What do you ladies think of Lewis? It's kind of growing on me.
Lewis is our middle name pick, it's not my favourite name, but it was H's grandfather so we'd like to use his name. It took a bit to grow on me, but I had "Lewis Henry" on our list

@Amybee5 I love all of your choices, especially Everly Rose. My DD1 is named Emilia Michaelle but I often call her Emilia Rose (we spend a lot of time gardening) or Rosie Posie. I chose the Emilia spelling because it allows more nn options: Emmy, Mia, Leah, Milly, and I call her Emzi. Clearly I like nn, which makes it hard for our boy name choice for this baby: Isaac William. Any ideas of good nns for Isaac?
ETA in your family's case, relatives might have trouble keeping track of which spelling each has but it doesn't seem like a big deal since you don't see them often
We are still struggling for a name for our little girl. I recently came across Emilia and love it but my cousin has a daughter named Amelia. I have a big family and they live in another province and we don't see them often at all (once a year max). would this deter you from using the name?
Also, do you think it will be a constant issue with the confusion between Emilia and Amelia? Since the only difference is the slight difference in the. beginning sound.
top three names right now are: 1. Emilia Rose 2. Adalyn Rose 3. Everly Rose
I LOVE Emilia, but I personally would have a hard time with a family member having a child with a name that is so close. I also do think it will frequently be spelled Amelia, but if that doesn't bother you, I say go for it! The other two names are beautiful, too. We considered Adalyn but eventually nixed because we have a bunch of friends with Madelyn's and worried that it would bother us in use frequently, but I still love it! And Everly is pretty and unique!
DH and I have pretty much settled on Henry for this little guy, though we haven't told anyone. THEN, the other day, MIL suggested Henry and went on and on about how it was her favorite name. I'm now reconsidering (as is DH), because we both know she'll take credit for naming him and I don't think I can handle years of hearing about that.
I'm not proud of how petty this makes me.

Naming a baby is already difficult and then to throw ILs into the mix just makes it worse! H and I have been discussing different boy names and having finalized anything, especially since I'm not 100% on the name he likes, Tyberius. I think it could be the middle name, but I just can't get it in my head for a first name. I like Oliver (so does H) and go back and forth because it is a fairly popular name, but at the same time I just don't care because for some reason it just seems right. Maybe he'll let me do Oliver Tyberius...
On top of us trying to figure it out MIL is driving me nuts because she is just assuming we will go with Tyberius since H likes it. So she will call and ask "How is Tyberius doing?" and I respond with "Who?" haha which doesn't make her happy! Now she has told H and a very good friend of ours that I need to let her son choose his son's name! WTH?! Umm I'm sorry but it takes 2 to make a baby and in my opinion 2 to name it! At least they both have stood up for me and said we're still figuring it out. It's just so annoying!! If she calls me about it I don't know if I'll be able to control myself....
Sorry just needed to get that out! What do you all think of Tyberius in general and Oliver Tyberius together?
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
@Amybee5 I like all of those names but I really like Everly, that was one of my choices but H didn't go for it.
@BabyMC517 I like both but I think Oliver Tyberius is really cute. Are you doing a nn like Ollie? I am also sometimes spiteful and like kayemjay2 wouldn't use something because I wouldn't want MIL taking credit for it or thinking she got her way.
@BabyMC517, I love Oliver and think Tyberius is a cute middle name! I wouldn't personally use it as a first name, but I can't really tell you why. I do watch GoT (and love it)--maybe that's why I can't see it as a first name on a baby? That said, the name we've picked for this little girl (Estelle) reminded us of the character on Friends for the first few weeks that we were tossing it around--it was basically a running joke. But now that we've started using it for the babe, it just seems like "her" name and the show correlation is totally gone from our minds.
@kayemjay2 , I'm RIGHT there with you. Every name that my mom or MIL suggested just got nixed immediately because I didn't want that association, even though it does seem a little petty. We decided to decide on the name together and just present it to them as the name--no negotiations and no opinions welcomed. We literally told everyone in our immediate family "Her name will be Estelle, if you love it that's great! If you don't, you've got a few months to stew over it and either grow to love it or not, your choice!".
@chickyclg - Harrison was probably a TOP 3 for me, but hubs said it was a 'last name.' (Insert eyeroll) DH is Isaac Harrison as a compromise.
@SWE2 - I love Holly so much! I was just thinking yesterday (as I loaded the dishwasher!) that I wanted to find a way to throw it out there that I think it is very underrated and that I would love to hear it more often. Great pick!
@kayemjay2 - NO JUDGEMENT on jumping ship bc she likes it. I would absolutely do the same thing.
@swe2 and @kipperoo thanks for the feedback! I've definitely been struggling with Tyberius as a first, and hopefully I'll win for middle I LOVE the nn Ollie! I think that's partly why I love the name!

What do you guys think of Griffin Davis (nn Finn)? I'm in love with it. And think it sounds good with DS's name Logan. It is still growing on DH purely due to the fact that he knew a Griffin in college who was a pothead drug dealer and who went by Griff. I just keep referring to baby as Griffin hoping it'll just stick wit DH. We both 100% agree with Davis as the middle name.
@momma2char I love Evangeline! It's always been a favorite of mine. I wanted to name my baby girl that too since before I even got pregnant it was on the list for girl names unfortunately my MIL ruined it by telling me she was going to call my daughter vagina if I named her that (I honestly felt like bitch slapping the rudeness out of her) I ignores her later on suggestions since ahah (we all know the majority of MILS want the grandchild to have their name
I want to make sure again by ultrasound but we're having a girl and I chose to name her Cora. I love the name coralline but the meaning is just coral you know? I'm big on name meanings and cora either ment maiden or an alternative nick name for persophone. Which I like the name too. Some made suggestions on changing the c to k to make it unique but that would just make it seem like the avatar Korra name. I really want coralline tho what you guys think?
Middles name was suggested by SIL (which I didn't want to get ANY suggestions cause I'm mean like that) but since I loved the meaning of the name I took it hehe the middle name is Nila which means blue (I LOVE blue and green ♡♡ )

Wow. That's a pretty awful thing for her to to say! The name Evangeline has NEVER evoked vagina to me. Ever. She's bat crap crazy.
My husband and I are completely overwhelmed with naming her... Middle name we are leaning toward Michelle. Wehave always loved Addison, since the World Series there are a million babies named Addison it seems... we also like Alyssa Adalyn Lillian

If I were you, I'd still go with Evangeline- I would bet your MIL will not actually call her grand daughter "vagina" (which is ridiculous, it's a beautiful name). Also, I love the nickname Evie (either Eh-vee or Eee-vee)
I love Cora as well, and think it's a solid choice as a full name, not just a nickname. I'm not a fan of Cora spelled any other way. If you go with a longer name, I'd spell it Coraline (one L). I don't understand how Cora is a nickname for Persephone? That doesn't make sense to me.
Fur daughter: 02/2011 Human sons: 11/2015 & 05/2017 *formerly kayemjay*
@Kipperoo I prefer a middle name that is in the family, but am highly annoyed by the limiting nature of that philosophy and with ancestors for picking lame names. FWIW Estelle Ruby is an absolutely beautiful name and the history of the middle name is sweet.
@KMD1106 We are about 98% sure we will be using the name Louis. Love the spelling Lewis too. Makes me think of Lewis Carroll.
@kayemjay2 I am equally as petty and wouldn't want a name that my MIL felt like she chose. But Henry is a pretty awesome name, so that is hard.
@newmamaro That is an adorable name! Love the nn too!
@lulubemadness You have got to be kidding me!?! What a flipping jump from a beautiful name. Does she pronounce it vangina or something?! What grandma would call her sweet granddaughter vagina?! That would give me so much motivation to use the name.
H and I have talked about having the middle name be one of our parents, but we aren't dead set on it because of how it sounds together. I did bring up the idea of changing the name slightly (Julie to Jules) but we can't think of any other than Jules. Do you guys have any ideas? Names are Julie and Charles

@absbubbs: (mixed gender names) Jules, Julia, Julian, Juliet, JuJu... Charlie, Charl, Carlos, and Carl (and Chaz, Chet, Chuck derivatives), and there's Charley & Charlize. Good luck!
I am staring to second guess our boy name if this LO is a boy we are going to name him Charles after MH's grandpa. I am okay with calling him Charlie, which we will, but I really don't love the name Charles. Am I just overthinking this as he will likely go by Charlie the majority of the time?
MH likes more traditional names, I like "trendier" not super popular names. And we both like using family names for our kids. I think I'm just ranting.
@achays11: would you consider naming him Charlie, full name, no nickname? If that's what you intend to call him anyway, then why not skip the formality of Charles if it's not a name you love?
@achays11, I feel like if you have a solid nn that you like/love, the full name doesn't matter quite as much. Yeah, as an adult they may choose to use their full name, but everyone I know chooses to use what they grew up with. Like I use my nn and my H uses his full name because that is how we grew up and now prefer. That being said, my father only went by "Chuck" and not Charles. BTW...Charlie is such an adorable name.
okay after weeks and weeks we finally picked. We are going with Zoey and Amelia (not quite the same vibe as Molly and Ophelia). Husband loves them and I'm happy with them, but they just aren't the same. I'm a little sad I won't ever have a little penelope or petunia, but I also don't want to choose a name my DH doesn't like. Do you think Zoey, Amelia, and Violet go well together? They'll be Zoey Claire, Amelia June, and Violet Paige.Do you think it's silly to do Zooey? (I love Zooey Deschanel and think it's neat, but DH doesn't like it)
@Jkp7749 , I like Zoey and Amelia with Violet! I think it's actually pretty similar in sound at least to Molly and Ophelia. I would avoid Zooey personally (although I love Zooey Deschanel, too!) because the I just don't like offbeat spellings. But that's a total personal preference. Congrats on picking the names, though!
Thanks ladies! I think you're right in the fact that I have a nn that I like. We'll probably stick with it because I know how special it would be for MH. And his grandpa never went by Charles.
@Jkp7749 I love Zoey and Amelia! They are so cute and work well with Violet. I would steer away from Zooey, only because I think it would often be misspelled.
Love Zoey (prefer that spelling) with your sibset. @jkp7749 @achays11 I also like nn Charlie but I'm in the camp that prefers the option of full name Charles should he ever want or need it. That said, I have known several adults that go by Charlie and as far as NNs go, I don't think it's overly juvenile. Go for it!
@achays11, I like Charles nn Charlie! My SIL just named her son that. I think it's a good idea to leave him with a possibility of a more formal name as an adult. Which reminds me of a funny story...when I told DH that SIL was naming the baby Charles and calling him Charlie, he said "don't you mean she's naming him Charlie and calling him Charles?". We went the rounds for nearly 15 minutes--he was CONVINCED that Charles was the nickname for Charlie, not the other way around. He tried to call it a "matter of opinion", which it just isn't. At all.
@momma2char I love Evangeline! It's always been a favorite of mine. I know!! That's what I said it really really pissed me off and she's so much of a off the rocker woman she would call her that that's the way she was pronounced it idk why...she's just mad I won't name her after her -_-

I was really going to! At that time I didn't care and I was going to name her it anyway cause I love the name still it's beautiful. But when I found cora it just kind of came to me and stuck more than the other name
I want to make sure again by ultrasound but we're having a girl and I chose to name her Cora. I love the name coralline but the meaning is just coral you know? No hon... This woman really would call her own granddaughter that. And turn around expecting to still be a best grandma ever :l she actually called my son Hitler a few times cause she said he had a Lil patch of hair only (also because I wouldn't cut it his baby hair) telling you she's a crazy woman. That's what I was thinking I didn't know how it was a nickname for persophone but aparantly Kore- in Greek I guess mythology was a nickname for her and cora is the same just not with a K I guess?
@Jkp7749 - Zoey and Amelia are beautiful! Zoey was on our short list.
@achays11 - I'd go with Charles. We have a William, but we only ever call him Will. I think the formal name gives him options as an adult. @kipperoo: "A matter of opinion"? Lol.
