if it was, the embryo would not have made it to blast and with such high quality. He spent a lot of time explaining the testing process and we left feeling super informed. We are transferring one on May 25th and freezing the other two provided no thaw issues. So I will just be reading all of your updates until then!!
@JESSABER0414 ::::Lurking:::: I had twins from IVF in 2012. As we are trying for another kid we really would prefer only 1 (nothing wrong with twins). We started with 11 not tested embryos. This is what we have done we thaw 2, do the latest transfer of the day and make the decision right before going into the transfer room as to if we do 1 or 2. We make that decision based on how well they have thawed and how well they are expanding. We have transferred 1 and watched the other for 24 hrs to refreeze and we have also transferred both. Just a suggestion. This is kinda our negotiation with each other. I figure I've done it once and we have survived so I can do it again so lets go with 2 my DH is adamant on only transferring 1 he's almost 40 and tired lol.

@thucks thanks, I might throw that out there. My DH will be 40 and we don't have any kids, so he feels all this pressure to have 2 at once so he doesn't have to go through all this again in 2-3 years. But I just had a co-worker have a very sad traumatic event in her pregnancy with twins leaving her in bad shape and with 1 24 weeker, so I kept letting that creep in to my brain. Sigh...

Hoping10 you know thats a very good question, i'm not sure if their success rates. RE did tell me 9 out of 10 people do leave with a baby. We joked that i was going in the success rate column and with twins as she didn't think it was possible...so its sad it ended.
whitebarley congrats on a great report! The wait is never fun, hoping u get a lot of normies back and ready to go!
thucks aw great success story thanks for sharing! Funny how the men only want to transfer 1 and us strong ladies want to go for 2! My OH will not let me transfer more then 1. I first need normal embabaies to even get back in the game ugh!
JESSABER0414 ugh you just gave me chills! If you're friend is still caring a healthy baby shes very lucky, hoping she has continued success!

@hopefulmom No, she's not, but it's a long depressing story and I'm a nurse, so it doesn't help alleviate anxieties.
Afm: started the estradiol patches this am. After much back and forth with the retail pharmacy, re office and insurance, i just said screw it and paid OOP. I'm focusing on better results that will be worth the extra in the long run. But, it's ridiculous the hoops we have to go through and explanations for 2 weeks of meds. One of the pharmacists is our neighbor right behind us, he helped me and then said "my sister used embryo adoption". Well, small world....so now he is the only other person besides my boss that knows we have started drugs.

@Hopeful_mom we tested 5. Only 1 came back normal. One of the blasts was a 4AA and it came back as missing a chromosome. I forget which. RE said that missing that particular chromosome cannot sustain life. Because the embryo made it to day 5 and was good quality, he believes it was a false positive. I forget the detail of the other, but it was similar. RE explained the sample size is so small they have to reproduce it 30+ time in order to test. The initial replication can be erroneous and cause a false positive. The remaining 2 embryos had a number of other issues and it was quite clear. My RE uses Good Start. It was quite interesting!
@whitebarley - welcome! FX that you'll get a good amount back from testing! I'm also 32, and the 2 weeks waiting for the results sucked, but once they came back, i knew I was just that much more close to the transfer!
It's exciting to see everyone progressing! So many starting the pills and patches, yay! I saw some of you have put down your info/transfer date on the spreadsheet...here's the link again:
AFM, I just got the call from insurance that they approved me for the FET! yay! I just left a message with my RE to see if they can get the prescription out asap for the estrace and PIO (since for the stims cycle, it was almost a full week between CVS Caremark receiving the order and the meds getting delivered) and AF is supposed to show this weekend, and CVS's "local pharmacy" is closed on Saturday and Sunday! Oh, my nerves!
Hi Ladies ER is tomorrow yay! I was typing earlier and had the worst stomach pain ever and i had to lay down....I'm blaming it on the soft serve ice cream I had...OH wanted it and I pay dearly for it. He right away was telling me to call the RE thinking something is wrong with my ovaries, that's all i would need. AFM: Was a lil concerned with my folliles as some measured a lil smaller then the day before. My ES has gone up to 1495 hoping thats a good thing and i have maturing follies! Right now it looks like 6 are in the running so really hope that at least those will pull through and be my strong golden eggs! I took some extra gonal F a lil earlier today so hopefully that will help mature all!! Literally just took my trigger shot yay!! ER will be way too early friday morning! I'm exhausted! Still have to go back to the clinic for more bw tomorrow
caseyw8784 YAY insurance came through you're one step closer!! I didn't add my name to the spread sheet as I now have no clue what is happening let me first get some normies back and take it from there
Angelaag Does that mean he wants to retest the other 2 cause he thinks they're normal? I did way to much research on the gene missing and i had an extra 12, so i originally thought, an extra couldn't be that bad right, wrong, reading up on all of this was not cute. It really is amazing how life is created all those millions of cells!
JESSABER0414 my heart just sank, i'm so sorry, that poor girl!! I'm sure being a nurse is harder in this situation. In the ER the dr and nurses were just so upset for me especially the MC I was having. They try to be there for you and you have no clue how they're affected by it.

Hello everyone! I can't believe that Im on an IVF board now. After 3 unsuccessful IUI's we decided to move forward to IVF. I have an unexplained infertility at the age of 29. I am not sure If my Transfer will be in May but Id like to stay around.
I am really fascinated by everyone in this group, you are all so strong! I seriously can't imagine how you go/went through this. All tips are welcome.
I have my retrieval next week and the meds/shots Im taking are making me mental. I think Im leaving my job because I can't take the pressure.
Im happy Im not alone, but also sad for all of us, no woman who wants a child deserves it. From the bottom of my heart, I wish your dreams will come true very very soon.

@Cinnamonn welcome! It's tough to go this process for sure. I also couldn't believe it when I started IVF as it's such a whirlwind once you start with an RE.
@Hoping10 do you know how long after your hysteroscopy your transfer will be? I had one at the end of May and also felt like the wait from ER to hysteroscopy was sooo long.
AFM due to some scheduling conflicts at work I am going to have to stay on hormones for a few more days to avoid a conflict with work and transfer. I am relatively new at my job and haven't shared with anyone that I'm doing IVF. I'm a teacher and we get offered contracts for the next year each June and although I know legally they couldn't withhold an offer because of a pregnancy, I still worry about it. There's so many things to stress about and I'm trying to remain calm I'm so happy that we are starting to get some spring weather.
Is anyone doing anything fun to keep themselves busy?

And so we all meet again! I recognize some of you from previous boards, I'm sorry we are all here in the first place, but thankful someone understands! We did IVF w/ICSI in February and did a fresh cycle with 1 "perfect" embryo. Negative beta at 11dp5dt. went for 10+ weeks without a period, started on 3/30 and began gearing up for our FET with estradiol 3x/day! Last week had uterine lining check and was only at 4.4mm. Recommended I add one tab vaginally at pm until today's appt. lining was still only at 6.3. Dr wanted it above 8 so cycle is cancelled. I'm bummed, almost feeling numb to this stuff. In the back of my mind I had an optimistic but realistic thought. I start Provera this evening and continue that and Estradiol 3x/day orally for 7 days. Stop both at the same time on day 8 and call office with Day 1. I will learn my new protocol next Wednesday. Has anyone been on Provera? Anything I need to know or be concerned with? Hang in there ladies, one day we too will have our precious babies!!
@krenee124 I've done provera twice for 10 days with no side effects. I had a horrible experience with Prometrium so now if I need to start a period it's either provera or the pill.
@kaseycoco I think transfer will be about 2-3 weeks after hysteroscopy..nothing but waiting ha! Although nothing has been worse than the wait between transfer and beta! Just torture..
@krenee124 I'm so sorry! That's all so frustrating!! Hope the new protocol won't be better for you!

We have 5 more frozen embryos. We did not do any PGS testing, just ICSI. Our RE rates them on a scale though and supposedly they're all "beautiful" do they all say that! Haha
we will be transferring 2 this time with assisted hatching.
@Hopeful_mom good luck tomorrow! Be nice to yourself afterwards..I remember feeling like the time post retrieval was so much worse than pre-retrieval! I couldn't sit right for two days my belly was so swollen.
@Cinnamonn Sometimes I can't believe I'm on this board too. I'm 36, we've been trying for years with unexplained infertility, and this is my first IVF cycle. I think it's the most frustrating "diagnosis", right? I'm healthy, I eat well, I do yoga, I stay away from phthalates, blah blah blah...meanwhile I took care of a preemie in the NICU whose mom had given birth to her high on crack..in an alley..behind a Walmart. I kid you not. But everyone has their own journey, and if we can be grateful for small things, at least you have time on your side.
@krenee124 I'm so sorry about your cancelled cycle. I'm praying the same thing doesn't happen to me since I pushed for the short cycle instead of the long one (45 vs 60 days). DH works out of town most of the time, and I really wanted him to be here...Awesome you have five good embies though!!
I took my last BCP tonight, woot! Just Lupron for now until I start ALL the estrogen next week (I'm gonna be a legit crazy lady...).
"Expectation is the mother of all frustration" -Antonio Banderas
@hbomb513- yayyy for the last bcp! For how long are u on Lupron? I have 11 more days of bcp and my RE said only one shot of lupron(???) I am a little confused here, how does Lupron help here... from what I understand, af should arrive 4-7 days after stopping bcp. Then on cd2 the estrogen for building up the lining right ?? And transfer should be around 14+5(5dt fet) around 19 cd?? I am just trying to see if my transfer will happen in may or not . Hope I am not sounding stupid.
@krenee124i am so sorry for the cancelled cycle, though I don't have any advice, just wanted to say good luck for those beaaaauutiifuuiuuulllll embryos !
hi folks just go home from ER and I got 7 woo hoo! She said they all look good so praying this can be my golden bunch! They could not get my IV in my arm and had to put it in my hand which definitely was not fun, made the process hurt a bit more. So far the cramping isn't as bad as last time which is great but my head is still hurting and this nausea is not cute, hopefully a nap will help!
Does the trigger shot make you gain more weight? Never thought of it much but just in 3 days i gained another 5lbs it just doesn't seem right

@Hopeful_mom - woo-hoo! yay for 7! FX that they'll all fertilize when you get the report tomorrow! When I had my ER they couldn't get the IV in my arm either, so they had to use my hand too. Didn't hurt too bad, but I was sporting a nice bruise for a week or so!
AFM, I got the estrace tablets this morning! Since AF is due any moment, they were able to send the estrace and the z-pak to the local CVS pharmacy (like any other normal prescription) but had to send the PIO through CVS Caremark. But, since I won't be needing that for more than a week, I don't mind waiting for Caremark to be PITAs and take their slow sweet time... Now, hurry up, AF!
@Hopeful_mom my RE explained it that the trigger shot makes those follicles plump up and finish their maturation! For retrieval and post retrieval you will hold lots of fluid so the weight is hopefully that! Drink warmed chicken broth & eat lots of sodium! I was definitely bloated for a few weeks! Still am actually but think it's from the rest of the hormonal meds. It did go down tho a bit!!
@Hopeful_mom 7 Congrats! FX for a great fertilization report! When they did mine, they didn't even attempt my arm for the IV- straight to the hand, ouch!!

@hopefulmom- 7 is a good number!!!! Congratulations!!!! Fx for a good report! They went into the hand for iv, and it really did hurt. I could feel a slight discomfort while moving my hand for a few days.
I feel sneaky. So I had mentioned that my RE's policy is not to tell what sex the embryos are until you get a positive beta....well, we just got a summary report in the mail from the genetics lab...and they tell all the info!
Our 2 tested normal embryos - one boy and one girl! The other 2 that were tested...the 3rd was a boy that did not have the single gene disorder but was chromosomally abnormal (the reports puts it "45, XY, -21"....I'm assuming that's trisomy 21?) and the 4th embryo was a chromosomally normal girl, but was affected with the single gene disorder...
so, yay! i guess? knowing the sexes makes them seem a bit more "real"...y'know? We're heading to my parents house for the weekend...they live in florida 6 months out of the year and in rhode island for the summer, so we're taking advantage of their RI place while they're not there still...! Happy weekend everyone!

I start Lupron injections tonight. Onward and upward!

Hope everyone is having a good Hump Day!

We have 5 more frozen embryos. We did not do any PGS testing, just ICSI. Our RE rates them on a scale though and supposedly they're all "beautiful"
we will be transferring 2 this time with assisted hatching.

Does the trigger shot make you gain more weight? Never thought of it much but just in 3 days i gained another 5lbs it just doesn't seem right

They went into the hand for iv, and it really did hurt. I could feel a slight discomfort while moving my hand for a few days.
