Has anyone felt a prickly sensation on their skin? It's only been there for a day and is pretty localized to a couple locations on my belly. It could very well go away any minute and have been nothing, but I figured I'd see if anyone else has experienced that. It's not itchy, just prickly if anything is touching it (me, clothes, blankets).
I'm batting 0 this morning. I remembered as I was getting ready at my regular time/ pace that I needed to come in early to do something I forgot Friday. Then when I got in the car I remembered I needed gas (luckily has enough to get me to work). Ugh....
@starphish18 I have not had that, but it sounds irritating. Hope it goes away soon! @bacorrea sorry to hear that hopefully they get it together and get back to you soon!
Im having this pain in my inner leg and it's finally gotten to the point I think I need to bring it up to my doc. Luckily I have an appointment tomorrow morning! I look forward to getting to hear her heartbeat and having the day with DH and DD.
@bacorrea Are you PCSing? Housing waitlists are the worst. When we came here they told us 3-12 month wait. Like 3 months is one thing, but 12 months is a whole other housing option... And then when we were on our drive here, they called and said we have a house available for you in 2weeks. WTF? Great for us, but it's nearly impossible for people to plan!

@bacorrea I hope they tell you soon! I'm sure that's very frustrating. @nda_roxybabe It's Monday! I hope your day gets better. @MrsFox2008 I think it's a good idea to ask your doctor about that pain. I hope it's nothing.

Yes. My husband Ian graduating from CCC this weekend and we are going to Bliss. Originally we were told 6 months and they wouldn't let us get on the waitlist with just the RFO (which is ridiculous). We finally got official orders in December. DH called two weeks ago and they said we were number 22 on the list. He called last week and we are number 5. 5 could mean two weeks or 6 months! They obviously know if people have put their 30 days notice in. It's just obnoxious! As of right now we are hoping to hear more details this week, but we have the finances for DH to stay in a hotel until March. Idk. It's just so frustrating.
So here is a stupid question. Do any of you plan to get these LOs swimsuits? Last time it was just DD and I obviously didn't take her to the pool as she was too young for sunscreen/chlorine/etc. DD is a FISH and I can't imagine not going to the pool all summer just because I'm having DS. It's not like he can go in the pool at 2 months though...so I'm thinking no.
@bacorrea I was just thinking about this with the Target swim deal. I don't ever go to the pool here, but I do want baby to learn to swim and it might be fun. I think I'll wait till we start swim lessons though. Whats the youngest they can do that at?
@bacorrea I was just seriously thinking about this last night. DD absolutely loves to play in the water in the summer, we don't have a pool but she loves playing in the water sprinkler toy that we have. I thought about maybe getting a swimsuit for this LO so we could get splashed a little to keep cool while DD plays in the water.
I was also wondering about swimming. I thought there was some age restriction until 6 months, which was related to regulating body temp. We have a pool and DD will likely spend a lot of time in it this summer. It's in the shade for most of the afternoon so I don't worry about sunscreen most of the time. And the water gets very warm in the summer.
I just did some googling and apparently you can start pool stuff at 8 weeks. Looks like most people start swim lessons around 8months-1 year. I definitely will be doing swim lessons, living somewhere where most people have pools. However, I know it can take forever for baby to learn to swim and I'll be honest, not thrilled with the idea of weekly swim lessons for a year.
@starphish18 I don't feel any tingles, but at night I have issues with things touching me about half way through the night. I imagine that with tingles would get very old very fast. @bacorrea I have 2 swim diapers on our baby registry. We will be at the lake in July, and possibly a pool in August so I figured I would see how it goes and what the doctor says. If anything, at least with a swim suit on by water, baby will have less weight on them if they were to get wet. Also, cuteness.
We usually go the beach in September and DH is already talking about it. I think we'll get a suit, but not sure how much water interaction there will actually be when LO is only a few months old.
DD is three. We haven't started swim lessons yet but will this spring. I always figured lessons before that time were more for introduction to the water, unless you are talking about the survival type lessons. I'm not saying early lessons seem like a bad thing at all. They seem great and fun for parents & kids. DD has always loved the water. DH is a former lifeguard. Not that I would let him be DD's sole lesson provider, but the combo of him and her love for the water has kept us from signing up early. I am excited to get her in structured lessons to teach technique, etc. now.
@bacorrea Ugh frustrating! But exciting that your PCSing! I've heard Bliss is better to be on post than off as well, and that post is like it's own city! We weren't allowed to be on the waitlist even with official orders, DH had to sign out of schooling first which meant we were already in the process of driving there basically. If we had been able to be on the waitlist with official orders we would have had a good 7 months on the waitlist! Housing is ridiculous. @WombThereItIs Are you off post? We are on post right now but traffic here is awful and housing prices were ridiculous. I'm glad we are on post here but we always consider both options depending on where we are at. At Bragg we lived off post.

@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot True! I want to focus on survival for now, which may shorten how long we need lessons for at first?
We have a "water feature" and Jacuzzi in our back yard and while I A. don't intend on letting baby back there w/o supervision and B. Have a chime on the patio door I still don't want to risk it. @hp_momma I will, thank you!
@nda_roxybabe I was researching local swim schools based on this discussion. Hubbard School has free classes until 5 months. I don't think they do survival, but free water play time would be fun.
@bacorrea we will be visiting the beach for family vacation/reunion when this little one is a month old. Of course I don't plan on Baby being in the water nearly as much as DD (if at all). Our pediatrician gave the okay to do whatever we felt comfortable with. That being said I am still looking for a rash guard style suit for the times we will be by the water.
We will likely be getting this LO a swimsuit since DD loves being in the water. I remember putting her in the pool fairly early, but most likely after she was two months old. We will wait with this one too, but they will definitely be in the water early too.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot I have heard good things about Hubbard too! Your comment about survival made me remember that you and @nda_roxybabe should look into ISR swim lessons!! They are all done through private, certified instructors (usually in their home or community pool) and they focus on survival swim lessons for infants/toddlers. Like the lessons where they teach baby to float on their back in full clothing. I've had many friends who did those lessons back home and I would definitely do them with my kids if we lived in AZ!

@starphish18 I just posted about this in the monday ticker change. I didn't really experience this last time... last time I never really got stretch marks, just looked a little bruised around my belly button, but this time the skin on my stomach has stretch marks and is red/purpley and it hurts to touch. It feels prickly when my sheets, shirts, dd, or anything really touches it... it is very uncomfortable!
DD was born in July of '15 and we were in the pool with her (barely... like toes and we tried a little more when we were at a very warm pool) by the end of the summer. We did take her in a bathing suit and keep her in shade and we used a hat, sunglasses, etc on her. You can't use sunscreen until 6 months, so you do need to keep them away from the sun and I'm sure the extreme heat isn't good for any extended time. We just did short spurts because we were dying to be outside.
@bacorrea we will be getting this LO a swimsuit. We live in a beach town in Florida and DD loves the beach.I don't plan on taking him much, but i'm sure he will be there a little.
The main thing I worry about is the sun/sunscreen. I think they advise against sunscreen for LO under 6 months. Anyone know anything more about this? we will have umbrellas and tents, but they actually sometimes don't protect from UV rays 100% and there can be rays bounce off the water.
What do stretch marks look like when they're coming in? My skin imprints super easily and I constantly have marks from clothes, bedding, etc. I keep seeing the marks and freaking out thinking they're stretch marks.
Who has Linea Nigra yet? I think I may be getting it.
Re: Swimming, both my boys got in the pool at around 3 months. It was mostly introducing them to water and also just at my parents pool. We will do the same with this LO.
Re: Linea Negra, I've had it for a while now and what bothers me is there is a top half and a bottom with about a 1 inch gap in between.
@nda_roxybabe I have a linea nigra and have for a while. I like it. It'll fade away after birth, but for now it's like a sign that it's not just a food baby, haha.
I am experiencing a mild pressure & pain behind my pubic bone over the last week. I notice it most when I get up and start to walk. Anyone else have this? Also, I may have had a Braxton Hicks contraction. This weekend I had a dull pain wrap around from lower back and around my waist to my ribs. Lasted about 20 seconds and stopped me in my tracks because I have never experienced anything like it! Any insight?
@bacorrea I will probably get this LO a swimsuit for cuteness factor since DD is a fish and I'd like the option to splash with her. Where we live a lot of people have salt water pools and it stays hot for longer so water play is a favorite around that time of year
@nda_roxybabe I got the linea nigera last lime because I had the white line (there's a name for it that I can't think of) my whole life and honestly never noticed. It got decently dark toward the end but at this point I can't tell if it's darker or not. It never went back white, but it did fade out a lot after having DD where if I didn't tell you I had it, you wouldn't have known it was there by looking
@nda_roxybabe I have a linea nigra, it is very very light compared to my pregnancy with #1. Maybe it'll darken the further along I get but I remember it already being darker at this point last time around.
Thanks guys! I think I do have it very faintly above my belly button. Below my belly button, well, its hard to see down there. I cant tell if what I am seeing is a line from tights/leggings/ etc. (back to the easily imprinted skin) or the start of it.
RE Swimsuits: DH is very anti pool with the baby the first year. DD was born in early Sept and we did a blow up baby pool the following summer and used just an inch or so of fresh water and set it up in a shady area. She was plenty happy playing in that.
This summer now that we have our own yard we will probably get a fun sprinkler for DD to play in, and get a better baby pool for this LO. And DH will probably take her to the community pool every weekends. I do wonder if there are swim diapers out there for a 2mos baby that can contain BF poop.
As for swim lessons, D will be 3 this Sept, but we haven't done lessons yet and we probably won't yet. It's not something we've talked about. We took her a lot last year and she had made so much progress in a couple months with just DH so I guess it's more of a wait and see.
Re: Randoms and Questions 2.6 - 2.10
its like a weirdly restless and prickly discomfort. I would have to take blankets off or pull up my pant legs and walk around a bit.
