@sbl0609 I wouldn't rule out a name because it was on a "most popular" list, but more based on popularity in my community and group of friends. For example, none of my acquaintances have a son named Liam even though it's #1 on most lists, while I know maybe 5 boys named Lucas. So between those names, we'd probably avoid using Lucas over Liam even though Liam has been voted more popular.

I love this name too, and it was on my list for DS. Unfortunately, the huz thought it was too geeky of a connection (this from the man who suggested Merlin...Named after the bird, not the wizard). It also is awkward with our last name that also ends in an -in.
I was set on Adeline Grace as a girl's name, but now that I know I'm having a boy, I haven't fallen in love with a name. Jacob Dylan keeps popping into my head, but is it too ordinary and overused? Or outdated? I know Jacob is ancient and classic, but is it just too normal? Haha. Jacob sounds sweet to me though, and it feels natural since I have a lot of family with J names (including my brother and myself).

I highly recommend not using Cohen (assuming you aren't Jewish) since it's an important name with significant meaning in that faith. It's like naming your child Muhammad without being Muslim. Cole, Cameron, Caleb, Colin, Connor, Christina, Chelsea, Caitlyn
I named my son Cole so I am a little biased with loving it but I'll throw my support behind it for a C name. We picked it because 1. its short ( our last name is 3 syllables) 2. its not super common but not yoonique 3. the nicknames surrounding it are limited and we're fine with any that have come up.

We were dead set on Valany for a girl. FI lost his mother and that was her name and his ex didn't give him any say in his 3 daughters names at all. He was sooo excited to use his Mothers name... fast forward, IT'S A BOY! Originally we agreed on Elias Orion but now we want to incorporate his Mother. We are stuck on Valen/Valan for a first name. Salvador is now a middle name for FIs grandfather. So it's either Valen Salvador or Valan Salvador. FI is Mexican and has a very Mexican last name.

Cohen and it's various spellings is a Jewish last name that is very culturally significant- it denotes that ones ancestors were priests in the Temple of Jerusalem from the line of Aaron and Moses. I grew up with a lot of Jewish friends, and they tell me the LN Cohen is a deeply significant point of pride for many people, and they would be very offended by someone with no cultural connection to the name using it as a FN for their child.
