@kjd291 i feel ya...i told DH i am dying for the day when someone says "any day now huh?" and I can finally say "YES!" i've been getting it since about 20 weeks
Date Question: does it matter if they're dried? I don't think I can take 6 a day if they're soft like they come from Costco. I had to gag it down.. so I've got them drying in the oven. I hope they work the same.
I thought the ones from Costco were dried? (wrinkly like prunes?)
I love dates so much. If grapes are the candy of the fruit world, dates are the honey. Mmmmmmmmmmmm
@longliveregina they probably are haha, yes they're wrinkly but the soft inside made me think I could dry them more. I'm going for raisin texture. They were in the oven today for a good 5 hours!
@pandalily you remind me that i still need to get honey sticks for my labor. and gatorade packets bc no matter how many varieties I try the coconut water is a no go for me! lol
I wish I had stuffed a few dates with goat cheese for a snack in the office today. I am already hungry & they would SO hit the spot right now.
Our hospital snacks will probably be RX bars (paleo protein bars), nuts, fruit (clementines and apples) and smartwater. I'll probably get some jerky too because I haven't been eating it while KU and love it as a snack. Will be nice to have PP (unless I still need to be SUPER strict about nitrates with BF). Not sure if some of my fav brands are nitrate free or not. I haven't bothered to look.
my hope is to labor mostly at home so i think as long as i'm up to it ill make myself some kind of meal in early labor. soup, pasta, chicken or whatever sounds good in the moment. i figure ill just bring some honey sticks, gatorade to water down and maybe those belvita crackers for the hospital. i'm hoping to get there pretty far along and therefore not have that much time for snacking haha
I'm not planning on bringing snacks. The hospital birth center has drinks and snacks in a room for patients and partners to grab if they want them-and I don't really care to pack my own. Im also not planning on going to the hospital till I reach the point I don't want food in labor anyway-so it'd just be the 24hrs post birth that we're required to stay and once baby is out DH can go wherever he wants for food (caf or local store)
We're packing a ton of snacks, mostly for DH and post-partum though. I'm bringing honey sticks and gatorade for labor (the unit stocks jello and such). Other than that, we're packing a ton of regular snack food. DH gets hangry really fast and I won't want him to have to leave during labor, so I need to make sure he's well supplied. Also, I want yummy things after lo arrives.
I'm in the hospital now with a blood clot (so painful, avoid it!!) and the contents of my labor bag are changing as a result. No need for snacks for me. The hospital has plenty of options.
I do appreciate having my own toiletries. I thought I'd want contacts, but glasses are are better. I wish I had my own towel.
Im comfortable in the hospital gown, though I can see wanting my own clothes if I'm nursing. I have things to do, but haven't really had the energy.
As much as I really don't want to be here, the dry run is nice.
Our last hospital was downtown, and the cafeteria was surprisingly really good. We ordered meals, even for DH, and never left. It wasn't worth him getting the car out of the parking garage, etc.
This time around our hospital is suburban with a million options plus a grocery across the street. Also it's a mile from home. So I imagine he can run out for takeout a few times. So, I'm not going to bring any snacks into L&D.
I told my midwife I was fine passing on cervical checks at my appt. They don't do them unless you request it. I don't know how many weeks I'll be able to pass on them though... the curiosity might win me over in a few. Especially as you all post your progress! ANd Most definitely if I have to go in for my "past due date" appointment
