We (read: DH) left a window open in our house last night, and it is currently 58 degrees in here. I think it's rather pleasant, but our poor animals have buried themselves in our bedding, and won't come out to eat breakfast!
Also, does anyone else feel like they have to reacclimate themselves to pregnancy every morning? I feel like every morning it takes me a minute when I get up to readjust to the extra front weight, and the first time I see myself in the mirror it always surprises me for a second that I look so noticeably pregnant.
Has anyone started their registry yet?? I'm so overwhelmed! Haha it's a lot of fun but there is so. Much. STUFF!!! And I have a dilemma with the nursery furniture. I found a crib I like, but I don't like the dresser that goes with the set. I wonder if I would have issues ordering a dresser from another brand? I was thinking white is white.....but really sometimes it's not! I'm nervous about not seeing them right up next to each other first!
@labby18 we are getting that later today and tonight. We are already under tornado watch.
I took ds DS to the dr this morning for a awful rash that is starting to spread all over him. The pedi said it looks like its a viral rash. Who knew you can get a rash from having a virus. But the pedi also said he has ulcers in his mouth and it could turn into hand foot and mouth. If it starts to spread in his hands and feet then that's what it is. But on the plus side she said I can give him Benadryl for his itchiness so I know he will get a nap today because it makes him sleepy!
@LaceyC1020 We need to start one in the next few weeks, and its overwhelming! Thankfully DH is a super researcher, so he's already started looking into some stuff, like swings and strollers. I need to have him start looking at little stuff, like bottles and pacifiers, and I need to start researching breast pumps so I know if the ones I can get through our insurance will meet my needs or not. As for cribs, that's tough! I think we've decided to get a wrought iron crib, and then have the dresser and book shelf match is either white or gray. Maybe an approach like that would solve your problem? One different accent piece with the rest matching is one of my favorite decorating tricks, it adds a nice element of interest to a room.
@kelseyrayay DS had HFM in January/Early Feb and it sucked! The mouth ulcers hurt him and eating was tough for a while. I hope your little guy gets better soon! DS had a few rash bumps on his hands and feet but those didn't develop until towards the end, his was mostly on his chest and back and his poor cheeks.
@mrs_tacos Thanks! Yeah we've been researching like crazy! Some of these things I don't even know where to begin. Babies can be super particular with bottles and pacifiers...and I still need to call my insurance company about breast pumps. I've switched a lot of my bigger items to more neutral colors in case we are able to have another child in a few years! It's all so expensive that it would be great to get more use out of them!
@kelseyrayay oh no! Poor boy it did take DS's like two days to get to his hands and feet. The doc gave us an oral steroid for the rash. He also got it REALLY bad in his diaper area, on his butt cheeks, even on his poor little scrotum so they gave us a prescription cream for that too.
I was going to come here and say the most random thing of all, I really want sugar. Then I read everyone else's comments. Stay Safe everyone with horrible weather and I hope all the little ones start to feel bad and their rashes don't get worse.
@DPandMB haha I was going to go kinda random too, but then I saw the rash posts! But poor babies.. rashes can be really tough. However, sugar craving is real.
I wish I could offer some advice with the rashes, but DS has only ever had eczema rashes.
My random.. DH and I somewhat recently decided we were good with 2 kids. But since after our last ultrasound, it hit me that this is the last time I get to do this?! I have a total love/hate relationship with pregnancy.. love what's happening and what I get in the end, but feel like crap so often! I kinda don't really enjoy it that much. I feel lucky to get to do it.. but it's rough. So I've been having real anxiety over no more kids. I decided that I'm absolutely not ready to say I don't want more. I talked to DH about it and he sweetly agreed that we can leave it open and maybe talk about more after this one is here. And suddenly, no more anxiety!
@LaceyC1020 ditto to what @jena333 said! I loooove Lucies list and used it for my entire registry planning. They send an awesome excel spreadsheet with product compares and then more information can be found on the website. What's even better is if you sign up, you really only get emails like once a month, so you don't have to worry about your inbox being blown up!
@beccam1230 I was actually thinking about starting a thread about that exact thing. I am also pretty certain this is my last baby. 4 kids is more than enough and I'm not a good pregnant woman, but the is this slight feeling of sadness.
Thinking about registering stresses me out. I really loved making our wedding registry but I guess it felt like that stuff was kind of common sense/wishlisty? A baby registry just seems so different and overwhelming! I browsed strollers and car seats so I'm calling that a win and giving it a rest for a while.
Me & DH: 31 | Married: 5.4.13 | TTC: April 2016 | BFP: 1.8.17 | EDD: 9.13.17
@DPandMB ahh.. 4 sounds really nice. I like it more than 2. I had 3 siblings to grow up with and we're all still close, I want my kids to have that too! But you know, you can always re-evaluate how many kids you want!!
Yikes at the rashes and the weather! We had no ugly storm yesterday but it was over quickly.
My random is that I went and did a Ragnar Relay this weekend and I was nervous because it was WAY hotter than the forecast said and I wasn't feeling good about running in 90 degrees. But I took it slow-ish and my team was awesome and it just gave me so much of my confidence back. I've been down lately and feeling like there is so much I can't do. Then I did this and I feel halfway back to my old self!
On the downside I left my Tums in my weekend bag ans could really use them about now!

I just ate a whole package of skittles.
I feel ya sister.
Thus far I havent been able to handle any sweets so I expect in a few minutes this will be me:
@mrsmarygs we had to go to naval hospital for my 16wk appt that was the worst drive. Stay safe. Its not supposed to stop anytime soon.
Oh my! I can't imagine being out in it. By the time I walked to lunch it had died down to a light rain, but my poor shoes are soaked.
@kelseyrayay Poor little kid. Hope he feels better soon!
Is is bad that I keep putting off my registry? I say I'm waiting to find out the gender, but the truth is it's overwhelming. I do now have a stroller and car seat thanks to my wonderful FIL. So that's one less thing to worry about.
@mrsmarygs@labby18 My radar looked like the apocalypse today, too, lol. Luckily we haven't had any of the damaging winds, hail, or tornadoes they were worried about. Just a flood. Hopefully y'all will be okay, too!

I feel the exact same way! I loved my wedding registry... that was fun! This seems so much more serious... like I need to research everything. It gives me anxiety.
Are any 2+ time moms making another registry for the coupons and discounts? I know we need more stuff for this one but I didn't know how weird that would be to make another registry for myself (and keep it private).

I'm a FTM, but I think I would make registries just for the coupons with future children. Discounts are super nice.
@Becky012016 Baby #3 and I have a registry to keep myself straight and for the coupons. My mom has asked to see it, but otherwise it's just for me and DH.

I don't know what to do about a registry. I haven't bought a single thing and I have no idea how much I'm going to end up needing other than the obvious items.

I second those who look at Lucie's List for an initial 'what you need' and 'reviews' type place for your registry. Just remember, babies don't need tons of 'stuff' at first--especially if you're breastfeeding. I wouldn't go overboard on pacis and bottles as you don't know what your babe's preference will be. If you have people asking you what bigger ticket items you need and you can't seem to decide/it's too overwhelming, you could always have them give you gift cards. I wouldn't do clothing as people will likely get you what they like on that type of thing anyway.
For breastpumps, Spectra is great (newer to the US), but very popular in Europe. I had an S2 for DS2 which I loved (it's quiet, lightweight, & hospital grade). I had a Madela (not hospital grade) for DS1 and thought that was decent, but not as good. I also own a hospital grade Madela that I got when I went back to work with DS2 and that will be what I'll get extra tubing for with this baby. I may also get another Spectra S2 since that's covered through insurance and it's nice to have one at home and one at work (not sure if I'm working again here or not, but it's free for us with Tricare).
@harleyquinn0621 I just told DH in a normal diet by now I'd be all well I've been really good, I can cheat and have a blizzard. Now though, there's no cheating. I seriously have a whole new respect for diabetics.
DS got his face painted today as a tiger and the black from his nose has rubbed off on me while he has been nursing during his nap Good thing I love this kid. Attempting spoiler box pictures... and this was after lunch so he lost a fang eating
@wyomama0427 ooooh... now I need those. I did buy some gummy bears, gushers and fruit roll ups today. I think I have a problem.
Hey.. question for those of you with more than one child. I decided on what car seat to buy, but who gets the middle back seat? New baby or older child still in a car seat? I have an optional 3rd row of seating in my car, but it only has 2 seats, so no middle seat there.
