@clebl24 I'm experiencing the same thing! And based on @WombThereItIs 's suggestion I googled SI joint pain and it seems to match that description. Let me know what your doctor says. I have an appointment Friday and was planning on asking about that too.
Add me to the list of those feeling a bit disconnected from this pregnancy vs. what I remember with my son. I don't know what it is...I really can't put my finger on it. I'm going through the motions of nursery planning, registering, organizing, naming, but it seems...not real? And when I actually stop to think about it and allow the gravity of what's about to happen to sink it, I get a little scared. I was trying to explain it to friends with 1 kid this weekend and it's almost a sense of dread for what's to come. Of COURSE, this is what we wanted, planned for, etc...but when I think about child birth, sleepless nights, breast feeding, the first year, traveling with 2 kids (pretty much anywhere)...I get very agitated. DH and I have basically decided to call the next 3 years a wash and hope that happier days are ahead...mostly kidding, but I just can't wait to be out of the baby/toddler stage.
And, in other news, I had some extreme itching last week which freaked me out because of my history of cholestasis (even though this is WAYYY earlier). So, I've had to go in a couple of times for blood work (everything seems ok so far, but who knows). And I have 2 other doctor's appointments this week...all of the shuttling back and forth from work is so inconvenient. But I am thankful for modern medicine.
I think second pregnancy disconnection is totally the norm. By this point in my pregnancy with DD, we had a crib, some clothes, and some other stuff. That pregnancy was on my mind all the time. Now I forget I'm pregnant unless I'm experiencing a symptom worthy of complaining about. The only thing I've bought for this kid is a teether at a craft show.
This pregnancy is taking forever. I feel and look further along than I am, and then I remember that I'm only 16 weeks. A whole month away from the halfway point!
@mamatowildones - We were having the same issue with our son at that point, and cutting his bedtime milk in half really helped. You could also try a different type of overnight diaper. We tried a couple before landing on Huggies Overnights.
Another STM question- I'm 18 weeks and I feel like all the movement is so much harder than before. Like, instead of the cute little flutters I felt with my first, I am getting full on kicks enough to startle me. Is this happening to anyone else? Maybe she's going to be a ninja?
@ShadeofGreen816 - I developed some serious hand tendinitis after giving birth the first time. Ever since then I always have hand/wrist issues when pregnant or lactating. They say it's the loosening of ligaments that cause it. This time I haven't had any serious issues yet but every morning I wake up with stiff hands. It's one if those pregnancy things that we could do without.

Although I've felt a little more disconnected this time around, I've made myself do stuff like I've bought a box of diapers every time I get paid. I made sure I went out on black Friday and got good deals on some sleepers and nursery bedding we had wanted. Doing that, and making some purchases have actually made me feel a little better about it.
Then our scan last week made a big difference, I think just hearing that baby is looking healthy had so much more bearing on the way we felt then we thought.
Thank you ladies!! I am still giving him a bottle at bedtime so I'll try giving it to him earlier and half the amount. He just loves his baba so much! I have lots of sheets and pjs at hand!
So much to catch up on! I have nothing to add regarding RLP or bed wetting as I am a FTM.
I wouldn't say I'm disconnected to this pregnancy but it still doesn't feel real. I'm excited for the anatomy scan to make sure the baby is growing and is healthy, and but I am happy about each week and milestone.
Took a "mental health day" today as I'm super stressed with the holidays and getting orders done, and my 9-5 is super hectic right now. I got out 27 orders and now I'm down to 10, vacuumed the house (which I hadn't done in weeks) and went to go put on the lights on the outside of the house. I then proceeded to fall off the ladder onto my ass. I'm fine just my back is even more sore than it was before. Then my dog proceeded to elbow/knee/head butt me in the back of the head. I guess I shouldn't take days off.
@nda_roxybabe, I had that weird stretching sensation behind my belly button last night. I assume it was my uterus growing/RLP. I also have some stabby RLP pains in my pelvic area sometimes, but I've been getting them less frequently lately. I'm sure it'll ramp up again.
@Jkp7749, *TMI* you probably have a hemorrhoid, which can be exacerbated by constipation. They suck, but they're usually nothing to worry about *end TMI*
Question: I'm 99% sure I know the answer to this, but is it normal for the heart rate to drop from around 168 at 14.5 weeks to 140 at 16 weeks? Different times of day, different dopplers, but I counted bpm. I've read that 2nd trimester is the time that it drops, but I still want to hear that it's normal.

@kns1988 I never had a hearbeat measurement around 14 weeks, but at 16 weeks the baby was 141! I do know it dropped from the 170 it was at 10 weeks though. Sounds like your in the correct range!

@Jen_Shoes I'm with you on it not feeling real. Have our first ultrasound in 3 weeks and I don't think I can really let myself get too excited until I'm able to see that everything's good.
Unrelated, but anyone else feeling fleeting pains below the rib cage? Feels like gas pains up against my right lower rib and it's been driving me crazy all day...
heathh, I was having pains like that a week and a half ago. The OB said it was intestinal and was too high to be baby related, aside from the pregnancy causing constipation and all that jazz.

I think I figured out a way to take a years leave from teaching once the baby comes!! DH and I crunched numbers tonight and it makes sense. I'm so so excited!!
@mamatowildones my son seems to always wet a lot at night too, even when he has not had a whole lot to drink. For a while we used a cloth diaper cover over the top of his disposable to prevent leaks and it worked great, just another suggestion.
My random for today is that I was checking on my insurance claims and noticed that I was charged $3000 for my NIPT testing. The doctor's office told me if it was not covered it would only be about $150 at most. WTH!?! Obviously my fault for not checking into it more first, but we had a scare at our Anatomy Scan last time and wanted to get answers early this time around. I called my insurance and they will not budge unless my doctor can show that it was medically necessary. Well, shit.
@livin541 I'm sorry, that really sucks. I went through something similar when my son had surgery last year. It was so frustrating and I felt like it wasted so much of my time. Being a grown up is really no fun sometimes.
I just found out that my husband gets 6 weeks of parental leave. That's awesome! He'll probably take a month right away, maybe work from home a bit when he goes back, and keep a couple weeks to use as needed. I definitely feel more at ease about getting settled in when the baby arrives now.
@livin541- I feel like this may not help now, and I hate it for you. : / My office said that the lab charges the insurance company a HUGE amount for the test, but that if it's covered, obviously, you would only pay a fraction of that. However if it ISN'T covered, the insurance company has to charge you the full amount they were billed. Since we knew it wasn't covered for us, we said DO NOT RUN IT on our insurance and we agreed to a 'cash price' of maybe $140.
Maybe the lab could reverse the claim and you could just pay them directly? Might be worth looking into...
@MoshiMoshi7@starphish18@emilyalso I appreciate the advice and support! I have an doctor appointment on Wednesday and plan to talk to them about it then. Fingers crossed!
@livin541 - I had a huge claim like that with DD for the NIPT that hit my insurance and deductible. I never received a bill from the lab so I ended up calling them months later. They had written off the claim but then they asked for payment when I called for only the $150. Moral of the story, when you get the bill, call the lab and tell them what your provider had told you and hopefully they will honor it.
ETA just to add that if the lab won't honor it, then you might want to call the doctor's office. It could just be a matter of them resubmitting the claim with different coding.

Does anyone feel sick and have pains after a meal? I'm already eating small meals and eat slow so I have a better idea of when I am satisfied, but it seems like within an hour of finishing, I'm having a gross feeling in my stomach and epigastric pain for hours.
@livin541 when I had a hysteroscopy the doctors office billed my insurance and the claim said my portion was supposed to be over $16k, I never had to pay more than the $500 that I was originally told.
Shisito peppers are not to be trifled with. Sure, I knew 1 in 10 are spicy, but somehow the odds were in my favor every other time I had them. I got a spicy one today. It effectively ended my lunch. Tears were streaming down my face and milk was no where to be found. Then it hit my digestive system. Let's just say it's been 10 hrs and I'm still experiencing a variety of burning sensations.
I'm having pain in my lower back/upper butt slightly to the right side. It's worse when I wake up and it catches me by surprise throughout the day. Anyone else experiencing similar pain. I'll ask doc about it at my checkup on Thursday.
@clebl24 Yes, I've been experiencing this the past week too (19 weeks today, STM). My next check up is Monday... let me know what your doc says (although I'm barely catching up on posts and quoted you right away so I wouldn't forget and someone else may have already responded...).
@achays11 I'm with you - time is NOT moving fast! You're at the end of the month too right? Might be because I feel so behind everyone else, milestone wise.
@ShadeofGreen816 and @achays11 I was due the 28th my last pregnancy and felt the exact same way as you two. This round I'm due the 9th and it is flying by.

I would mention this to your doctor. It could be normal pregnancy stuff, but it could also be related to your gall bladder. I had pains like that last pregnancy and had to have it removed after DD was born.

Well I nearly started an interdepartmental war at the hospital but I got my damn anatomy scan scheduled. Military hospitals are so weird sometimes.
Sorry for everyone fighting insurance. We are not approved for NT scans or NIPT blood work here so I get trying to fight for things. Just getting a single draw quad screen took a bit of coaxing!

This is baby #3 but my first delivery at a military hospital and it is SO strange. It's like jumping through hoops to get things scheduled and I hate hate hate that they only open their schedules every 30 days. How am I supposed to plan for daycare when I can't even schedule an appointment in advance?!
I also feel like things are different from one military post to another... like they pushed a quad screen on me, but wouldn't allow an NIPT or NT Scan but then in my further research I hear of people having an NT Scan... Make up your freaking mind Tricare.

Quoting you because I can't tag you.
I think it is more of an MTF thing than Tricare. I had the first half of my son's prenatal care at our old duty station which has a brand spanking new hospital. But then we came here which is a lot smaller and older and I am doing the single quad screen instead of the double because the lab here apparently can't do the two step one.
This one has a new policy where they wont schedule you for the anatomy scan until you are 22weeks! I can't take off work that week so trying to get approval for scheduling between 20-22 took a lot of phone calls.
The calendar thing drives me bonkers. Whenever I know my son was due for a routine checkup I set an alarm on my calendar for one month prior and call daily until the dates open up.
