I know January 1 is supposed to be super motivation to be awesome day, but I'm the most unmotivated ever. DH has been sick for the last few days, I can't keep the house even close to clean, and P hasn't been letting me out of his sight, so we're watching cartoons in our PJs at 1in the afternoon and it's fine.

I'm pinning all my goals and motivation on Pinterest, as a "visual reminder".... all while eating, drinking coffee, and being parked on the couch. I feel you on the motivation train. I put on jeans today, I'm calling it a win.
Off to a great start for 2017. Fed my babies organic oatmeal and organic bananas. DH and I ate McDonald's breakfast (my idea). DH lovingly called me "human garbage" which made me laugh so hard. I've made some really questionable food choices lately (i.e. Oreos, buffalo pretzels, frozen pizzas, mac and cheese).
About to go take a Nerf gun to the dog next door for barking incessantly during (what was) nap time. Literally barked for over an hour straight and is still barking. That stupid dog has ruined more hard-earned naps than I can count and his owner never brings him in or makes him stop. Ughhhhhhh.

We may have a crawler soon.. E is up on her hands and knees rocking quite a bit. She's also scooting around on her butt. We baby-proofed the apartment yesterday. I can't believe my baby is mobile!
Happy new year ladies! I pulled my lucky number at the deli counter this morning and AJ took two great naps today so far. I even got one in! So far it has been a much better year than the last half of 2016!
@winnie1122..uhh! That's the worst. You could 1) start buying the dog steak and give him some right at nap time 2) Call animal control/sheriffs office. Why even have a dog if you aren't going to train it and care for it?
@shanparadise That made me laugh!! A lot of how things have gone in our house. Only the best for her...us on the other hand eat Taco Bell regularly and popcorn is considered a healthy snack. Yesterday's lunch was mad and cheese! We might need to look at making better food choices as a family, haha!
Anyone have an exersaucer? Would you say it's worth the space it takes up? We have a small living room. Someone gave us one, and I thought I would just swap it in for the mamaroo, but M is still loving the mamaroo. Just wasn't sure if it's worth putting together .
@LDSJM123 Ours is loved. We have the skip hop one. My mom and husband get more time out of it than I do. She'll sit in it for a bit with me but would prefer me to carry her and do my chores one handed than to watch me from the activity center. But all in all, worth it here!!
@LDSJM123 We love it, it buys me dishes and a load of laundry most days, and it's fun to watch him figure everything out and play independently. I usually put him in it and a musical kid's show on and rush through a couple chores while he's content. We call ours the fun bucket, lol.

@LDSJM123 Jaxon got an exersaucer for Christmas and he's been in it for hours ever since. When we take him out he tries to bounce on us. I think it wears him out so he's been sleeping better!
@LDSJM123 We have the world travelers one from Evenflo. B would live in it if I let him. He occasionally lets R have a turn in it, but not without suffering some serious FOMO. We live in an old 100 year old house and space is very, very limited and it is beyond worth the chunk of living room it takes up.
Thank you for the help! Looks like we'll be putting it together.
Random GTKY question.
I just learned, according to the car seat lady, that most infant seat handles can be up or down (safely) when in the car. I thought they had to be down! So, is your handle up or down?!
Ours is down. I'm a creature of habit and we're 6 months in. No going back now.
@LDSJM123 ours was down. We just made the switch to a convertible seat over the weekend though-no more handles!
May I ask where you live? We've talked about making the Switch too, but since we're in Ohio, and winter can be pretty rough, the infant seat is handy right now. Logistics of babywearing with winter coats, getting in and out of the car, all while keeping M warm is all enough to make my head spin. What do you do when you're shopping?
Ha! Funny question. Husband prefers down...for sight reasons. I prefer up!! It's a clear difference between us though. He made me reach back and pull the handle back at a stop sign yesterday because when I put her in I "forgot" to pull the handle back, haha!!
So I have been trying to go to the Y the last few months for some me time. Today I started a weight lifting class. I not only proved to myself that I'm horribly out of shape but also that my bladder control is not what it used to be. Lordy lordy look who is 140...
@LDSJM123 from another OH girl I switched to a convertible seat at 4 months...mainly because DD HATED her infant seat. She wanted to be more upright and just wasn't comfortable anymore. At this point...i think it may be easier for me than the infant seat. At 5 months she was 19.5 lbs...my guess is around 22 or 23 lbs now so lifting that seat with her in it would be a haul. It is much easier now that she holds herself up so I can carry her with one arm on my hip because she supports herself. As far as the cold goes...I put a tight fitting knit sweater on her that is pretty insulated but NOT puffy so the carseat straps/tightness isn't an issue. Always have a hat on her. I start the car early to warm it up when possible. I also keep a blanket in the car to wrap around her to go in and out of the store/etc for another layer of warmth since she doesn't have a full blown winter coat on. I've even unzipped my coat and put her inside my coat with me and wrapped it around her as well.
@kmurdock925 M is the total opposite. She's not even 14 pound yet. She just started sitting up this past week, so she's not super sturdy yet. I do the same with a not puffy coat. We picked her up a fleece jacket. I wrap a blanket around her once she's buckled in. I miss baby wearing at the store!
@LDSJM123 we live in WI so it gets freezing here, too. If it's super cold, I don't take her out at all, we stay in all day. But we've done a couple trips since we made the switch-she has a fleece coverup, plus a hat, then I cover her with a blanket if we're heading into the store. She's in a carrier so she's close to my body and that helps, too. She's a bigger girl (don't know exact stats, we head to the dr tomorrow) but she was almost 16 lbs at 4 mo so it was getting to be way too heavy to carry the infant seat around. We had been leaving it in the car anyway, so we figured we'd try the convertible out. She loves it so far!
I think I missed something, why aren't people baby wearing anymore? Is it because the babies don't like it or...?
I keep DD2 warm in the car seat with a sweater or light jacket, hat, booties and a blanket. If I'm quickly going in and out somewhere I just wrap her in the blanket. If I'm going shopping, I still babywear her in my Boba. She's 6 months and 18 lbs.
I just find baby wearing tricky right now. Mostly, once I get in a store, I have to take off my winter coat, find a place to put M down, put on whatever wrap/carrier I'm using, and then get her in it. It's just been too cold to do all that outside by the car because I take her coat off while I'm wearing her. @holly142
@schaze we live in Wisconsin too and do the same exact thing. I'm glad we aren't the only ones to huddle in when it's frigid. The only thing I hate doing is having to take him with me when I walk my dog. He old and really slow. I do babywear him and just bundle him up. Kinda like the little brother from A Christmas Story.
Does anyone else have issues keeping socks on their LOs? I rarely have an issue with B, but R takes great joy in kicking her socks off. DH taught her how to take them off with her hands this past weekend (I contemplated many ways to kill him in his sleep...). I bought her some TOMS boots with Velcro around the ankles, but it's a pain to have to put shoes on her when we're not even leaving the house. Anyone have some magic socks that stay on?
Picture taken just after she got her socks off. Pure joy.
Definitely the carrier. Or possibly that you aren't wearing the carrier correctly. I wear the 35 pound 3 year old I nanny for with no problems. What type do you have? @kmurdock925
I second the carrier issue. You may not be positioning the carrier correctly. Do you front or back ware? If I'm doing long term carries, I use my Ergo but if it's just to get DS to calm down I use a wrap. The Ergo bothers my back much less.
For a budget carrier (under $50) Infantino Mei Tei Sash is good for the price in terms of comfort. If you're looking to babywear for a long while (until toddlerhood) I reccomend saving up or taking the plunge on an ergo, Tula, or Lillie baby. All are great and people tend to be very loyal to their brand preference They're all in the $110-$160 range. There are stores that carry them and will let you try before you buy. You're in Columbus right? You can come visit me in Akron and I'll be happy to take you my favorite spots near me! @kmurdock925

I take DS to his 6 month appointment this month. Where has the time gone?!

It worked really well when she was smaller
