    @kmoore6886 I am so sorry. I hope that day by day you and your DH will begin to heal as you go through the grieving process. It's crushing to face a loss like this. One quote that helped me at times when I felt like there was no hope and I was at rock bottom was this one: "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end." -John Lennon. I hope it might give you some comfort too. My heart aches for what you're going through. Sending you prayers.

    Thank you ladies. I am looking for guidance. My doctor told me I could have a d&c, miscarry naturally, or take the medication to induce the miscarriage. All of them scare me for different reasons. If any of you have had prior losses what did you do? With my first (chemical pregnancy) it happened naturally. I wasn't that far along, my beta only reached 185 and then started going down. It was just like having a period. Any advice?

    @kmoore6886 I've done both a D&C and miscarried naturally. The D&C was around 10 wks and the natural MC around 6 wks. The D&C provided me with that feeling of needing to take action right away and being able to do so, but my hormones were so mixed up afterwards and it took a handful of cycles to get back to a hormonal normal. I had no complications with the procedure itself, though it was more emotional than going through it naturally at home (just being back under sedation for yet another procedure, this one with no good outcome). With my MC, it occurred about 5 days after stopping meds and was like a heavier, more painful period (the worst of which only lasted a few hours). After that ran it's course though, I felt like my body regulated back to normal better than with the D&C. Keep in mind, I also had near peak HCG levels at the time of D&C vs around 5300 at the time I stopped meds so that probably played a role.
    It's such an awful personal choice to have to make and every situation is unique.  I hope that you and your DH will do what you feel is right for your mind & body right now.

    @momurph thank you for sharing your story, I am sorry for your losses. After speaking with the nurses I have decided to let it happen naturally.

    @kmoore6886 ****TW I had a natural mc but because hcg lingered over 10000, I was given cytotec to take on a weekend. Because of the anticipated bad cramping .  It wasn't bad, but wasn't helpful. Thankfully i Ended up with a clear us and hcg over 2 months after last pio. I was ok with the natural at the time, but it took so long and I wish it didn't have to. My dr. Gave this recommendation because there was no baby/fetal pole and it was over at 5w3d, plus d&c has risks.********* Good luck and thoughts with you in this most difficult decision.

    @kmoore6886 I am so sorry!!!

    ***TW***
    at 7w 4d my dr told me this would not be a viable pregnancy and also gave me the same 3 options. I waited for it to happen naturally. Then at 8w 4d when there was also no HB the dr recommended that I either wait for the weekend and take the pill or schedule an MUA (similar to d&c but no general anesthesia). Since I wanted so much for it to happen naturally, we scheduled the MUA for a week later with the hope it would happen naturally. (I was terrified of the pill).

    I ended up having he MUA as it didn't happen naturally. HCG levels went down 2 months later and I started prep for the next FET just to find out few weeks later (after 3 weeks of Lupron injections) that I need to have hysteroscopy to remove leftovers of embryo tissues that still remain! FET was cancelled, I had the hysteroscopy.. I'm on antibiotics for 2 weeks now and hoping to start prep for next FET tomorrow!

    @kmoore6886  I see that you have decided to do the natural way and I hope that works for you but I wanted to share my story as physically I was in so much pain and shoulddve had the D&C much sooner then i did!!  I was pregnant with twins and MC at about 10wks I lost way too much blood in the ER (friday into a saturday) so thats why I assume they didn't do the D&C, so they gave me more medication to help any left come out.  I lost so much I didn't think there was ore but there was!!  My HCG was well over 14,000 after the MC as well.  I was in agony and terribly cramping for days!  The pain meds didn't help as I still had placenta left (they didn't know it was placenta till the D&C) that was trying to pass.  The dr continued to let me suffer expecting it to come out on its own with more meds and the pain was awful!  When I say i was up through the entire not in pain, it isn't an exaggeration.  For some reason everything was worse during the night.  My DR wouldve done the D&C BUT it was a friday and the surgery was closed till monday.  I was the first one back monday morning, and I wouldve been in the ER sooner if I wasn't already scheduled for the D&C.  Unfortunately for me things were not passing but there was 4cm that was just stuck.  I'm only going into such detail because the pain was insane.  In that moment I really never thought I would continue on this journey again!  It doesn't sound like a lot but the agony it caused was unreal.  I have a strong threshold for pain I should add as well.  I'm sharing my experience so you shouldn't allow yourself to be in too much pain.  Was i pain free after the D&C, NO!  But my body did at least start to heal and thats what I needed.  I suffered so for no reason, my loss was hard enough.  And yes having twins meant it was double the pleasure of everything.  Hoping you're body and soul will heal quickly!!

    Ladies I appreciate you all sharing your experiences with me and I am sorry you had to go through it.
    @Hopeful_mom I am surprised your doctor didn't insist on a D&C with twins.

    Have any of you ladies had RPL blood work?  If so did they find anything?  I heard it is expensive but I feel it is worth it because this is my second loss in a row. I wish my clinic had better explained the genetic testing on the embryos. If I would have known that it could prevent me from having miscarriages I would have done it. The financial counselor is the one that brought it up and she told my husband and me that people usually do it if they have a family history of genetic diseases for example sickle cell. To our knowledge my husband and I do not have any genetic disorders on either side and I'm only 31 so we didn't think we needed to do it. I told one of the doctors at my clinic that I wish a doctor or a nurse had better explained the genetic testing on the embryos and his response was he apologized and he told me that typically women my age did not do the genetic testing. I feel they dropped the ball and I'm upset and disappointed. I have one embryo left but I have no idea if it is normal or not.

    @kmoore6886 I'm so so sorry that the clinic didn't necessarily do right by you- it is completely understandable to feel so upset. I don't have experience with RPL blood work, but just wanted to tell you my experience with genetic testing on embryos. I am also 31 and my dr gave us the option for the testing- she said it wasn't totally necessary because of my age but said it could be possible that egg quality is why we were having trouble getting pregnant. We are not carriers for genetic diseases so I was more concerned with the random abnormalities like Down's syndrome. We chose to do the testing to cover our bases. Did you ask your dr's opinion on RPL? Do they think it's worth doing now?

    @kmoore6886

    Regarding Genetic Testing - DH and I had our own karyotyping done to make sure that we weren't carriers for anything, but we still wanted to have our embryos tested. When my first (natural) pregnancy resulted in MC, we had that tissue tested after D&C and learned that the cause was chromosomal (Turner's syndrome/monosomy X). That pregnancy happened to occur the month before we were planned to begin IVF#1. Upon learning the cause of the MC, I was pretty set on going forward with genetic testing on the embryos in hopes of avoiding a repeat of what we'd just gone through. My Dr at that time told me that chromosomal abnormalities account for nearly 70% of first trimester MCs :(
    Our IVF#1 resulted in 2 frozen "normals," neither of which were successful, so still there's of course no guarantee (not that there is in ANY part of this process). For what it's worth, I feel like we simply got a better batch of embryos overall with IVF#2 (new clinic, new protocol), resulting in 5 frozen "normals."

    Regarding RPL-I had the RPL panel done after FET#1 miscarried (my second MC). Everything came back normal, but I'm glad I had it done to dot my "i's" and cross my "t's" so to speak. At that time we only had one genetically tested frozen embryo left and I wanted to do anything in my power to give FET#2 a better chance. Unfortunately, FET#2 resulted in BFN with that tested embryo.
    After that we switched to another clinic to begin IVF#2, again with genetic testing.

    Also, if you're considering the Beta3 Integrin test, you might want to look into the ERA test instead/in addition, as it's supposedly more comprehensive.

    @kmoore6886 I am so sorry for your loss. :cry: I unfortunately know your pain this month. We did not do the genetic testing on our embryos. we too were given the options of D&C, cytotec, and natural. I stopped all progesterone and estrogen support and started spotting. 3 days after finding out there was no heartbeat, I used the Cytotec. I had an ultrasound the next day and could see I passed the gestational sac, but there was still a lot of tissue. My dr said once my hcg level is at zero (the day of my u/s it was 23,000) (I had it tested again today - (10 days past Cytotec) and haven't gotten results yet) I could expect my period to start 6-8 weeks later. I'm hope you're doing okay. :heart:

    @krenee124 I am so sorry for your loss as well. I just feel hopeless and that I will never know the joy of having a child because this is my second miscarriage in a row. In time I know it will get easier and I know I do have a lot to be thankful for. I hope you are doing okay and I hope we both get our babies one day.

    @kmoore6886 I have been away, but still wanted to chime in on this now that I am back to the boards. I am so sorry that you and @krenee124 have had to face a loss this cycle. It is devastating.

    As far as RPL and genetic karotype testing, I definitely recommend it. RPL panel means different things in different clinics, and of course the costs vary widely based on coverage and insurance provider, but it has the potential to provide valuable information that can inform your next steps. Egg quality is a big issue and is tested for in a variety of ways and even though it's more commonly an issue in older women, age is not the determining factor.

    I am keeping you in my thoughts. I believe that you will get to know the joy of having a child, but it may not be a straight path from here to there. Keep faith and hope in your heart. It's a challenge to maintain optimism in the face of such grief, but better times are ahead of you.

    Sending you lots of internet hugs and love. xo

    fivetimesnoluck what other tests show egg quality?  I have a friend going through IVF and she things I should go for more opinions as I shouldve have more heathy embryos by this point.  I'm thrilled I have something, and I'm doing very similar protocols to many on here so I found it surprising she has such strong opinion on it.  I asked her where her thoughts were 4months ago.  I've been looking into an immunology specialist but have to google rpl.  I"ve been starring at the computer for about 14hrs now so today wont be that day....and i'm sitting here looking at the board for a break - ha!

    @hopeful_mom from my chart, it looks like my RE used CD 3 test for FSH and E2 (estradiol), as well as AMH level to gauge ovarian reserve. Then he also looked at factors that may contribute to function/dysfunction. He didn't like the shape of my ovaries - they were oblong, instead of round. I know that while I was still trying with my own eggs, the various meds (clomid, letrozole, etc) were able to help in rounding out the follicles. But, essentially his theory is funky follicle, funky egg. (Not sure that is a widely adopted insight, or one of doc's working theories.)

    He also ran an endocrine evaluation that looked at TSH, PRL, and IR. TSH is related to thyroid, and I believe IR is immune response, but I am not sure what PRL stands for. And then finally, my paperwork shows a result related to autonomic syndrome, testing for HSS. And I can not recall what the HSS stood for. This was from my first panel of tests that I did with him in early 2016, so it's just hard for me to remember what the details are.

    I hope this helps! My RE has some protocols and runs some tests that are out of the box, especially since his specialty has been Recurrent Pregnancy Loss patients. Not everyone else in the RE world buys into his theories, but I am a believer!

    @hopeful_mom - hey! i'm going alright. 13 weeks now, and my OB gave me some anti-nausea meds a few weeks ago. They definitely help...some days I'm barely nauseous, other days are still kind of blah. Hopefully they pills will continue helping, and getting into the 2nd tri also, the MS will soon end! :smile:

    @Hopeful_mom thanks for checking in!  **Pregnancy/TW** All is well here! I'm 11w along with the twins today. At our last US it was fun to see them squirming wiggling all around :)
    MS was pretty awful weeks since week 6, but I'm starting to have some "ok" days in the last week or so. I'm also finding that being a little more active helps to keep the MS at bay.
    We still haven't made any official announcements to friends and family, and I'm hoping I can hold off for a few more weeks. Weaning off meds has definitely helped decrease bloat, but I can see the beginning of a little bump coming instead!  **End TW**
    How are you doing? When do you anticipate your FET to take place?
    Glad to hear that everyone is doing well! @hoping10 @caseyw8784 and @fivetimesnoluck
    @momma6angels11 congrats!

    momurph awww love to hear you and the twins are thriving thats fantastic!  Week 6 was when the magic started for sure!!  Unfortunately I can't tell you when//If it lets up but it sound like you're managing well.  Mints really helped me, but then I was concerned with too much sugar in take...I should be so worried about that now not pregnant go figure.  Starting to see the bump will start to really feel more real too!  Are you going to find out the genders?
    AFM: I actually cancelled my FET it should've been last week :(  I was very disappointed with my last cycle and whether I should do immunology testing prior to the FET as I dont have many normies to spare here, but once I started a crazy project working I knew I was asking my body too much to get pregnant while be stressed out and not sleeping for work, so that put the final nail in the coffin on that.  I was taking estrace for 2 weeks so I was still in it but was at peace as I worked non stop so better I waited.  I'm going for monitioring this weekend and if things look good I'm going to try one more IVF cycle and then hopefully transfer!!  I'm still hoping we'll all be bump buddies together soon!!  Are you all on the PAIF boards?
