Is anyone doing their kegels? My last BMB was all about them, but I haven't heard any mention so far. Full disclosure I got out of the habit after DD was born. (Oops!)
Anyone have older kids with night terrors? DD has been having them. I wish I knew how to avoid them or help her. I feel so bad when she's sad and there's nothing we can do to help her.

@llenadevida900 I am so bad about them!! I can do yoga and stretch and sit on the birthing ball regularly but I hate levels. I still try to do them when I remember (maybe weekly).

Yup! @llenadevida900 I'm obsessed. I do them especially when driving and when in bed, lol.
@llenadevida900, I went to PT for back pain and they gave me a million kegels to do. Pelvic tilt kegel, pelvic tilt and squeeze a ball kegel, butt raise kegel... So yeah, it's part of my few times a week PT work to do kegels. They said pelvic strengthening will help my back and help with the birth.

Ahhh I miss summer. Jealous of everyone who lives near a beach. I found a mom and baby swim class here that you can start as early as 4 weeks. Who is hopping into a pool class 4 weeks after birth??
I asked my doctor if I should start kegels and she mentioned most women aren't really doing kegels unless they learned in PT. I'm still going to try but I haven't started.
In the past, I have taken the glucose test first thing in the morning,so I had been fasting frim the night before. Today, I have an afternoon appointment and was told to fast for 1 hour. Will it matter if I actually fast a little longer? I have errands to run and will be closer to 2 hours of fasting, or does it really matter how long?

I take that to mean "at least one hour" of fasting so I think you'd be fine with longer.
@mrsrep123 - I wasn't very active on the July 15 board until we got closer to the end. I foolishly didn't understand how much I'd need other moms to bounce stuff off of! I've been trying to make an effort to be more active here, since I know how many questions come up once the little one arrives!!
@Yiggle09 I believe swim diapers are actually just suppose to catch poop, they don't catch pee the same way as regular diapers. This is how they work without swelling up, otherwise the water would soak up in them.
Yep. My mother in law put my son to bed one night in a swim diaper instead of a overnight diaper. Pee. Everywhere. Also this is why you don't put them in a swim diaper at home and then drive them to the pool, kill hit have to wash your car seat!
I also would check with wherever you plan to go about what kind of diapers they prefer. Our Y requires disposables, we can't use reusable.
Need to vent a bit this morning... I'm so sick of being sick. My pregnancy immune system is complete garbage and I am up way earlier than I would ever want to be simply because I am coughing so damned hard that I pissed myself awake. Fortunately not enough to effect the bed sheets or what has been happening frequently, coughing so loudly I nearly wretch and wake up both DH and DD. Solution? Make tea, right? Spilled half the water (fortunately not boiling hot, been there, done that, it sucks) all over my legs...So currently sitting in the living room wrapped up in my spare blankets drinking tea and bemoaning my existence. And I can't really go back to bed because I know the moment I actually fall back asleep I'll need to be up for my level II U/S that I am now anxious about. Oh and the check engine light on our car came on...
@OmegaRose3. I hope you start feeling better. I can relate to the crappy immune system. I had a cough a week ago that made my lungs burn and abs sore. This weekend, I had a stomach bug and every time I hurled I peed on myself. Totally disgusting and a little funny looking back on that experience. My check engine light also came on this week. Oh and I'm sitting at my doctor's office for a checkup. The waiting room is packed. They are running behind. We're in the middle of a tornado warning and it's pouring rain. Oh and I have a huge deadline today at work.
@clebl24 I hardly ever get sick, but it's like being pregnant completely throws off my immune system. This is my second cold/sinus infection in the last month or so and I have bum tonsils so I've been staying sick for longer
@starphish18@Jen_Shoes@SKZW Thank you guys! Hopefully it looks up from here, I'll be off to the high risk pregnancy center shortly to get a better look at baby's EIF and I'm crossing my fingers for good news
My immune system has also gone way downhill. That, combined with DS bringing daycare germs home, means I've been congested for the past 2 months Also, I've been getting so many nosebleeds, so I'm scared to blow my nose.
I'm already so behind! I tried to start responding yesterday, but work got in the way...
On swimsuits, I had no intentions of buying this little one a bathing suit, but my mom has already sent 3 (!) 0-6 month ones, AND a friend of mine just sent one as a baby gift...so she's got them, but I don't know that we will use them. My 2.5 DS is in swim lessons now and has been since around 10 months. He goes weekly for a half hour and it's more about getting comfortable with the water than it is survival, but I think it's been good for him because he's naturally afraid of A LOT of things.
@Jen_Shoes , I'm glad you guys had fun in Vegas! You looked adorable and I'm totally impressed that you managed those shoes!
@mamatowildones , congrats on LO #1 moving onto preschool! All of the milestones are so bittersweet. I hope he loved it!
@thistlenweeds , congrats on passing your GD test!! I have to go in for my second one tomorrow (after passing my first a few weeks ago)...I'm nervous but hopeful!
@OmegaRose3 , I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I think there is almost nothing worse than being sick while pregnant. I hope you get some rest and start to feel better soon.
@clebl24 , I had a similar experience yesterday...sitting in a waiting room for a doctor that was super behind, thinking about the deadline I was clearly going to miss at work. It's so frustrating.
Mom of the year, right here. went to get my son ready for daycare this morning and he had clearly thrown up at some point last night. I felt terrible that he slept in it and I somehow missed it, even though I have a monitor on all night next to my head, so I have a feeling he slept through it. Got him up, cleaned off, checked his temp, asked him how he was feeling, gave him some juice and breakfast and made sure he kept it down--all TOTALLY normal. I texted daycare and asked if I should bring him in and they said as long as he didn't have a fever and could hold food down this morning, they would take him. So...due to a bunch of meetings art work today that would have been really hard to cancel, I sent him to daycare against my better judgement. But I feel like a pretty crap mother and I keep checking my phone...
@kipperoo I've been in the same situation all winter with my DS. He's been coughing with a runny nose literally all winter and I feel terrible that he goes to daycare. He doesn't have a fever and is super happy but I still feel like a crappy mom. Mom guilt is the worst and it's hard to juggle working full time and being a mom.
The sick kid/ daycare battle is the worst. I thought this recent NPR article was interesting, especially the part about pink eye. I mean, I don't want other people to send their sick kids if my kid is healthy. But it seems like current guidelines don't really prevent the spread of the illness.
Thanks for the support, ladies. I'm usually pretty good at sparing myself the mom guilt, but this morning was a little rough. @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot , that is a really interesting article and it makes a lot of sense. By the time the sickness has manifested itself, it's probably already all over the daycare. And we go to public play spaces all of the time...our kid is constantly exposed to that stuff, so I guess it kind of just comes with the territory. Our daycare is really lax--basically, unless he has a fever, they will take him. And I'm sure they will let me know if he gets sick again. Sigh...
@OmegaRose3 I hope your appointment goes well and that your day picks up! @clebl24 I hope your appointment goes well too! And I'm glad you can now laugh at throwing up and peeing yourself, but I'm sure that was rough at the time. @kayemjay2 I've had a stuffy nose for months as well. It may actually be rhinitis of pregnancy (basically pregnancy stuffy nose) rather than an illness. I'm pretty sure that's what it is in my case. Annoying as hell, but normal. @Kipperoo I have absolutely been in that same situation. If he seemed ok this morning and was able to keep food down I'm sure he was fine. Kids are weird like that - they throw up for no apparent reason and then are totally fine and happy.
Two questions for you all: 1) is anyone experiencing sore boobs? The last week or so I find that every morning when I wake up both of my boobs feel really full and sore. I am assuming it is just normal pregnancy boob changes but I'm obviously a bit paranoid about boob health at this point. I'm going to ask my oncologist about it when I see her next week but wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this. 2) Has anyone had any experience with nasal strips to prevent snoring? For some reason H has been snoring like crazy all night long for the last few nights. He says hes not congested but it is killing me and I am willing to try ANYTHING to get him to stop. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated!
@rainydays86, I find a well placed kick and grunt gets Dh to rollover. Although he often snores on his stomach. I'd love to slap a breathe right strip on him if it would help.
@rainydays86, I find a well placed kick and grunt gets Dh to rollover. Although he often snores on his stomach. I'd love to slap a breathe right strip on him if it would help.
Usually that's what I do and he rolls over. But the last couple of days he's been snoring even when he's not on his back. I definitely kicked him all night long but it didn't prevent him from snoring for very long each time.
@OmegaRose3 FX for your level II u/s. Keep us updated on the EIF. Hope your day turns around
@clebl24 g'luck at your appt... throwing up & peeing = no bueno!
@Kipperoo aw, that does sound rough but like pp have said, your son is probably fine and keeping his routine is most likely best.
@RainyDays86 hope your boob pain IS pregnancy related. My BIL has some crazy snoring (wakes him up) and said once he tried the breathing strips, it was all good. I'd say to give it a shot!
@RainyDays86: Yes to the sore boobs. I had them up until just recently. It hurt to have people give hugs, it was so uncomfy! I found that wearing a nursing tank at night kept them more secured, which helped. Warm compresses and Tylenol too. Hope it doesn't last too long for you!
Yes to the breathe-right strips for the hubbs! The ol' nudge usually does the trick, but like once a year for a few-week period he snores all night long, probably b/c of seasonal allergies, so he does the strips. Store brand works fine for him, so I'd start there for the cost savings!
@RainyDays86 Yes!!! My husband is a horrible snorer, and I have been known to kick him out to the couch sometimes because I just can't sleep through it. A friend told me to go to Costco and get the extra strength breath right strips, and THEY WORK!!! It's only been a couple of weeks, but it is AWESOME!! Also, yes. Lately my boobs have been feeling sore. Not pain so much as just... Kind of like when you're nursing and they feel like you need to feed baby if that makes sense? Like full, but definitely not engorged feeling.
Guys, after looking at the Feb boards and seeing all the babies arriving, I went to the "date to date" counter on timeanddate and I have only 102 days til EDD! That seems not that far away, right?!
That means a whole bunch of you are in the 90s already too!
All this talk about breathe right strips makes me think I need to get some for DH too, his snoring is awful. Usually a quick kick to the shins works for him but with the amount of times I'm waking to pee it would be nice if his snoring wasn't waking me too.

@RainyDays86 i get engorged nipples every now and then but they only really get sore if i'm cold and they contract (like in the freezer aisle at a grocery shop lol)
@Kipperoo We had a similar situation last Monday. DD woke up and asked for water and after drinking an ungodly amount went back to sleep to wake up not long after sat up and threw up everywhere! So. Much. Water. But anyway she threw up a little more shortly after so I figured it was going to be the start of some big thing but apparently that was it because she was perfectly normal thereafter with no other symptoms so FX to your LO!
@rainyDays86 I haven't had sore boobs but they do feel SUPER full in the mornings when I wake up. I think its common to have sore boobs/nipples/fullness. Oh and I'm team kick/grunt to get fiance to roll over when he's snoring. It normally works, but sometimes he'll roll his face right into mine, then its a full on waking up and making him roll over.
my random: I've already started to develop nipple crusty.... I assume its due to the minor leakage and it drying. But still not the most attractive. It's not enough to warrant using nursing pads yet, but just enough to annoy me.
I have such awesome friends. Three of them are hosting my baby lunch (trying to avoid the word shower here), of them two work with me and the third one (main instigator of the lunch) works with me too but from the client side and before that as an employee of another vendor for the same client. I thought it would be mainly work friends + 1-2 non-work friends but they've also volunteered to invite my family here (which is really only the in laws (my own family of origin is back in Russia) who are also super nice people), so my mother and sister in law. That's so sweet of them to think of that. I just feel so lucky to have them.
@RainyDays86 My boobs have definitely been more sore! Even some sharp (growing?) pains. Good to check with your oncologist though.
Also, I love breathe right strips. I use them when I'm sick or stick em on DH when his snoring is out of hand.ay not work 100% but I always feel it helps.
@nda_roxybabe Not sure what you're asking... Why would your rib be out of place? Did you injure yourself?
@RainyDays86 I've also woken up a few mornings with very sore boobs but it fades after a few hours. Can second @jayandaplus on the sharp pains that feel like growing pains.
