ok now i feel like i am about to sounds like a "catfish" or a one-upper/AW type. But i have to say this b/c it makes me happy to hear. I know William Jackson Harper who plays Kristen Bell's soulmate on TGL. He was in an indie film I produced lasts year. You guys he is one of the best people I have ever met. He is incredible sweet and naturally very funny. He had considered quitting acting so I am so happy this show has happened for him. It makes my heart glad to know people like the show.

Guys, my (19yo) baby brother is getting married in April! He said he wanted to be married to his gf before he goes on his first deployment. I don't even know how to process this info right now!
@LivingLaVidaGinger whoah Nelly. I wouldn't know how to process that either! I hope they can really make it work, I've seen so many relationships get kicked into high gear because of a deployment. It's natural but both a tour and a marriage are such life changing events,
Oh wow @LivingLaVidaGinger. That is intense! I do know of one couple that got married that young and is doing well now three years in (also military) so it can work, but it's gotta be so tough. Is he a pretty mature/serious guy?
@LivingLaVidaGinger I got married at 21 before we had graduated college, I know it's slightly older but still pretty young. It's seemed to have worked out so far...
@LivingLaVidaGinger my friend and his wife got married before his navy deployment. Neither of them have family so he wanted her to be taken care of if something happened. They had some rough patches but they're happily married for 11 years now. It can work if they are mature!
I just had two bowls of Apple Jacks for breakfast and they were delicious. Trying to use up some of the cereal boxes in my pantry because we are out of room.
Married - 7/29/06 Ben and Maggie - 4/10/09 Mia - 6/16/11 Surprise! due 2/23/17
Another fan of the Good Place here... It was way better than I expected and I was finally able to convince DH to give it a try.
Good news this morning: the mystery bump on my dog's face is benign! As long as it clears up on it's own (which the pathology report suggested it should due to some sort of white blood cells in the sample), we can avoid surgery and everything else. I'm so relieved! Tomorrow is the annual check-up for my two cats. Assuming that goes normally, every creature in the household should be ready to face LO's arrival with a clean bill of health. (DH even went to get his tdap yesterday!).
@LivingLaVidaGinger 19 seems so young! But my sister's stepdaughter got married to her high school sweetheart when they were 19, she was pregnant, and he had just entered the Navy. Seven years and two kids later, they are still very happily married! So it can definitely work...
I'm hoping it works out for them! It's nice to hear all the success stories! I think it's just hard for them because he's in Texas and she's in NC. I did the long distance thing with H for about 6 months, so I know how sad and lonely it can get. I never pinned my brother as the settle down and get married kind of guy, but they seem to be very serious and committed so more power to them. I got married three months shy of my 21st birthday and we've been going strong for almost three years now, so I know it isn't impossible!
@LivingLaVidaGinger Another success story! My BFF in high school married her high school sweetheart when she was only 19 and he was in the Marines. They've been married almost 7 years and have a DD and a DS due in March
@LivingLaVidaGinger neither my husband nor I were military, but I was 19 and he was just 18 when we got married. March we'll be married for 11 years, (together for 12) and are currently on baby number 3!! We for sure had rough patches (real rough) but the way we see it is we got the "for worse" part out of the way and can enjoy all the "for better" knowing it won't get any worse than it was before. yay!! And congratulations to your brother... you can be the cool sister in law!
My husband and I got married when I was 18 and he was 20. We've been married 8 1/2 years now and are on baby 3. He actually is in the navy now, but wasn't when we got married- not till almost 5 years after actually. We feel the same way @kswiger06
Guys guys guys!!!!! First of all I just want to say thanks to everyone who sent thoughts and prayers to my brothers girlfriend. She's doing a lot better though still intubated and still with an open abdomen. She delivered their baby, a little boy, and were able to name him and get hand prints and foot prints. Y'all were so sweet and supportive by far the best BMB I have ever sort of been a part of! So honored.
Also!!! i saw a heart beat!!!! 171 bpm!! Aaahhhhh!!! Weeeeeee!!! I love y'all too much thanks for letting me be a part of your BMB even though i had an angel baby!
@lap018 there is no sort of, you are part of! So glad your brothers gf is on the mend & they were able to have some special memories of their baby. Also, super excited for you too! Xxx
Not sure if this deserves its own thread or not, but I am interested in knowing if anyone is trying out and of the "old wives tales" to induce or help with labor. i.e. dates, raspberry leaf tea, acupuncture, sex etc and what their experiences and results have been.

I second @krob's question! I am doing acupuncture, raspberry leaf tea, and having sex (ugh haha) - but FTM so no idea if these are helping/will help at all. I'm 37 weeks and as of today my cervix is soft but not dilated. I've been seeing my acupuncturist every two weeks for the whole pregnancy, and she is going to start the induction points tomorrow and we will do them weekly from now until I deliver with the goal of going into spontaneous labor by 40 weeks. My family history is that my mom and sister both had to be induced at 42 (ish) weeks with both of their babies, so I'm hoping to avoid induction if possible.

I was curious with my first and so i tried sex, spicy foods and going for walks. I only went into labor at 40+5 weeks.... I think some of these may help move things along if you're actually in early stages of labor but I don't believe any of them will help kick start anything if your body isn't ready.

@krob@MissMerciBeaucoup i tried all the things, and kiddo went 3/4 days post dates. I did an induction session with my acupuncturist and prodromal labour started that night, so there's that. I did the raspberry leaf tea, one pot a day, everyday as of 36 weeks. I had a really complicated birth and the strength and tone of my uterus was the only reason they didn't have to convert to a c-section. It's not like I was doing weightlifting exercises with my uterus, so I assume the RRL was the reason behind that.
I also ate dates daily, pineapple whenever I convinced my husband to hit the grocery store, sex whenever I could, hot sauce, walking with one foot on the curb, one on the street.... I generally think that babies are like wizards: never early or late, arriving exactly when they mean to. But doing all that gave me something to focus on
@krob with my last I tried all the things!!! Minus castor oil and I still had to be induced at 41+1. Womp womp... so I agree with @concreteangell and @poetryandoceans (I think we posted at the same time)
@lap018 squeee!! I'm so happy you got to see the heartbeat! Also glad to hear that your brother's girlfriend is doing better, I hope she has everything she needs to continue healing.
@krob I have been having sex more, walking the best I can (but it's so uncomfortable!) and making my food a little spicy but I doubt any of those will help except maybe sex if he's already getting close. I'll try acupuncture if needed after my EDD.
Hey y'all, Gap Canada AND Gap USA (I think) are having 40% off online sales right now. I just stocked up on some nursing tops. Don't be like me and put off thinking about that until you have boobs the size of melons and a need to leave the house...
@poetryandoceans - I'm here now! I'm so sorry... I've been crazy sick for weeks and basically wanting to die. We can't seem to catch a break around here, health-wise. I don't have the energy to do or say anything to or for anybody. I've basically barricaded myself in my home and don't talk to anybody who doesn't live in my actual home. Self preservation, I guess. I'm sorry I didn't see your PM! Congrats on your little man!!
@LivingLaVidaGinger my best friend married her HS sweetheart at 19, he was in the marines, and they've been married 7 years now & are going strong. A few bumps, but thats any marriage, especially when you're young. Me & H eloped after 6 months when he was in the Navy, but I was 22 and H turned 25 that weekend. In that timespan, we've also seen several of his Navy buddies go through marriages and divorces due to immaturity. Usually, it's been a pattern of the girl not being as committed, or not quite understanding the life change of being married into the military. Not to be discouraging because it can definitely work, they just both need to be on the same page about what they want & expect. Sending good vibes for them!
@lap018 I'm glad they were able to get some sort of closure for that heartbreaking situation.. As for your new little rainbow, I'm so happy for you!!! Congrats, and I'll be here cheering you along!
@lap018 Congratulations on the healthy heartbeat! So exciting!
@krob I tried to eat some dates today, but I only made it through 2. I'm going to have to do a lot better the next few weeks if I have any hope of them working.
I don't know if this is even a thing but I know Larabars are made with mostly all dates. That might be a good alternative if you think dates are gross. At least there's like chocolate chips in them haha!
@lap018 Yay! So exciting!! You are always welcome here. I'm also glad to hear the news about your SIL. That is such a tragedy but I'm glad they got those comforts.

For the raspberry tea leaf drinkers, how often are you drinking it? More than a cup a day?
