  • @kns1988 I'm over on the other side of PA and it's a sheet of ice everywhere. Totally messing with my plans to get some gift shopping done today. Here's to hoping the sunshine helps!

  • @starphish18 our gifts we give are always joint! I don't know anyone who doesn't do it that way!
@Jen_Shoes I'm sorry your hubby is being insensitive. Glad you weren't badly hurt.

  • @Jen_Shoes Ugh, I hope you're feeling ok. Guys can seriously be so clueless sometimes. My husband made an insensitive comment to me the other day, too. Mine was not nearly as painful as falling down the stairs, and I was still pissed. A tiny, 20 lb dog jumped up on me at work and bopped me right in the uterus. It didn't hurt badly, but it surprised me and was definitely a sensitive spot. I mentioned it to my husband and he looked almost angry and said, "well yeah, you need to be careful". Duh! We already had a long conversation about me minimizing dog interactions at work (a DOG daycare, mind you), and I've already moved myself off the playfloors. We had a mild dog fight earlier this week and I didn't jump in, I just started filling up the empty water dish to throw on them in case the other two girls couldn't get them apart quickly (which they did). I felt useless. Don't you think I know I need to be cautious now? Doesn't stop a random dog from jumping up on you in the lobby.

I always notice your screenname because I lived in Pittsburgh for 8 years. I just moved back to central PA a year ago. From what my friends have been posting, it looks like you guys have already gotten the ice and snow a few times already. I hope you get out today!

  • Thanks for the support ladies. The ironic part is that he does my automotive work and I've been asking him for WEEKS to change my all season (bald) tires to my snow tires because we live in upstate NY and it's snowed maybe 8 times already (including today), and he gives me attitude about how I'm "nagging" him to do it! Uh I'm pretty sure I can do more damage to the baby by crashing my car than slipping on the stairs.

@starphish18 My husband is notorious for not giving gifts so I give gifts to his mother, and sisters from me and they just give me stuff (well his mother obviously gets him stuff). But for less close people (his grandmother, my sister and BIL) and friends and others the present is always from the both of us.
  • @Starphish18, our gifts are combined from the whole family expect for the one official gift exchange we do.

@Jen_Shoes I hope you are ok. I would have been so upset with that response as well and probably would have brought up the fact that outdoors had not been salted either. I'm clumsy too and my entire family laughs about how I am always falling. I asked DH to prep the walkway to the driveway because it was so slick. He didn't and then said I only thought it was slick because I'm always falling. He changed his mind pretty quickly when he almost slipped himself.

  • @kns1988 ohh I am so jealous of you being stuck in Philly. We lived there before settling back in the Midwest and man do I want to go back for the food! Especially now being pregnant all my old go-to's sound like heaven. Being stuck there is inconvenient but I hope you are enjoying stuffing your face with all the amazing food. I especially loved the ordering online and having people come knock on my door with food.
  • @Jen_Shoes I'm sorry about your H's comments. I hope you're not to sore today.

@starphish18 our gifts are all combined. However MH, usually at the last minute, decides that he is going to buy a gift for DD from him.

STM question, is it normal to feel a little disconnected from secondary pregnancies?  I feel like I am having a really hard time getting attached.  I keep wondering if this is something that comes after the heartbeat, after 1st tri, after movement is felt, and so on.  I keep having to remind myself that I am pregnant this time.
YES. I have it even worse this 3rd time! Even though my symptoms have been STRONG this time, I keep denying that I'm actually pregnant. So I also sort of agree with the people who say it has been flying by this time, even though as I said it has been pretty unpleasant.

But don't worry, you still get connected to the kid when s/he comes out or shortly thereafter! (I actually didn't immediately "bond" with either of my kids -- I didn't know them yet -- but it wasn't any slower of a process for #2 than #1.)

We used to live in Philly and then moved to the midwest, but just moved back 1.5 years ago! I agree that Philly is the BEST food place! The restaurants are amazing. And because of the awful liquor laws, a lot of them are byo, which saves $$ as well. :-)

For team green moms in prior pregnancies, any regrets on waiting? I'm seriously contemplating waiting for birth to learn the sex. I can't decide if the anticipation will be a killer or super exciting.
I was team green twice and now a third time. There were no regrets! Do it! :-)

Can I just say my husband has been a complete dick lately?
So I'm super clumsy, always have been.
I just fell down the stairs, well more so slipped. I basically skidded down the last half on my ass.
Hurt my butt a little and my shoulder as I instinctively put my arm out to help myself, but I've been far worse before.
He hears this and his immediate response is WTF! Doesn't ask are you ok, just says I'm so effing pissed at you right now.
I get that I'm carrying his baby and all but WTF! My sock slipped on the stair, I wasn't rushing, I wasn't being careless, I'm CLUMSY. I slipped on the ice outside multiple times just these past few days, I've asked him to put salt out... He hasn't yet. So don't be pissed at me when I slip and fall outside because I've asked you to put salt down.
Ugh he really pisses me off.
    Sorry, end rant.
YIKES! I fell down the inside stairs in the same manner -- skidded down on my butt, and also hurt my butt and hand, which I had used to brace myself. It wasn't even that many stairs before I stopped (I didn't go all of the way down) but DH and DS saw me. They both were all "ARE YOU OK?" If anything it was a little overprotective (DH wondered if I should mention it at my appointment the next day and I knew I did not need to because it was so minor) but there wasn't even a hint of "you know you should be more careful..." from him. I'm so sorry your DH was such a dick about it.

  • I have had cramping pains anytime I move since yesterday (we spent the whole day at the children's hospital for DS's appointment).  I'm not really sure if I should be concerned because I don't feel it if I take a bath, but good lord it hurts when I'm not.

Oh, and I am totally down for a bat signal thread!

  • @Jen_Shoes sorry your DH is such a dick, I hope it's a one time occurrence for him to act that way and that he makes it up to you somehow. I hope you're feeling okay physically now.

A new random:  I have started getting Braxton Hicks. WTAF.

I ended up going to the ER last night and the pains ended up being nothing, but they were super dramatic about making sure I didn't have a UTI because they can make you super sick when pregnant. Maybe call your doctor on Monday?

@bacorrea I doubt it's a UTI but only because I am on a daily antibiotic to prevent them, but I am thinking it's definitely worth a call on Monday.

  • ETA to add that I love the randoms thread. This is my 3rd BMB and it's so nice to have a place to post whatever you want. It completely cuts out the AW dear diary new threads that piss everyone off.
Yes! It does cut out most of the AW posts. There's a few repeat offenders (is this totally normal symptom normal in my 2nd+ pregnancy?!?). I'm not pointing any fingers...yet.

  • @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot point away... Sometimes I don't pick up the obvious lol
  • I see one repeat offender as you like to call them. I hadn't even noticed until you said something @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot. Now I'm going to be super aware from here on

  • Now I feel the need to reread everything to find the repeat offender.

  • Holy cows...finally caught up on this thread. So much excitement over the drama threads (but they can stay where they are!). My favorite is probably July 17...they have a whole weed thread somewhere in there. And some of the girls just flat out call others out that just make your jaw drop. Hello boredom buster!
  • @clebl24 I'm experiencing the same thing!  And based on @WombThereItIs 's suggestion I googled SI joint pain and it seems to match that description.  Let me know what your doctor says.  I have an appointment Friday and was planning on asking about that too.

    @RainyDays86
Doc said it was SI joint, which is a common pregnancy symptom rearing it's head in second trimester.  She said to sleep on side with a pillow between my knees.  This does seem to alleviate some of the irritation. She said if it gets worse, then she'll refer me to PT.
  • The weed thread is fantastic old-school bump drama.

  • My random is sucky.I found us a cute little rental duplex to hold us over until we buy a house. We were having the worst time trying to get internet, cable, and phone to the new place. Turns out that the place is an illegal dwelling, which is why getting services is next to impossible! Comcast can get us services at some point, but there has been no date given. My job won't start until January, so I'm just sitting around this place without any way to communicate with the outside world. It's been a rough month. I've missed the board!
