@mrsrep123 Both actually 1-2 ribs out of place in the back and the pain I feel in the front is baby's feet kicking my ribs. Those ones are still place though.
@nda_roxybabe: I'm so sorry to hear about your ribs being kicked outta place, literally. I can't imagine that pain. Glad you went to the chiro. Hang in there!
@nda_roxybabe that is crazy, I can't believe your ribs are actually being pushed out of place. FX you get some relief.
As an update, the Breathe Right strips worked! Almost no snoring at all last night and H was like "hey, I can breathe out of my right nostril for the first time in weeks!"
@RainyDays86 Thanks! Feeling better after she shoved it (them? I think there were 2) back into place. I was just reading on it and apparently the Relaxin in our systems loosens those ligaments too allowing the ribs to partially pop out of place. That with the uterus or baby adding pressure too. Woohoo.
I love the pics of the pets in the baby gear, too! We have plenty of pets, but I don't want to encourage them to be in the crib/stroller/pack n play.
Speaking of which, I've been wondering about introducing baby to the pets. Anyone have suggestions? Plans? Experiences?
@jayandaplus a lot of people bring home something from the hospital for pets to sniff but I never bothered, I don't do that with other visitors and I don;t get the point, they give the baby, me, and any gear we bring home a good sniff over anyway.
I was proactive though in gating areas from the get go even though we were far from mobility. We have a pretty open floor plan and I could see baby in his RNP in the living room from the kitchen but I had a gate for the living room just so I could keep the dogs out when I wasn't within arms reach. 90% of the time the dogs ignored the baby but it is nice to have a way to guarantee some space during floor play, tummy time, feeding etc. Once he got a little ore alert the dogs were a big nursing distraction and I liked being able to keep them out of the room to prevent niplash.
@jayandaplus Sigh...this is a HUGE issue for us. One I want to cry every time I think about.Like, I've considered starting a thread about.
Our dog has high anxiety and is aggressive towards anyone but us. The exception being the boarder/groomer where he is definitely anxious and acts a bit aggressive at first before warming up. I'm terrified of bringing home baby with him. He is the best dog we have ever had behaviour wise (doesn't chew up stuff, doesn't potty in the house, does not excessively bark, super duper sweet and cuddly), he is just bad with people.
I think once he realizes baby is there to stay he will start to treat them just like us, with lots of love and protection. Our plan in the beginning is to keep baby completely out of his reach and obviously never leave him unsupervised. This is why I've purposely picked a swing that sits up high.
I've been looking into a trainer for him as we are definitely doing that in the next month or so. I found one with great reviews, including a situation near identical to ours (new baby and all), but they said she took the dog for 2 months to re train them. This makes me cry, as in, I am now tearing up typing it. I love my puppy, I don't want to be without him that long! I know it'd be worth it, but.....:(
@jayandaplus we plan on trying to remember to bring something home for him to smell. I honestly believe he has no idea there's something different with me. He's the biggest scaredy cat, but attempts to "protect" me so we have no idea how he'll react. He recently met a baby finally and was all over the baby like white on rice. Luckily he's small so we can keep baby out of reach easier.
On another note, I'm making my "baby" playlist for labor. Any one else? All songs with "baby" in the title or lyrics.
Oooh! I will probably make a playlist and then not use it, haha. I tend to not like added noise in whatever the heck you'd categorize a situation like birth.
@nda_roxybabe , I hope you don't have to turn him over for 2 months! Hopefully the trainer will be able to work with you in your home. He's adorable, btw.
I am in THE worst mood today. I always feel crabby after the glucose test, so I expected it since I went in for one this morning, but I just can't stop being annoyed with the people around me. One of my direct reports asked me if we have a name for the baby. Because I've decided I don't really care to get people's opinions and I'm happy with our choice, I've been telling people as they ask. So I said "yep! She's named--her name is Estelle". Since that conversation (which I believe did not have room for interpretation), she has spent the whole afternoon sending me unsolicited baby name suggestions--even though I keep telling her it's a done deal! Give it up, lady. Have your own kids and name those. UGHHHHHHH.
@Kipperoo How rude! Sometimes I just hate people this pregnancy. Your story makes me instantly fume. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that! For what it's worth, I love "Estelle"!
It's a vibrating like sensation, about every 4 seconds in my low pelvis. I can not feel it from outside. I've felt baby hiccups before and these seem too frequent? Or maybe their head is just really in there??
@Kipperoo you need to start sending her pictures of weird pets from pet finder for every name she gives you!! "Well, my daughter is Estelle, but this parrot sure looks like a Gertrude to me, maybe you should adopt her!"
@nda_roxybabe hiccups is what I would assume. Or maybe the baby is practicing their breathing. I kind of remember that from last time. I only figured it out after I felt it during an elective 3D/4D ultrasound and they told me that's what she was doing. It was faster then hiccups and wouldn't last as long
Is anyone else feeling like they are in constant pain? I'm sure it's RLP but good lord I need a break, the only time I get relief is while taking a hot bath.
I apologize for not reading through the randoms because I am always too overwhelmed with them to do so, but I wanted to share some REALLY good news and I figured this was the best place.
Back when I joined this site I was bellyaching over how to break the news of my pregnancy to my older sister who has struggled with infertility for 4* or so years. When I did tell her when I was about 13ish weeks along she cried and said, "I'm not going to lie, this is hard," though she was very awesome and supportive as well.
Anyway, she implanted an embryo with IVF around Christmas time and just now graduated from doing those daily shots to having no shots and a regular OB. She is PREGNANT, y'all, and probably past all of the scary part! I think she's about 12 weeks or so now.
This time around I know more pregnant people than ever for my other two pregnancies (there are 6 on our block (!!), plus my best friend from childhood, plus a couple of other people I know), but the one I'm most excited about is my sister. I guess I'm still a bit nervous for her but quite frankly it's even better news than me being pregnant (we are super excited but had been on the fence about 2 vs 3 so if we had been done with 2 it would have been ok.)
Given her history I'm going to be nervous until that baby is born but I'm just so so so happy!!!!
*EDITED: I miscounted and wrote 3 years before. It's been more like 4 she has struggled. And I did mention she is my OLDER sister, right? So I was announcing #3 when she still didn't have one. I really couldn't be happier for her now.
Is anyone else feeling like they are in constant pain? I'm sure it's RLP but good lord I need a break, the only time I get relief is while taking a hot bath.
@chickyclg ugh, it def feels like it lately. I'm waddling at work because of pain in both of my groin. Also, baby was laying transverse earlier and I was SUPER uncomfortable.. didn't even think I was going to make it to work. Anyways... def commiserating with you.
I am experiencing a mild pressure & pain behind my pubic bone over the last week. I notice it most when I get up and start to walk. Anyone else have this? Also, I may have had a Braxton Hicks contraction. This weekend I had a dull pain wrap around from lower back and around my waist to my ribs. Lasted about 20 seconds and stopped me in my tracks because I have never experienced anything like it! Any insight?
pubic bone pain could be symphysis pubis dysfunction. Is it worse when you're standing on one leg (like to put pants on) or when you're moving around in bed / getting out of bed?
A dull pain wrapping around your mid-section that lasts about 20 seconds does sound like a braxton hicks contraction.
That's so wonderful for your sister, @kat81! I hope that she has a healthy and uneventful pregnancy.
We got about 5 inches of snow last night. I'm using it as an excuse to WFH, but I feel slightly guilty because normally I don't care how much snow we had and I drive anyways. I do live on a cul-de-sac that's always the last to be plowed, I work in IT so it shouldn't matter if I go to the office or not, and I'm 6 months pregnant... so I think that adds up to it being okay to work from home.
Mini rant: My coworkers - who are all men, by the way - love to gossip, and lately they've been acting like we're in jeopardy of losing our jobs because our company is in talks to merge with another. The company is also in talks to buy 4 more hospitals and kick off a few huge projects, so I think they're full of shit. Even so, it has me worried about buying a house even though we're in the right place financially. I finally told them yesterday to knock it the hell off around me because I'm very pregnant and didn't want to hear the fear-mongering anymore. Don't office rumor mills suck?

@Squirtgun , that parrot just nearly made me spit my coffee into my computer screen. This woman is a crazy cat lady--like, spent $3k on her cat and dresses her up for every occasion possible, so it's TOTALLY fitting.
@kns1988 , office gossip really is the worst. It seems unavoidable. Good for you for telling them to knock it off around you!
@kat81 , that is so exciting for your sister!! And for you to have so many babies that will be close in age to your LO!
My week of constant annoyance with people continues...we are supposed to get 12ish inches of snow today (Boston area) and nearly EVERYTHING is closed, but my stubborn boss will not close the office. Because I am on the management team and don't want to send the wrong message to my team, I am here staring at the snow starting to accelerate and battling with him to close the office. I'm definitely not staying the whole day and I drive a car that is really safe for the snow, but many on my team drive sedans and it's unfair to expect them to come in. I always make it in before everyone, so I've been sitting at my computer watching the sick days and work from home days roll into my inbox and forwarding them to my boss (who owns the company). Hoping he realizes what I've been saying for the past 24 hours is true--it's reckless to expect people to come in given the forecast.
@Kipperoo, that's crazy that he won't close, especially if people have the ability to work from home at your company! I don't understand these old school bosses. I hope you get to leave early.

@chickyclg I'm having bad sciatic pain. Do you know what your pain is exactly? @Kipperoo You have to stay safe! Do what ya gotta do!
@kat81 I was tearing up reading your post! Congratulations to your sister! That's HUGE! We had to do meds, shots, and IUI to get pregnant, and I was prepared it was going to be a long and sad battle. Even at 25 weeks I don't think I can stop holding my breath. I feel for your sister-- four years! And I'm sure it was very difficult for her be supportive of you and also trying to stay positive for another round of IVF. I love hearing infertility success stories, because they are so important! Again, congratulations to her! (I'm going to go cry now.)
@jayandaplus it feels mostly like in my groin and lower belly, I'm debating trying a chiropractor. I get sciatic but it causes numbness through my side and leg.

Yeah I really feel for all of you who struggle with infertility. It has been EXTREMELY hard on my sister and her husband; it's also exceedingly expensive and they really paid all they had to do it. That is another aspect of this that is so important. I'm with you on not being able to stop holding your breath. I've known she has been pregnant for a while but I felt like I couldn't even say it to an anonymous group until she was farther along. And I wouldn't tell a real life person until she's basically had the kid--it would be totally jinxing it otherwise. And GOOD LUCK to you with everything working out!
Okay, guys. Anyone who's looked into or purchased birthing clothes, what are some you liked? Brands? I'm thinking some kind of bra type thing so I can be in pictures but not feel clothed, and then a "nursing gown" (whatever that is) for after? If I plan to be in the water do I need a separate "bathing suit"?
@kat81 So wonderful!! As someone who struggled to get pregnant and hated (not really but kind of) everyone who was getting pregnant around me, including both my SIL, this is such fantastic news!! How great that you two can be pregnant together. Best wishes for her next 6 or so months!!

I ordered 2 bralettes from Aerie. They're both lined. I am planning on wearing one with either a nursing gown or one of the pretty robes I registered for. Milkmaid goods, Pink blush both have pretty robes.
