@msashley2010-2 Okay good I just thought I was super weak! Holding for a minute is ridiculous. I'll encourage more sexy time with DH and do kegels then.. He likes it

@wyomama0427 Who is it? I'm feeling lazy about actually looking.
I have an almost final draft of my appeal letter to the insurance company finished, finally! Recap: I was denied short term disability insurance (as a whole) from when I applied during open enrollment in the fall, because I was pregnant when I had the physical for it (in Jan, thanks to the company who does the physicals dragging their feet). I'm fighting it, partly bc I was not pregnant when I enrolled, but also bc a 7 month pregnant co-worker was approved for it at the same time, with no wait period required. Seeing as how I was denied based on my 'current pregnancy', I think I have something to really support my case.
I picked up records from my OB yesterday, and I'm just having a few people take a look, and then it's off to the insurance company! Do I think I'll win? Meh, not sure. But I've already been denied, so at worst, they will still say no.
@Sugargirl1019 Me, too! The paperwork says they will mail a decision within 21 days of receiving the letter, so I shouldn't have to wait long for some sort of response. I'm kind of 50/50 on whether I think it will happen, but I have to try.
@ColoradoHiker I feel like they should give it to you, but who knows... like you said, though, nothing to lose!
@mrs_tacos I ate pop tarts for breakfast and they were delicious.
School got cancelled today because we are supposed to have all the tornado warnings. The round that came through this morning wasn't terrible...lots of wind, rain, and hail. But, it's this afternoon they're really worried about.
@HollyGolightly09 we are supposed to be getting a lot of bad wether today and tonight too. Everyone on fb is freaking out about it. And I'm just thinking I'm going to die if the power goes out. It's going to be so hot

lol, my best friend said yesterday "everyone is saying to have helmets ready and I'm just wanting to make sure my devices are charged."
@Cats*in*space what do you think the Beck's?? DH and I were just talking about non-alcoholic beer and how it might be nice for me at the beach this summer?!
South Georgia here. I have my house (not Mouse) really cold so I will freeze all day and when the power goes out because I know it will I'll be glad it isn't on. Perfect plan if you as me lol
I'm keeping an eye on these storms too. So far the worst of it has passed north of us, but we are still under tornado watch for another hour or so.
And ugh, why am I so nervous for my appointment today? It's been a full month since I've heard the heartbeat and longer than that since I've seen the little peep.
@Doggiedoc2016 It wasn't terrible, a little skunky. So was the St. Pauli's I tried. I was really missing the taste of beer. I decided I needed to try it after doing yardwork this past weekend. It's so refreshing on a hot day!
FFWC: I had a roast beef sandwich yesterday because it was ALL I could think about. I basically shoveled it into my mouth. Then I had another one today. I will stop now, but oh my God.. so delicious.
ETA: I've been feeling super meh about food for about a week, so I figured I'd go for it.
for weather I am in Northwest Florida with @mrsmarygs an area commonly known as Lower Alabama lol, the rain has begun, and it is so dark outside. eep. the power has gone out twice
Hi everyone, I have been busy being a good employee this week. This whole 2nd trimester energy is still in limited spurts, and right now we are doing a BUNCH of corporate changes and so much training that I have to pay attention to...sooo yeah sorry I've been MIA!
Coworker took me to lunch today, a Thai restaurant! I had Pork Pad Thai. OMG, so freaking delish!! I haven't had Thai food in a long while (DH isn't a fan), and he paid for it (didn't expect it)! So free, delish food is always a yes for me! Now to see whether or not we are having our 2nd training session at 3pm or if we are cancelling it due to the crazy weather...
@labby18 FX that you keep power. We drove through an intersection yesterday that didn't have power to its traffic light. Hoping we don't get any other outages around here. The college put in generators after Ivan, so we should all be good. But holy cow it's coming down!
Southern TN here and we are also on tornado/hail/t storm watch this afternoon. This morning it was thundering and such but nothing terrible. Really praying no tornadoes come out of this. Those things are what nightmares are made out of...
We're creating a bunch of new documents for my department. My coworker is arguing with me about quotations and punctuation. She is adamant that the period goes outside the quotation marks because she "saw it on the internet."
She is wrong. I am ragey. If these documents move forward and are finalized with the incorrect placement, I'm going to refuse to edit anything else.

People annoy me. The closing quotation mark CLOSES that quote.... that would be ending it with no punctuation. But, alas, the internet can't be wrong, so I guess I'm confused.

Tell her your internet friend who is a proofreader says she's wrong. Or better yet, tell her that Chicago Manual of Style section 6.9 says to put periods inside quotation marks.

Omg stuff like that makes me ragey. I'm a lawyer and when I get documents in full of grammatical errors I can't even focus on the content. I think my alternative career should be proofreading

I get really distracted when there are a ton of errors. We have an out-of-specification alert that gets sent out that has the wrong its/it's in it, and it practically leaps on the page and punches me in the face every time I have to send it out.
She actually just said to me, "well it doesn't really matter."

Um, yes it does. Just as proper English matters or we won't be able to understand each other, proper grammar and punctuation matters. Have y'all heard about that lawsuit that cost a company several million dollars because of a missing Oxford comma? Some truck drivers got a ton of overtime pay from the error.
This comma conversation is making me twitchy. I do a little editing on the side for money, and some of the horrific stuff that comes across my desk is just...indescribable. I edited an academic paper last month that may have given me grammatical ptsd.

Since I work in a college setting, I get requests from students all the time to proof their papers. Most of the time they are fairly good. One doctoral dissertation I proofed was fairly perfect. A few papers though, I almost want to scream, "Did you even try!" Those I just mark the absolute worst mistakes, and try to warn them that their paper is terrible. Otherwise, they come back to me complaining that I didn't help them get a good grade. Ugh.
Lol!!! I take online classes and we do these discussion boards. I'll admit, I'm pretty lazy on TB because I don't have anyone grading my posts. But you're darn sure everything I post in my college discussion boards are pristine! Some of the people on there are really awful.

This paper was from a post doc who planned to take it to a conference. I was dumbfounded! I can't imagine how they ever wrote and passed a dissertation with grammar that poor! The first thing I did was go through and take out every unnecessary comma- the tally came up to over 1,000 misplaced commas. That's a lot of comma splices! I really earned my money with that one.
What blows my mind about people's Oxford comma issues is we teach that comma rule in 1st grade... we end up covering it 5-6 different weeks throughout the year. I have 18 kids in my class, and I would put money down that only about 2 of them ever leave out the comma where it's need it.
