I use the Ergo frequently for baby wearing and haven't started to feel any discomfort yet. She's just shy of 15lbs, and loves to forward face ONLY in it....so she's awake and never "dead weight". I imagine carrying them while sleeping feels different.
@shanparadise YES!!!!!! to your sock issue. I am so tired of the countless comments from all my mom's older friends. None of our younger parent friends ever comment. Probably because they've "been there done that" with their kids. If we're over battling her and outside the house we just bundle a blanket around her. But as for socks that I've found that work.....Trumpet above and beyond all others. Not CHEAP, but effective. I've also had good luck with Old Navy and Baby Gap, which I imagine use the same production companies. My mom bought her a bunch of Carter's socks. Those are a joke....she's literally pulled off one in the time you're trying to get the other one on.
shanparadise ha! she looks so proud of herself! I've not had good luck with socks staying on unless she has on tight leggins that i can tuck them under. Do the Toms stay on their feet well? I haven't had good luck with finding shoes that she doesn't kick off almost immediately.
lmao....socks are as good as chew rags for one of my two dogs! I did however purchase 0-6 month socks from old navy and they have been staying on his feet. I usually take them off at daycare when I drop LO off in the morning knowing he will most likely lose one or both. He loves to kick them off!
@kmurdock925 I have that same carrier and it makes my back/shoulders hurt as well. I have been considering purchasing a better one; I'm just not sure if it's a worthwhile investment for us. I don't babywear all that often but I question if it's only because the carrier I have is uncomfortable...
C is usually pretty good about keeping his socks on, but slippers or shoes? Forget it! I did get him a cute pair of winter duck boots that lace up and they stay on fine since they go over his ankles.
Yup. I'm with you @jjtruffles. I don't know if it is worth the investment. I do okay carrying her on short trips, she likes her stroller on longer trips, ie: mall/etc, and she likes the shopping cart at the grocery. My hubs has a pretty pricey tactical military style carrier https://www.missioncritical.cc/
but it is way too big for me even completely tightened. Unfortunately he is deployed so it isn't getting much use.
@kmurdock925 Love her in the cart!! How cute! We have a cover...but not that supportive. I'm not sure if L is ready for it yet. I also don't usually bring the Ergo for errands. If they're short and I can master it one handed, I carry her. I can't wait for her to be ready for the cart because that sure will help!! She likes to look around and be upright. If it's more of a mall type thing....she's in the stroller, in her car seat.
@kmurdock925 The TOMS stay on surprisingly well. I think the Velcro around the ankle really helps. She's only been able to get one off twice, and that was with a lot of effort. Another plus... they're super warm which we need in our drafty old house in freezing Nebraska. These are the ones I got her Saw this on @Zappos!
I'm telling my pregnant friends that baby socks are a waste of money!!!!! They get kicked off or lost so easily!
For those of you in big cities, there are babywearing library groups you could join. I live in st.louis and pay $30 for the annual baby wearing group membership. Each month you can try on and check out carriers. I've checked out a lillebaby for the past 3 months.
austinjl that is awesome! I lived in STL for a few years when I was a flight attendant. I can't wait for LO to be old enough to take her to the zoo there (LOVE the penguin exhibit) and to city museum!! So many fond memories in the lou.
@shanparadise very good to know! I love Toms myself so we can be twins
We have the cheapie infantino carrier as well, but I rarely use it, DH loves it though. I LOVE my wildbird sling for errands and housework. Mine was a Christmas gift, but they're around $70.
Yes to the socks! I don't even bother putting them on her because she rips them off right away.
@DachshundMomma I didn't know you lived in WI! May I ask which part? We're in the Madison area.
@kmurdock925 my husband has the mission critical carrier! He doesn't use it that much and I was hoping to see if it would fit me . I also have the infantino, and I agree that it is great for short walks, but my back kills me if we do anything long, I feel like all the weight is held on my back instead of my hips.
Haven't been on here lately...you know...working mom life We are in the brutal cold of WI as well and I miss carrying LO in the carrier in the store. I feel like I shop so much quicker! We have a shopping cart thing I might have to start trying if it warms back up a little.
I have a good friend outside Madison, WI! I love WI! I used to go to WI annually for years in my late teens/early 20's. She was originally from Eau Claire. She's actually been my best real life source for baby questions. She now has an 18 month old. Small world!!
adough27 It is a great carrier!! Does your hubs like it when he does use it?? He only got to use it once before he deployed. I was bummed it was too big for me but I have a small frame and it swam :-\
It is very interesting that everyone says the infantino has caused back pain. I just attributed it to her getting bigger!
@schaze I really want to, actually! My husband has never been to WI and I think he'd really like it. Especially the Madison area. It's been on the discussion table!!
@kmurdock925 he likes it, especially after he adjusted it so the bottom of it did not hit the center of his back. He just started using it again because in the beginning C looked so tiny in it, even though it said it the minimum weight requirement was 8 lbs. He wants the diaper backpack that goes with it, but I am holding out on that purchase until he proves in the warmer months that he will use it more (he is so excited to walk to the park with her). I have a small frame too, I thought that would be a solution to the infantino, oh well at least she loves the stroller.
Late to the convo about socks, but zutano booties for the win! I've given up on socks and found them at consignment for $8. Although I love them so much I will be purchasing the next size up at retail if I have to!
@kmurdock925 Love her in the cart!! How cute! We have a cover...but not that supportive. I'm not sure if L is ready for it yet. I also don't usually bring the Ergo for errands. Hi Ladies! This made me think of a question to ask ya'll. I have been thinking of possibly starting to put LO in her stroller and not use the car seat when running errands or going to theme parks. (We have a travel system) She loves looking around at her surroundings and wants to be in a more upright position. I have read online if it reclines its ok and mine fully reclines into a lay down position. She was 15lbs at her check up in November I would imagine she weighs about 17lbs now and she can hold her head up but still needs assistance sitting up she cant sit on her own without being supported. She's 5 months and 3 days. Are any of you momma's using the stroller now or are you still using the car seat as well.
@Lynna813 I've been using the actual stroller for several months now. Once she was able to sit in it and not flop over to the side I went with it. She was NEVER happy or comfortable in her infant seat. Once I made the switch she was much happier. I do have the seat in the stroller so it faces me still...not looking out.
kmurdock925 Good to know! It will be a whole new world for her when we put her in the actual stroller and she can see everything around her! I don't think mine has the option to face me when she is in her stroller I will have to check! This will make trips so much easier! She is getting heavy and carrying her in her car seat is tough when I am alone. I wear her in my Tula if I go to the store. If DH is with me he will take the car seat and attach it to the stroller. I am really excited to try it out now. It's the little things

@lynna813 we have been using the stroller in the sitting/semi reclined position for several months now. This past month, I have even put C in the umbrella stroller (it also reclines to a laying down position), and that has made life so much easier! She loves looking out and its also super light so lifting it up the steps to and from my condo is so much easier then lifting the travel system.
That's awesome!! I am going to try the stroller tonight and see how she does. I think she will love it. She loves sitting in her high chair and in her activity center. Thank you!
Maybe I better order an umbrella stroller. We don't have one. I think hat would be a good option for my mom when she's with her during the day. The stroller we have is a travel system and it has those bulky tires. It's prettt heavy to lug in and out!!
I've been using it since she was 3 months old and she seems to enjoy it more than her carseat system. She loves it during Stroller Strides where she can see the nature around us.
We use our stroller, too. As soon as he had good head control and wasn't so physically floppy. He likes looking around and being in the middle of the action

It might be bobas but either way it's a good deal.

It's a balmy -20 out today. Yay. Winter.
I don't have any problems with these Carter socks or the Trumpette brand. All others fall off.
I love my Boba baby carrier. It is similar to the Ergo. I wore DD1 in it until she was 2. It was great for vacations and hiking.
