I still have some pain but it's dulling. I'm drinking lots of water so I think part of the issue is that I was dehydrated, which the nurse did mention over the phone I just didn't think it would make me feel this way. It is definitely helping though and I hope it goes fully away soon. The fact that we had a great appointment just Thursday and I have no bleeding is seriously helping me not go crazy. And to think this morning I was sad about feeling nauseous. Give me puking over this pain any day. At least throwing up doesn't make nervous. It just makes me sad haha
I have a tight/stretched kinda ache but not quite a cramp feeling across my lower abdomen. I think it's cause I carry my stress in my gut, but I really wish it would go away... Unless it's a good thing...

@DuchessOfCambridge please don't freak out with this advice. 99% I think ( I am of course no dr) it's just pregnancy related pain but if it gets worse or you don't feel right about it pls pls go to a colon rectal surgeon and get checked. I had a really horrible episode with one of my pregnancies where I had constant daihrea in the first few weeks and I actually developed a fissure which landed up getting infected. I unfortunately lost the baby at 9 weeks then but completely ignored fissure pain as I was so caught up in my pregnancy worries. It of course got worse due to me not trying to address it right away and I had to have two surgeries to take care of it after that. It was the most horrible experience of my life. So again I say this not to freak you out but to share my exp. Sometimes Drs can too quickly dismiss something is regular pregnancy pain. It never hurts to double check if you have any doubt. And like I said 99% it probably is something minor but just keep an eye on it.
After a nap my cramping is still there. It feels like really awful period cramps. I called the nurse back since she said to if the pain kept up and she was quite rude and brushed me off. You work in OB where some women have never been pregnant before and don't know what everything feels like. I get that you've heard it a lot and are probably desensitized but I'm not! I'm nervous and fearing the worst and you could probably tell me what I'm feeling is normal without being condescending and rude about it! I sincerely hope the nurse on call changes because if not, I'm just calling my PCP nurse again. She was the best.
ETA: @ShePersisted thank you for sharing the experience. The pain has moved out of my rectal and vaginal areas and is just strong cramping now, still no bleeding. So I'm trying to listen to the nurse that it's all fine.
Double ETA: Sorry for the dear diary posts today, everyone. Thank you so much for your support. I'm a nervous person and pain I'm not expecting or used to really scares me. I know it's just a little blob, but I'm quite attached to it and would be devastated if anything happened (as we all would). It's really lovely having all of you who understand how upsetting things can be.
@DuchessOfCambridge forgive me if you've already tried this, but along with water use a dehydration tablet to replace electrolytes like nuun tablets (available on amazon). I was also given advice to drink then lay on right side for 30min and it did help. Hope you feel better soon!!
@DuchessOfCambridge Hmmm, it worries me that it feels like really bad period cramping. I really don't want to worry you since I'm definitely not a doctor, but I do think it's a good idea to talk to a different nurse. Maybe it's not something wrong, but that kind of persistent pain is not an everyday pregnancy symptom. I'm sorry you're going through this, it must be so stressful. Really hope everything is okay and that you get some reassurance!

@DuchessOfCambridge I agree with the nurse that it could just be a little dehydration. I am not very good at drinking water and I had some pretty rough cramps during my other pregnancies because of it. That being said, I agree with the PP that it "could" be something else and I would rather be safe than sorry. I suggest calling back and asking to speak to a different nurse or the doctor directly. They should be more empathetic and helpful. You know your body. If something doesn't feel right, be your own advocate and fight till you get an answer that makes you feel comfortable.
Thank you @emucoleman and @cmessamore! I'm feeling a bit better and less crampy now that I've been drinking water and had something to eat, so I've decided to hold off until tomorrow morning. If the pain is still there, I'm going to call my PCP's nurse because she's very sweet and understanding.
@DuchessOfCambridge I've been having the exact same symptoms for weeks...Dr suspects it has to do with bowel blockage and also they've found kidney stones. Was told to drink lots (which is so hard bc of nausea) and to take milk of magnesia. Hope you feel better soon.
My all day nausea/morning sickness is kicking my butt this week. I read it peaks around 8-10 weeks and I'll be 9 weeks on Friday. I'm already taking diclectin so not sure what else to do.
Also I've been completely ignoring DH mostly because the thought of anything touching me makes me feel sick. I haven't even been as cuddly with my boys. I feel bad for DH. Anyone else dealing with this.
@DuchessOfCambridge hope you manage lots of sleep tonight and feel better / get some answers in the morning ! @2Dash I am honestly the shittiest stepmom these days. Today my stepson had like a mental breakdown and he didn't want me at all. I feel like a part of it is because I've been so distant lately, I haven't been able to sit at the dinner table with them and I have been going to bed as soon as our foster child is asleep at like 7 30. I know my kids are missing me and I feel so bad, at the same time I'm taking care of another child right now and it's taking all of my energy.
@bcashaw yes definitely hard! I haven't told my kids about the baby yet and I feel like my distance is hurting them. Hoping to feel like myself a little more soon!
Thank you SO much for thinking of me everyone! Right now I feel ok, still having some cramping but it is subsiding and I'm making myself drink a lot of water which I do think is helping. Hard though because I have a stuffed nose and sore throat and don't want to eat/drink anything. Just taking it as it comes and hoping all is well in the morning.
I was so constipated that I got desperate. I Googled "constipation remedies" then took a trip to the shops and bought pretty much everything the internet suggested and ate it all at once. Now (unsurprisingly) I have an incredibly sore tummy and the opposite problem. Learn from my mistakes people!
Thanks for checking in @jess0211! I feel ok right now, the pain is coming and going, it's mostly fine right now. I still have my usual symptoms just period like cramps on top of it. I normally have really bad periods, I actually have a prescription for my normal cramps so maybe period-like cramping is just more intense for me since mine have always been bad? Still not even a tiny trace of blood though!
Hit post too early. I'm planning on going to work and if it still hurts like crazy I'll call my PCP. I don't want an unnecessary ultrasound but it'd be really nice to know everything is ok. I'll endure all the pain if it means baby is healthy.
The pain is mostly gone! I drank a ton of water so I think the nurse was right and I was dehydrated. I know I barely drank water on Monday and I threw up AND had diarrhea both Monday and Tuesday so it makes sense. Still some cramping but it's very mild, the kind I've been getting throughout this pregnancy and am used to. Definitely going to use that waterlogged app religiously to make sure I drink enough water! Thank you so so so much ladies for all your thoughts!
@DuchessOfCambridge So glad you are feeling better! On my worst days, when I can't eat, I've also used juice boxes to stay hydrated. I hope this was temporary for you though!
@DuchessOfCambridge So glad you're feeling better! I remember that in the third trimester you can get Braxton Hicks contractions from being dehydrated...maybe this is a version of that?

Any tried and true headache cures? It's not terrible (I get migraines) it's just an obnoxious headache that's been going on 3 days. I thought it was sinuses but I woke up clear this morning and still hurting. Water, food, Tylenol, and caffeine have not helped so far.
Ugh @BayCamp so sorry you have a headache. I used to get migraines at least once a week, often more than that and the only thing that helped was Excedrin Migraine. Thankfully pregnancy has decreased them but agreed with you, water and food don't really help. So sorry you have headaches and sorry I can't offer a solution
@baycamp Sigh...if a little caffeine doesn't work then I'm really out of ideas. I hope it goes away on its own!
So one of my first pregnancy symptoms was a gross sour taste in my mouth and it is getting worse by the day. I can't eat anything sweet anymore without a permanent gross sour taste even after I brush my teeth. This morning I ate some Thin Mints with my breakfast (lol I know) and even after brushing my teeth, I have that terrible horrible sour disgustingness on my tongue. This is unbelievable.
(There's a part of me that would have loved to have this during, say, the six months before my wedding...not wanting to eat anything sweet for a while would've helped my wedding diet But now I hate it.)
@baycamp I had a bad headache at 4am, so I took Tylenol (and ate a little so my stomach wouldn't get too upset) put a cold wet washcloth on my face, and went back to bed for some rest. Now I'm not 100 percent but I can function. When my pain gets really bad, it really won't improve without meds AND quiet rest at the same time. Hopefully you can carve out that time at some point. Sorry you're going dealing with this!
@BayCamp do you see a chiropractor? Might be time to get back in for an appointment, if you do. Otherwise I'd say a few more glasses of water. I really have to drink an obnoxious amount of water while pg. I would get tons of Braxton Hicks in the third trimester, like @emucoleman said, if I wasn't super diligent with my water. My headaches are often the same way. I literally had a flip chart last time to make sure I drank my required ounces (I'm very petite, but I needed somewhere between 75-100% of my body weight in ounces, none of that half your weight crap. That was never enough.)
@ArtificialRed that's a really good point. I haven't been to my chiro since my BFP. They're affiliated with my birth center so I might call and see if they can get me in after my appointment tomorrow and adjust me real quick.
And yeah half my body weight is crazy talk. My usual is 75-100% as well. Especially since I've been pregnant or breastfeeding for the last 3 years.
I second the chiro. It was a lifesaver when I was pregnant with my son. Also, check your bra @BayCamp! If it doesn't fit just right if can cause tension in your back/neck which can lead to headaches! Hope you feel better
Anyone else feel like their upper abdomen did a billion crunches or their lower abdomen feels like it's cold or slight burning? It's like a constant cramp going on which of course worries me. Started spotting again this morning after working my two shifts, there's no going easy on that unit. I won't be working three in a row for a very long time.
@MaximumEffort I don't have those sensations but I do have pretty painful period-like cramps. They went away this morning but they're back even though I've already had 48 oz of water. No bleeding still but I called my PCP since the OB nurse said not to call back...I'm just worried and would like peace of mind from a second opinion. Yikes to your shifts, any chance you can rearrange them?
@MaximumEffort I don't have the cold/burning sensation, but after working 2-3 12's in a row my stomach feels like I did a million crunches. My floor is very physical as well, and it's hard because if you try to take it easy, you end up in the weeds. I've just been trying to space out my shifts and rest on days off. Hope the cramping/spotting gets better. Stay hydrated!
