Re: January Randoms

  • Same here with sex, I would really like to have it more, but it is still uncomfortable and I am not comfortable with my body (the stretch marks, leaky, saggy boobs). I just don't like my body right now although DH says I look fantastic.

  • So in another working mom fail, I fell asleep at my desk during my last pumping session at work (I pump at 4:45 and leave at 5:10 to get C). When I woke up, it was 5:42, I have to get C by 6 PM! I got on the metro, called daycare and sprinted to her to get there at 6:02, I felt horrible, but her teachers were very understanding, but what if I didn't wake up to 7?

This is why I wish my family lived closer or that my husband didn't work nights (police officer), I can tell the night routine is wearing me down, considering I am falling asleep while pumping at work. By time I pick up C, walk home, feed her, spend some time together, get her to bed, eat dinner, do some school work, pump and get her bottles ready for the next day it is already 11/midnight. Which gives me no time to clean my house or unwind from the day, which is causing me even more stress, since we live in such a small place, where clutter happens easily. Is anyone going through this? I know I am supposed to take care of myself so I can take care of C and DH, but how?
  • I've been all about bumping again this week and avoiding the work on my desk...libido has been about the same as it was before pregnancy and in early stages of pregnancy. Sex has changed a little though - for the better. For whatever reason (maybe it was seeing all I went through to bring his child into the world) DH has been more open to trying different things which has been nice because I felt like sex had just become a routine. It's a nice change of pace...hopefully you ladies begin to feel some desire back! By no means do I feel comfortable in my body with my new stretch marks but that's why the lights go off ;)
  • About the sex: I haven't even tried. And part of my hesitation is the fear of getting pregnant. But all the other stuff too -- unsexy feelings, exhaustion, body image, pain...

  • I have zero desire...we've done it about three times.  Once we get going, I remember that it's nice   :p but getting to that point is the problem. I'm happy with my body but I also feel super exhausted and am needing some 'me time' by the time bed rolls around. I'm trying to be better because I know DH takes it personally... but meh.
  • This sounds weird, but once my period came back so did my sex drive. We are back to normal now! It is pretty nice. For awhile there I did have trouble. It was hard when I was so tired and felt ugly.
  • No tv here for M yet. Sometimes she'll glance up at what we're watching but I hadn't even thought to put a show on for her! We listen to lots of music though.

@LDSJM123 LO loves music too! This may stem from listening to excessively loud music in the car when he was in utero on my way to and from work.
Now he will squat up and down if we hold him up with his feet on the ground or bounces in the exersaucer if its on....pretty adorable!!!

  • @Jodi1980 oh yes, we have babyfirst tv on usually when I am in the shower or doing something where i need her to be distracted.  Peekaboo, rainbow horse, color crew, and notekins are favorites.  She has zero interest in some shows and is fixated on others.
  • AJ loves watching morning news...? He also likes Sara and Duck (a british children's show) and he did tummy time for almost an hour while watching Star Wars with Daddy. Otherwise I try to avoid TV.
  • Phew! So glad I'm not alone in the zero sex drive thing. Maybe when I get my period again it'll come back. Or once I lose this tummy pooch and feel sexy again.
  • @FTM53 P loved Sarah & Duck!!! I did too, if we're being completely honest, haha. Such a cute show.

Frozen is like baby hypnosis..... as soon as the first song comes on P is completely zoned in. It gets the dishes done, no shame here!

I've read too many articles about the bad effects of tv on kids and I believe they are right

Bump keeps eating my post and won't save my edits...grr!

I've read too many articles about the bad effects of tv on kids and I believe they are right:(  DH and I only watch tv when the girls are sleeping unless our favorite teams are playing in a game.  We did a decent job (not great) of keeping DD1 from watching tv until she was 2.  Unless we were sick because you can only read so many books on the couch before you get bored!  It will be harder to keep DD2 away from tv since her sister likes to watch it in the mornings and after rest time.  For now I can just turn her around but she will soon be mobile.
  • We don't let E watch tv. She is obsessed with screens already! We have a hard time when we go to other people's houses and they have their tv or computer on. She won't interact with toys or people. My current rule is no tv until 2, with exceptions for sickness.
  • We have the Tv on a lot at home, but I don't like him to watch it so I strategically place his toys/jumper out of the way of the TV. We have it mounted over our fireplace so it's hard if he is on the floor to watch it. I haven't noticed him watching it when he is playing with toys on the floor. He will get distracted if I am holding him and he can see it, but we try to do a good job of making sure he doesn't watch. We thought we would never watch TV until he was sleeping, but that is unrealistic for me so I just try to be diligent about it.
  • Now that a lot of us have started solids for our LOs, what are you ladies using to get stains out of their clothes? I'm about ready to give up on carrots even though the twins love them. I just can't get the stains out!
  • I just posted this on the UO, but I feel like all I do is read baby books and I need a good book for me. The only problem is when I start looking for something I'm interested in I get distracted or bored of looking and end up just watching tv to relax. So... anyone read any good books lately? Or if you haven't (because life) then what's one of your favs? Thanks!
  • I just read Secrets of a Charmed Life and really liked it! One of my favorite books is What Alice Forgot. I read it when I was pregnant with my first child and could really relate to the main character. I totally relate to reading too many parenting books. I try to alternate between parenting books and fiction, but that doesn't always happen! Have you read Unbroken, Gone Girl or Still Alice? I loved those as well.
  • @arhodes6 Not sure if you're a Fixer Upper fan, but The Magnolia Story by the Gaines was a quick and really fun read!

@holly142 out of all of those I have only read Gone Girl. The Author of What Alice Forgot is one of my favs, I have read almost everything she has done except that one! Big Little Lies is awesome.

@winnie1122 I love them. Relationship goals. Thanks!
  • Baby oxy clean for stains. Nat made a white outfit doodie coloured one day and it completely came out when I used that stuff. It's miraculous.
Any constipation remedies for baby? We've been told to use cereals with her because her weight is a little low. However the introduction of these has seemingly caused a backup on her poor little tummy.
  • Carrots are no joke!!! I didn't realize how much they would stain so I didn't even bother with extra cleaning solution prior to washing. Definitely learned now!!
  • @AshGee18 Prunes!! Same problem here and prunes worked. Just be prepared for the mess.
  • Random thought of the day: If DS had eggs for breakfast and I had chicken sausage and eggs, how wrong is it to say we had a Mommy and me breakfast? Is that mean to the chicken?
  • @arhodes6 anything by Liane Moriarty

  • Pears or apples have worked for us to get little buddy pooping again.
  • @shaylalr I don't sign but we have songs for different tasks. He loves them and they keep him calm lol. I'm sure once he learns to cover his ears, that's what he'll be doing.
