I was starving and I got super excited and got Chipotle for lunch and ....took 2 bites and wanted to throw it away. Ugh still feel sick from the two three bites I took.
@DuchessOfCambridge your OB nurse does not sound very helpful. Through this whole process she's been stressing me out. I'm so sorry your cramps came back! @BayCamp this sounds absolutely insane but when I get a really bad headache I watch something that will make me cry and literally sobbing for like 15-20 minutes makes it go away. I suggest military parents surprising their kids. Buckets. Of. Tears. Not sure whyit males my headaches go away.
@08-16-08jms@bcashaw she basically brushed off my pain saying it was normal and that I should just monitor it and call back in a few hours if it hadn't gone away. So I did that and she seemed pretty annoyed I had called back and told me not to be so nervous and it was normal. I had asked if I should call back if it was still bad today and the nurse had said no and hung up. I, however, am still nervous about the level of pain I'm experiencing so I decided to call my PCP instead and the nurse and my Dr there told me I should be seen because they don't like to mess around with abdominal pain, but that OB should see me, I wasn't being crazy, and I shouldn't be afraid to call them. OB didn't have any appointments so I think that same nurse is going to be the one to call me back but she has notes now that say my PCP requested I be seen soon. Soooooooo we'll see. I hate being nervous about this.
@DuchessofCambridge You're not being crazy! For what it's worth, the paperwork I got from my RE said that abdominal pain is normal, but persistent pain that doesn't go away means you should be seen by a doctor. So, you're doing the right thing. Also, I've had some cramps like that (not as persistent), and it has always turned out to be either gas or other digestive issues (constipation or diarrhea). FX it's something simple to fix!
As for me, is anyone else having hip pain? I've always been a side sleeper and sleep with a pillow between my knees, but lately I've been waking up to switch sides a lot because my hips start to hurt during the night. I know this will only get worse later on in pregnancy. Anyone have any good solutions? I'm thinking of getting a new, plumper knee pillow....
@RiverSong15 every time I get up to pee I have to flip sides because I'm sore. I've been putting off the maternity pillow since it takes up so much room, but it might be time.
Update: a super sweet OB doctor called me back and assured me multiple times that what I'm experiencing is normal uterine stretching and she's sorry it's so painful but there's no bleeding and she would absolutely bring me in if she was even a little bit worried. I do have an appointment next week to check up since my 12 week is still a ways away, but I feel much better about it. And I hope if you have really terrible cramping, this makes you feel better too.
Anyone have back aches? I've had them here and there, but it has been relentless the past two days. It's not severe pain or anything (maybe a 5 out of 10), but it's constant and dull and very uncomfortable. I don't really feel like I'm having uterine cramping, but it radiates around my hips every now and then, and I feel extremely heavy and bloated in my abdomen. Tylenol did not really help.
I had had my first appointment yesterday (no U/S until I hit 12weeks) and the doctor said it's probably stretching and since this is my third baby it's expected to be worse. Of course I'm still extremely worried, I never had anything like this with my previous pregnancies.
My main concern is that it hasn't let up in over a day. And of course I'm a nurse, so I always think of the worst possible medical implications
@DuchessOfCambridge I'm so glad you're feeling better (emotionally if not physcially) we don't think you're being crazy, to me you just sound like a mom. @nursereds9815 I had some back pain it seems to have gone away. I cannot recommend a pregnancy pillow enough everybody. Seriously I know it takes up a ton of space and they're stupid expensive but I had a body pillow before and it wasn't cutting it. My pregnancy pillow is my whole life now.
@ShePersisted I tore pretty badly with my first, and had a fissure with that. I obviously hated the intense pain as it opened up with every BM at first, but it was the HOURS or cramping/spasm sensations that I couldn't believe! The worrrrrst.
@DuchessOfCambridge I had a nurse brush me off before too I know it sucks, I'm sorry they did that to you. What I had done before is I called and make an appointment with the dr, I did this with a very complicated situation I was in before and I ended up being right it was ectopic. Obviously this isn't what is wrong I just wanted to reassure you your not crazy we all do it!!! I hope the pain subsides soon!
My seasonal allergies have finally gone into overdrive. Seems late this year and I was dreading it. But honestly the sneezing and stuffy nose is better than the ridiculous sense of smell. Hashtag unlikely things to be grateful for??
I need to rant--I ordered SeaBands a week and a half ago from Amazon and have been anxiously awaiting their arrival to see if they help with my nausea. Just checked Amazon and they haven't even shipped yet--they aren't supposed to arrive until the end of May/beginning of June! Grrrr. So much for that plan...
Nov 17 BMB May Siggy Challenge: Mother's Day Fails
@emucoleman I have a friend who swears by them (for motion sickness) but they didn't work for me. They actually made me more nauseous and having something so tight around my wrist made me feel claustrophobic and gave me anxiety. Still, my friend loves them! She also doesn't throw up if she gets carsick like I do so maybe it works on milder nausea?
@DuchessOfCambridge It seems like they work for some people and not others. I think I've put in too much effort with them already to keep trying. Maybe next pregnancy. :P

I used SeaBands for seasickness when we went on a cruise and they worked for me. I wasn't throwing up before but felt generally icky. I'm not sure how they would translate to pregnancy nausea, mine hasn't been bad enough to try. I did get mine at Rite-Aid. That shipping time stinks!!
FWIW, my acupuncturist said some people respond to those anti-nausea acupressure points inside your arms and some people don't. I'm in the category where I don't. You can find out by doing acupressure there yourself, with your fingers, before buying the sea bands.
@DuchessOfCambridge, had the worst pregnancy rhinitis with DS that lasted my whole pregnancy. Hope it isn't the same for you and gets better soon! The pinching of the nerves in my back has begun already! Wasn't until the second trimester with DS. What a pain! Anyone else experiencing this?
The vomit. Oh god the vomit. I had some constant queasiness up to yesterday, and now it's all I can do to lie on the couch and moan between races to the bathroom. Our last bout of the season is tomorrow and I'm an off skates ref. Here's hoping I can keep it together for 3 hours!
@irishfrisky Good luck with your ref duties tomorrow. I meant to tell you before that it's super cool that you do derby I used to follow the Rose City Rollers in Portland when I lived there, and I know some of the ladies on Sacred City out of Sacramento. Hope you feel better for tomorrow!

@DuchessOfCambridge I think most if not all meds are off the table... you can check the meds thread @nytino24 started.
Oregano is really good for colds, especially in the sinuses. Put oregano in everything you eat (fresh or dried). I have had a lot of success preventing sinus infections when I'm already sick by eating oregano. (My Italian grandmother-in-law swears by it!)
I also use a neti pot for my pregnancy rhinitis with a lot of success. If you've never used a neti pot before, it can be weird to get used to at first, but it truly helps clear things out.
@adirat yeah it seems for a cough there are things you can take but for a cold there's not much you can do. I may try the neti pot, I'm getting pretty desperate. And oregano is delicious so why not. Thanks for the tips
I second the Neti pot. Also maybe a cool mist humidifier and a hot steamy shower. My DH's grandma swears by gargling warm salt water - she says it disinfects the whole area.
Has anyone else felt nauseous for about a week and then had it go away? I realize this is probably the best case scenario and/or the nausea will come back. I'm just starting to worry a little that it's a bad sign. Sorry, I'm really in my head this morning.
I am certainly am feeling much much better. Nausea has settled down quiet a bit and fatigue is easing off. I'm still tired but nowhere close to how it was a few weeks ago. I also have minimal sore breasts. Maybe I should be worried :-(. I am almost 10 weeks today so maybe it's about that time symptoms ease up.
