Re: Symptoms Thread for April 4

  • @ShePersisted I am 10 weeks and last week through yesterday I honestly felt pretty good.

  • @swimsister I was nauseous Sunday and Monday and threw up both days. Today I feel perfectly fine minus my cold. I haven't had much nausea at all so far though.

@swimsister @ShePersisted Try not to worry too much. Placenta is taking over some of the yolk sac's job at this point. That's why most ladies start feeling better during the second trimester.
@DuchessOfCambridge Try using some trigger point therapy to release gunk in your sinuses! Just Google it. I can bump the med thread if you need.

  • Am I the only person laying on the couch unable to function today?!
  • I will be 11 weeks on Monday. Today I felt pretty good except for this uncomfortable fullness feeling in my lower abdomen. It is the warmest day of the season so far so I have been drinking a lot of water and going to the bathroom around the clock. It almost feels like a bladder infection but it doesn't hurt to actually go. I have also noticed my constipation has increased this week so maybe that is it but the only comfortable position is laying on my side. Has anyone else had a similar sensation? If so, did you ever figure out what it was?

Hi! This is my first baby and first time posting in this group. I just reached 11 weeks and I am soo hot all the time! Is this normal, or is anyone else going through this? I'm usually such a freeze baby so this is strange for me!
  • I am also running hot, especially at night.  I had to switch from a down comforter to a more lightweight one because I would wake up all sweaty.  I guess it's just hormonal?

  • @liz4382 a little extra digging and found that this might be caused by increased blood volume? Hope you stay cool tonight ;)
  • My goodness I need help!!! I have had constipation on and off through this pregnancy but it's been almost 4 days now and I'm dying, I just took some gentle calm stuff that is magnesium but does anyone else have ideas!!! I'm hurting so bad...

I tend to get warm easily, paticularly at night.

Also, may I suggest jumping on over to The Knot and changing your username so we can recognize you and tag you easier? And if you haven't already feel free to introduce yourself in the introductions thread!

  • @SRB130 it usually helps me to eat leafy greens like spinach. Good luck!!

  • @SRB130 prunes, prune juice (I put mine in a smoothie to hide the taste), apple juice, the other night I ate a quarter of a watermelon-that fixed the issue, too! Good luck! I have been back and forth with constipation and diarrhea for weeks, it's awful!
  • @SRB130 my experience going through this chronically all my life I have come to realize is that constipation needs to be treated long term and not short term. What I mean to say is while taking a softener or laxative will find you relief it will come back. What you should look into is a regular dose that will help train your large intestines to move things regularly. It will take some experimenting with what will work but it will really help through the next 6-7 months. Options to look into is perhaps a regular dose of stool softer, eating 3-4 prunes every night, metamucil ( my miracle cure) etc.

My DS had chronic constipation since he was an infant and his pedi explained to me in detail by constipation happens and he said regardless of cause (e.g. Pregnancy, hormones) the key is to teach your intestines to move the bowels along. Which takes training :-). Of course you cannot ignore drinking water, eating fiber etc. but given it's caused by pregnancy hormones you need the extra help.
  • @MKMandeville I feel heavy/full in my lower abdomen a lot. Especially if my bladder is even the slightest bit full. I just attributed it to gas/bloating/everything expanding

Yes to the night sweats! We had to switch from our flannel sheets to our summer sheets, and I've been wearing shorts to bed with a long sleeve top. Otherwise I wake up drenched in sweat.

Also, I've had the full abdomen feeling lately too. I just assumed it was constipation or everything expanding as well.

My stomach is just sore today. Like I've been doing sit-ups all day which I haven't been. I kinda remember this feeling but usually it was later when I had more of a belly.

  • Yesterday I was mostly alright. We went to see my grandparents while they're vacationing an hour away from us to announce to them in person at my parents' house (perks of living in tourist towns, really easy to see everyone you love since everyone likes to visit where you live). It was a great day, was exhausted by like 5 and took a nap before we all had dinner. Today...holy hell. I've been bed ridden with alternations to the bathroom floor all day. I WANT to love pregnancy but right now pregnancy is hell guys.

@katieb14 Sorry you are feeling bad. I keep having good moments when I think I'm turning a corner and then the nausea returns. I'm having a bout right now. Hopefully things turn around soon!

  • yall I am having the worst esophagus spasms. It has to be related to heartburn or something. its waking me up at night and happens everytime I swallow or eat. Idk what to do
  • Seems like a lot of us are in the same boat right about now. I also have had a few days where I feel way better, and then bam, I wake up and the nausea is back. And have to pee constantly. I told the bf I could just spend a whole day sitting on the toilet letting urine dribble out.
  • Not a symptom, just gonna whine for a sec. I've had a migraine for almost two days. Seriously hoping it's gone when I wake up tomorrow. I miss my Excedrin :heartbreak:

  • Curious how much sleep your bodies are wanting (not necessarily getting). Mine is wanting about 12 hrs a day to not feel like total crap. Not easy muddling through the week and sad tomorrow is Monday
  • I have not had much time to post this week, mostly skimming! But I've had the same days where things seem better then BAM!
Up until Thursday the nausea has been mostly just all day icky feeling with occasional toothbrush-induced barf. But at least quick, gentle barf, if you can call it that. ***TMI BARF TALK***But OMG Thursday.... violent heaves after my bath and getting ready for bed. Like, I psyched myself up to go hover over the toilet and get it over with, and the heaves instantly were uncontrollable spasms. Nothing would come out! I was still naked and couldn't help but shoot pee with each heave -- I was so humiliated, but helpless. I finally hoped in the tub and threw up exactly one stalk of broccolini I'd eaten at lunch. None of my supper, no bile, just the one spear. Then I heard DH getting home so I just huddled there all weak and disgusting...., " honey I need some help." I had almost a repeat last night but at least peed first and STILL leaked! On my pjs!! My eyes this weekend look so rough. I've never used so much concealer in my life!!! My first pregnancy def had weeks of nausea but nothing like this!
On top of that, yes to hip and back and stretchy abs pains. And only a couple migraines. I did have to nip one with a very low dose Rx bc nothing else worked and it was not a day I could take easy by any means. With my DS I had luxury of less daily obligations and could do peppermint oil, Neti, hot shower, massage, cold packs, nap in dark quiet room, no screens...... not so much these days. I do have to stay on top of water intake and my seasonal allergy meds to help deflect as many triggers as possible. And stretching a lot.
Hope everyone has a good week ahead!

This was me last week. how are you doing today?
  • @BayCamp much better, thanks for asking! Just a slight twinge of a headache today, easy enough to ignore and can probably get rid of it with lots of water!

  • @DuchessOfCambridge the headaches are totally a pregnancy symptom for me. I woke up at 4 am last with a heavy migraine and could not fall back asleep. I never ever get that unless I have an upset stomach. I have some lingering pain now but it's manageable. I honestly just want to yell at everyone at work today.
  • I think I have a sinus infection and feel the worst that I've felt all pregnancy.  Sore throat, headache, earache, congestion and my back hurts.  I try not to take medicine when pregnant, but had to take some tylenol due to the pain yesterday and early this morning but it has not helped.  I was up for most of the night.  Came to work today but am throwing in the towel and heading home!

  • I have mainly been lucky enough to avoid much nausea so far (I'm 7w5d). However, for the past 4 nights or so, I've woken up around 3am with a bad stomach ache. It isn't quite nausea, but mainly a painful cramping/acid indigestion type feeling. I've had some cramps that mimic menstrual cramps, but THIS new trick is more in the mid stomach. Oh what fun, being awake from 3-4am. Buying some tums today and crossing my fingers this passes.
  • Another for just fussing about this headache that came out of no where like a ton of bricks... I've had migraines before and this isn't there yet but I'm super hoping it doesn't get there cause Excedrin's about the only thing that will knock it out at that point.  I'm just gonna turn off my office light and listen to some piano music for a bit... fx that helps...

  • @zigzag8412 I feel you, girl. I didn't even bother with Tylenol because I knew it wouldn't do anything for the pain. Just tried to drink all the water.

Sidenote: My cold is almost gone and I didn't end up doing anything about it! I've still got a gross phlegm situation in my throat but it's mostly disappeared and my cough is very light, not the hacking I usually get. Phew! Hope it stays that way.

  • Someone may want to create a new thread for this since it's supposed to be weekly and it's already up to 9 pages. :)
