Anyone thinking names yet?

@sbl0609 I wouldn't rule out a name because it was on a "most popular" list, but more based on popularity in my community and group of friends.  For example, none of my acquaintances have a son named Liam even though it's #1 on most lists, while I know maybe 5 boys named Lucas.  So between those names, we'd probably avoid using Lucas over Liam even though Liam has been voted more popular.

@angeladowns1 I don't think too many people would recognize Thorin, unless they loved The Hobbit, or were huge Richard Armitage fans (like me ). It's a pretty cool sounding name!

@sbl0609 I personally rule out names that are super popular. It sucks  when I love one and it's high on a popularity list. But i do like it a lot!

I love this name too, and it was on my list for DS. Unfortunately, the huz thought it was too geeky of a connection (this from the man who suggested Merlin...Named after the bird, not the wizard). It also is awkward with our last name that also ends in an -in.

I was set on Adeline Grace as a girl's name, but now that I know I'm having a boy, I haven't fallen in love with a name. Jacob Dylan keeps popping into my head, but is it too ordinary and overused? Or outdated? I know Jacob is ancient and classic, but is it just too normal? Haha. Jacob sounds sweet to me though, and it feels natural since I have a lot of family with J names (including my brother and myself).

@tiki8286 I love Sebastian!!! Plus, that's an awesome nickname. There are a handful of names I really like, but I don't like any of the nicknames. I'm going to have to see what DH thinks when he gets home tonight!

@jenniferleamomtobe I love Jacob! We don't find out the baby's sex for another 3 weeks but we have a list of names going and Jacob is my favorite of the boy's names we do have. I think if we find out it's a boy, he'll be Jacob William (my grandfather's middle name was William).

@Sugargirl1019 I love the name Franny. Maybe DH will come around. Would Franny be the nn or the whole first name? Does DH like something that can be shortened to Franny...Francesca? Maybe something as a middle name, but you call her Franny? I think Franny sounds like such a sweet little girl. I hope he'll grow to love it.

I named my son Cole so I am a little biased with  loving it but I'll throw my support behind it for a C name. We picked it because 1. its short ( our last name is 3 syllables) 2. its not super common but not yoonique 3. the nicknames surrounding it are limited and we're fine with any that have come up.

We are ill prepared for a boy name. Our girl name was ready to go from last time. Now that we know this baby is a boy, we can't agree on anything. Our first son is a Charles and is a family name. I can't decide if I want to go that route again or do something unique.

After years of me collecting names I am surprised at how hard it has been for me and my husband to agree on any. We even used the baby name app (swipe right) and pretty much only got overlapping names we already knew we both kinda liked. We do agree that we like names that are a bit different.

I was always a first name and middle name planner. So feeling a bit lost as to how to get more certain on names as I don't think a lot of the names we have picked go together.

We do like short first names (or names that would have a short nickname) because she will have 2 last names.

    Baby Girl:
Soren is at the top of our list as a 1st name (though we are still looking for other options)
Nova (not as a 1st name)
Lucie or Lucy (maybe a 1st name)
Zoe or Zoey (maybe a 1st name)
Stevie (maybe a middle name after his uncle that passed away)

But a heads up about Cohen, I've seen on other boards how some consider that an offensive name. It's apparently a popular Jewish surname, and would be similar to naming your child "Priest."
