Re: Randoms 1/2-1/9

  • If there is a symptoms thread this week and I missed it I'd like to say I'm sorry for posting this here instead.

Is anyone else getting a lot of foot/leg cramps at night? I had random leg cramps wake me about 5 times last night. I do get them from time to time when I'm not pregnant but not very often and generally just once in a night then not again for months. I'm assuming the increased frequency where it's practically every night multiple times a night has something to do with being pregnant. If anyone else is having this problem: have you found something that helped?
I make chamomile tea mixed with Calm powder on a nightly basis. The Calm powder is magnesium based and helps with my pregnancy insomnia and my leg cramps

  • @awoodruff27 such great news!!  sorry about the doctor not being so great though...

@NamelessAria I had TERRIBLE cramps in my calves during my last pregnancy and they are getting tight again... it is really painful.  Magnesium, magnesium, magnesium!!!!  I took a product called CALM that you just mix in water... flavors aren't bad and it was recommended by my CNM.  You start off with a little and build up to the max of 2 rounded tsp per day.  I always suggest running the addition of any supplements by your doctor/midwife, but this helped so much!

@Wearmi1 @FSUNole31 @Stankonia2014 @silliegirlie143 @michaela0704  Thank you ladies. I'm sorry you've all dealing with the same thing or dealt with it previously. It sucks. It looks like a couple of you mentioned magnesium in some form or another so I'll definitely try that out. I appreciate the help. <3

Of course my daughter has been back to school for a week now and is so congested she can't sleep well because she can't breathe with her pacifier in.  I am
so over germs.  Also, I guess my FFTC is my almost three year old still has a pacifier.  Cue embarrassed emoji here.

  • ... and now he so graciously rang the doorbell again at 10:15pm to return our blender...

So one clue is he doesn't have children!
  • @michaela0704 are you in NYC? I'm so intrigued by the potential actor

  • @michaela0704 I am intrigued! Can't wait to see if it's someone we know! I can't think of anyone with an Aussie accent other than Hugh Jackman (I think?) but I would think you would recognize him. Also, I cannot imagine ringing a neighbor's doorbell, whom I didn't even know, and asking to borrow their blender, let alone at 9:45p!

Is anyone else highly irritated that when you click "reply" button that the person's name for whom you are responding does not transfer down to the reply box? What is the point of that button, really?

Ugh yes, if I remember correctly it used to work for me in my old BMB... since we are the topic of TB, do you ladies get notifications when people tag you? I'm on a mobile and I get nothing unless it's to my inbox. If people mention me by name I only know because I have gone back to check the thread. I hate the little yellow unread notification so I open all threads that have one (I'm crazy) :)
  • @keniialise I am strictly mobile and only get notifications if I happen to be on when someone tags me. It's such a pain which is why when my small group of April 15 moms broke off into fb I pretty much stopped coming to TB. UNLESS we got the batcall for good drama.
  • @michaela0704, that seems like a celebrity thing to do. Borrow someone's blender at 10:00 pm to make pumpkin soup.

    maybe a Hemsworth brother?
  • @JAGinMI I could be wrong on accent but it seemed more Aussie than British... I just feel like he has to have done something somewhat remotely in the media (hopefully not bad) as the first thing my husband said after the guy left was 'he looks so familiar, doesn't he?!?' and my husband isn't a big one for celebrities or athletes, so it's not like he was being too crazy about it.

I could be all wrong though and he could just look like a famous person... there is one car with VA plates but it could be a rental.

He did introduce himself and I thought it was something with an R, but I was in shock from the late doorbell and half-listening to see if my twins woke up.  My husband couldn't remember either because he said he was a little too focused on thinking he recognized him... he had a little man bun though and short beard/heavy stubble... brunette, young, like mid-20s and tall, like 6'1"-ish.
  • @michaela0704 Chris Hemsworth is about 6'3", and usually has a man bun....

  • I am a jerk.  My daughter slept horribly last night and was up for the day at 4.  I just went off on my best class for things I usually let go and they all just looked at me dumbfounded.  I need to go home now.

  • @FSUNole31 Solidarity on the pacifier front. My 2.5 yr old is addicted. We've been trying so hard to not let him have it except for bedtime but the struggle is real.
  • @huskermom14 my son was 3 months shy of his 4th birthday before we got him to give his up and his sleep still hasn't fully recovered.  I am so not looking forward to doing it again.

  • My husband has the man flu and my daughter woke up at 4:30am. Also, the weather is bad so we can't get out of the house. I'm going nuts.

  • A house came on the market yesterday that we loved.  We offered asking price and the sellers got scared because they weren't expecting an offer so quickly, so they took it off the market.  I'm so bummed!  I'm really hoping to be in a new place before the baby arrives and there are very few options in the area we live.

  • Woo hoo!  I just got the thumbs up to take mucinex d for my cold!   I've been suffering for a week now because the navy doctors told me I couldn't take anything!  Thankfully all my prenatal care is through civilian providers!!!
  • I'm with @Stankonia2014 thinking @michaela0704 could be a Hemsworth brother.  Now off to google if any of the Hemsworth boys have an affinity for pumpkin soup...

Whaaaa.... as someone trying to sell their house in a couple of months, an immediate offers sounds dreamy!  I can't stand people who put something up for sale and then freak out when they get an offer.  If you're not ready to part with it... don't put it up for sale!!!

That scenario is exactly the one I am hoping for when DH and I go to list our house (hopefully) this month....except for the part where we take it off the market. We just want an immediate offer so we don't have to worry about the mortgage by the time baby gets here. I'm so sorry those "sellers" pulled out after your offer! I would be super bummed as well.

Also, I am now dying to know who this mysterious renter is now @michaela0704. I immediately had to look up where Jason Mamoa (also known as Aquaman) is from as soon as you said the renter had a man bun! :D You know, just to rule out possibilities....

what a couple of snowflakes. You don't toy with people's feelings like that!!! Just trust the universe that you're dodging a huge problem.
  • @itsfine I am waffling too!  My husband is standing strong though.  We have our anatomy scan Thursday, I am hoping I can withstand the urge to peek!

  • This might be more of a random complaint, but I know you girls will understand. One of my students was standing there coughing in my freaking face last night. Now I have a sore throat. Damn. She came in this morning, told me she was up coughing all night and did it again! I tried to explain politely that she needs to cover her cough. I was so annoyed that I wrote to her mother about ettiquette when you are sick. We'll see how long until that complaint blows up in my face. Seriously people, show some courtesy.

@Sirius37 I looked him up too... I wish!!  Jason Momoa is too tall... this guy definitely isn't 6'4".

@Stankonia2014 @berg @Knottie42089123 I probably would've done something ridiculous had it been a Hemsworth, haha!  I would say this guy looked most like Liam from a build/coloring/face shape but wasn't him...

I'm going to feel bad if he turns out to be nobody... but to be honest, I may just ask him if we have another encounter while he is renting.  I am still googling like crazy to find what is filming and then using imdb to look up the cast members.  No luck as of yet.

I will let you know if we cave. My husband was being the strong one. He has since changed his mind. We shall see!
  • The latest Avengers movie is currently filming.....which would be Liam, but you said it wasn't him...

  • @itsfine, @FSUNole31 I have been steadfast team green, and DH desperately wants to find out.  I'm starting to waver, even though I love not knowing (mostly because it drives everyone else crazy, and it keeps me from going spend happy - although there will likely be no baby shower for this one so we do need to buy SOME clothing).  But we have an agreement - if we find out, we are using cloth diapers (which I want and DH doesn't, so we both get something we wanted in the deal).  And I would want to know what it is so I can know which diapers to buy if I see gender specific ones on sale.
