I'm not sure there's much more my OB could have said today to make me any happier besides "Go ahead and stop taking your iron supplement." Praise the Lord! Let the choirs sing and my bowels return to normal!
Bless my hubs heart. I've been complaining my underwire bras are hurting me. He's been researching nursing bras on Amazon and ordered me some to try and return if they don't fit.
@huskermom14 I hope you both feel better soon now that you have antibiotics!
Now that you're being treated, this is the short story: My son had Scarlet Fever, and also ended up hospitalized with an abscess and needed extended IV antibiotics. It was a freaky, super unlikely complication, but my doctor initially would not test him for strep because he was "too young" (15 months). Even though he had been seen by the pediatrician earlier in the day and I was told he was fine, I took him to the ER and it likely saved his life. It was my most terrifying moment as a mother, but also when I learned to advocate for my kids and follow my gut and pressure doctors if their advice doesn't feel right. You know your kid best.
Also: while my son was in the hospital, all sorts of doctors and med students came to see him because this was such a rare case, so don't think that this will happen if your kid gets strep. But, do follow your gut as a parent!
Thanks @Heliumgirl717! Sorry your DD just went through it too. It's been a heck of a winter for illnesses!
Oh my gosh @mrt, how scary! DS got strep for the first time when he was 13 months and I remember having to push for them to swab him for it too. Luckily our pedi is big on following maternal instincts so he did it and sure enough it was positive! This is his 6th time getting it since so I'm hoping they'll go ahead and decide to take his tonsils when we go to the ENT at the end of April. They wouldn't let us do it with his adenoids because he was 18 months when we got those out and they said he was too young. I'm glad everything turned out OK for your DS and you stuck with your gut! It's amazing how on point our instincts can be!

Do you have pretty high levels? At my first blood draw, my ferritin was in the low 90s and they were like "Whatever you do, do NOT take an iron supplement!" Because apparently that's on the pretty high side of normal. I have never specifically taken iron, just my prenatal, which, like most, does have some iron in it. It'll be interesting to see if I've come down at all with this second blood draw.
Re: grooming. I don't shave or wax, but I do like to keep it trimmed pretty short down there. I realized a couple weeks ago I can't see well enough to do it very well! So I've been doing it mainly by feel. I told H I'll probably have him do it right before the baby's born because I definitely want it trimmed right before then so it'll be easier to stay clean afterward.
@huskermom14 that's a lot of strep! No fun! Good luck with the ENT. My son got his tonsils removed when he turned 3 (unrelated to strep- he had sleep apnea) and he handled it so much better than older kids in my family who have had them out at 8-10 years old.

Oh he's had quite the go of things. Ear infections every month from 3 months to 13 months. He got tubes the day before his first birthday and had one more ear infection, then his first case of strep, and since then he's alternated strep or a sinus infection every month since with the exception of this past January. He got his adenoids out a year ago this past February and ENT has started culturing him for every sinus infection and it hasn't made much difference so now they're talking about doing a CT scan to see if he needs a sinus surgery of sorts. I'm gonna put my foot down and tell them I don't care if they do the sinus surgery or if they take his tonsils, but they need to do something and they need to do it before June because I don't want to deal with a toddler fresh out of surgery AND a newborn! Hopefully something gives soon!
Good luck, @huskermom14 - we've done the ear tubes (which were life changing - did them at 14 months) which are shocking still in nearly 2 years later. Now if only DD didn't produce so much ear wax as to block them...
@lovesclimbing My OB was out of town so I saw my NP the last visit and she was the one to suggest iron supplement for borderline anemia. However, when I mentioned it to my OB and asked how low I was, she said some providers are more concerned about pregnancy-induced anemia but her opinion was that I was only seeing the numbers given my increased blood from pregnancy and resulting "diluted plasma." She does not feel it warrants supplementation. I'll take it!
My son has to take off all his clothes to poop. Ever since he was potty trained. He also won't poop at school. We were literally walking out the door and he has to go. Takes off all his clothes (shoes and socks included) and takes forever. Thank goodness I didn't have my regular Wednesday meeting today.

My son does the exact same thing. He still refuses to go at all at school. It's gross in public bathrooms! I hate when he's throwing clothes down on the public restroom floor.
@FSUNole31 Funny story. My daughter got home from school yesterday and I asked her how her day was. She said "well I only peed when I went to the restroom." I asked if she normally does more then that. Her answer "sometimes I poop, sometimes I don't" Well.. alrighty then. Kids are weird.
Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
My supervisor (who I share a very small office with) sucks on lifesaver mints all day. The sound he makes while doing this has significantly raised my blood pressure. Pregnant me cannot handle it.
@LMMama Love It for solidarity! My damn dog does this annoying slow lick and I imagine it sounds like the mint sucking. It will wake me up in the middle of the night. It's so irritating! Makes me want to strangle him!!
OMG I am such a dirty old bird. My DD takes swim lessons at my alma mater. She had one last night, and I could not stop staring at this college guy who had just finished his practice. He was totally ripped, like could have been on a romance novel cover or something. And he was just chatting with someone for like the whole lesson in his swim briefs. I feel so nasty for staring but I couldn't help it. Fortunately he was all the way across the pool so no one noticed.

@kdanjou The older I get the more I notice myself actually looking at younger/attractive guys... maybe it is because my youth is fleeting, or because I not nearly as pretty/skinny as I use to be. I don't ever really remember noticing guys for their looks when I was younger... they seemed like a dime a dozen. But now, I definitely notice.
We have just done something moderately nuts and booked flights to Europe (to visit my in-laws / DH's relatives) for exactly 8 weeks after my due date. Ob has said that she won't let me go late for medical reasons, pedi is fine with giving first shots early so baby will have built up immunity, and we'll need to expedite the baby's passport. This will cause me an impressive amount of stress to make sure all of the pieces fall together, but means a ton to my in-laws (and DH - who wouldn't be able to go away in September since it's just too busy at work). Wish us luck! (And we took DD at 10 weeks, so the whole "international travel with an infant" doesn't faze me. With an infant and a 3 year old....who the heck knows!)
ETA that I am feeling like this is insane. And sorry for being an AW!
@lovesclimbing I doubt you're the only one stalking your registry. I will admit I check mine multiple times a day.. most of the time looking at price changes and making sure nothing went out of stock. It really helped when I saw something big went down $30 and my mom ordered it for my grandma a few minutes later.
ETA: She told me to let her know if I saw a price drop, it wasn't rude/tacky, they already decided to buy it.
I stalk my registry all the time. I'm obsessed with knowing what I'm getting and what I still need to buy. I asked my DF if he wanted to see the list of what people bought already and he said no. I got irrationally annoyed.
I don't want to be at work today at all. I'm uncomfortable, cranky and just want to go home. If there weren't less that 3hours left and I didn't care to keep the time for maternity leave I would have left already. End rant.
@graceriesz You and me both, lady! If I wasn't already leaving early for a doctor's appointment... I'd sooooooo be gone. I thought very seriously about calling in this morning.
Add me to the over work group. Except I'm a sahm and I'm over my 2 yo today. He's thrown fit after fit and wants me to hold him all day and threw his soup on the floor. He fell asleep before nap time so I put him in bed and am ignoring all the chores I need to do for a while so I can rest. My back is hurting today.
I am pretty much over it at work too. I have two projects left before maternity leave, but it is so hard to focus! I just want to be at home working on the baby's room or napping.
For those of you with little boys that take off all of their clothes while pooping, some boys never grow out of it... DH has to take his shirt off. If I walk into our bedroom and see the bathroom door closed and his shirt lying on the bed then I know he needs some privacy men are just little boys that got older.
@JessyKV good for you for putting taking care of yourself before taking care of the house. SAHMs unite!
I think any job that involves children (teaching, SAHM, daycare) where you have to be "on" all the time is difficult, especially during/close to the end of pregnancy.
Oh my gosh @doodleoodle! That is too funny!! I am hoping he at least grow out of taking off everything! The shirt I wouldn't mind near as much hahahaha.
