Anybody taking red raspberry leaf now that we've hit second trimester? Anyone with experience with it?
I won't start RRL, EPO, or dates until 3rd tri.
What's it for? #ftm
Raspberry Red Leaf Tea is said to help induce labor, as well as shorten labor and stimulate breast milk production.
Evening Primrose Oil is for cervical ripening.
Dates are said to ripen the cervix, induce labor, as well as shorten it.
I went into my induction with DD1/2 not dilated at all, however, with DD3, I used all of the above and I went in 3cm dilated. I can't be certain it was a result of the above or because it was my third, but I'm going with it. I will say, I have never gone into labor on my own.
ETA: my labor was 3 hours, so I will be doing it again also.
@mechanicwife My OB said she to wait on pure RRL tea until the third trimester, but said to go ahead with the pregnancy/ mama to be teas that have RRL as an ingredient because the doses are much less.
@keniialise It went great! Less than half of our guests came due to the "inclement weather" but we still had about 14 people so it was a nice gathering! Most people guessed wrong, so it was so fun hearing all the shock and excitement! My family is so excited and my mom immediately demanded access to our registries so she could buy us something. So now we have our bassinet on the way from BRU! Today has been a great day!

I took this with my second but didn't start until after third trimester. Also evening primrose oil.
I thouht it it could cause contractions so you were supposed to wait? I could be totally wrong there.
It can cause contractions if started abruptly, at too high of a concentration, is my understanding. Did you think they helped? I plan to do evening primrose oil as well, once it's safe for cervical changes to be happening.
I do feel like it helped! I also had 3 membrane sweeps the last weekish too so I'm not sure what really made me dilate but at each apt that last week I was more dilated and effaced. I went in to be induced and walked in at 6cm. Labor was pretty quick and eAsy.
I only took EPO orally but some people insert it as well .
I used RRL tea and evening primrose oil last time starting in the 3rd trimester. I honestly cant say if it sped things up or not bc my midwife doesnt do checks until you are in full blown labor. That being said he was born a week early and I had a less than 7 hr labor. I will do it again.
