@starphish18 I grew up with a first name that ends in the same 2 letters my last name starts with. I just always went by a nickname and it never really bothered me. Think Elizabeth Thatcher....Liza Thatcher. (Not my real name, of course). Does the name you like have a nn you would use?
@PghMom412 That one actually doesn't have a nickname that I've thought of yet. It's a pretty short name as is. I love the name, but it just kind of slows down when I say it out loud with our last name. It doesn't have the best flow. I don't know if that would prevent me from using it, though.
@CherylE418 LOVE Porter David! I tried to get my DH to consider Porter, he wasn't a fan with our last name, but it is one of my favorites and the name David is really solid
@march2008 I also love Julia. It's not very common and is more traditional but still seems different.
As for our names, we're having two girls and have had a hard time. We're thinking Molly and Ophelia. Our daughter's name is vintagey and very feminine and I like both of these names, but I'm not sure that they all go together. Also, no one in our family likes Ophelia, but it's our favorite by far. We have a crazy last name, so we're doing Molly June and Ophelia Kate hoping that the middles break it up enough from our last name....
@march2008 - I also love Julia! We're having a boy, and really wanted to use Julian, but one of our best friends just had a baby girl named Julia...so I feel like that would be weird. Such a great name though. Reminds me of Julia Child, whom I love

@Jkp7749 , I love Ophelia! It's a super pretty name that you don't hear very often. I find it really strange when family has an adverse reaction to a name choice. Think of something nice to say or just don't say anything.
I'm not 100% sure yet but I'm thinking this baby is a boy and we are going to name him Chase Anthony (I think) Anthony is a family name but I'm a fan of Chase. It's different without being too different. My DD has a very unique name so my son has to have a unique name too.
@kayemjay2 All your names are awesome! All sound like the names of a very successful man! @nda_roxybabe Henry all the way! Family names are great! Otherwise Husdon is second for me. Lennon Grace is a perfect name! Also the comment about being called lemon by little friends is adorable. I picture the sweetest lemon themed birthday party. Lark makes me think of the show Life in Pieces. Recommend if you haven't watched. "@n&pmomma" Tyler is cute and you do not see it much anymore. I do love Max and Rhett though. @newmamaro We will be using a runner up if this baby is a boy. And actually it has me excited to have another boy. Our top 1 and 2 last time flip flopped until the baby was born and my husband put his foot down. @mrspre123 Love Cash as a full name if that is an option. @RainyDays86 I love Dar! Its different and meaningful. I am with you on family names for middle names. @livin541 Theo and Bennet are my fav @Yiggle09 Love Clara @Squirtgun Thomas Martin makes me picture the cutest dapper little boy! @KMD1106 I LOVE the name Leo, but it is a very close relative and would cause confusion so we wont be using it. I do not see any clashing with your choices. @starphish18 Actually I think that is kind of neat! It makes a person slow down when saying the full name. @alr5k Love Whitley Kate!! So much love!! @jdebaie My vote is for Scarlett Eliza @Jkp7749 Ophelia is a very lovely name. As soon as there is a perfect little face to go with it anyone's reservations will melt away.
We have talked very, very little about names. It will be a topic once we have the anatomy scan. If it is a boy the name will most likely be Louis John. I am not at all in love with John, but my DS's name is completely from my family, so my husband at least gets the middle of this one. He will probably get called Louie by some which I find sweet. I am leaning toward Tessa Jules for a girl. Jules is the nickname my father calls my mother. My husband likes Hazel as it is his grandmother's name. While I love the name, I know that Grandma Hazel actually doesn't like her name and it is becoming more and more popular. I hadn't thought about names flowing with my son's. His is Everitt James. The spelling is weird because it is a family name. Names are hard and so permanent.
@Kipperoo i agree! family kept talking about howtyhey didn't like it and DH got tired of it and said "well that's our kid's name, so..." and i know that's obvious but i hadn't necessarily thought of it like that... they're literally talking junk about their granddaughter since we've decided.
@jkp7749, I know...it's weird once you've actually finalized the name. When we told everyone we were naming our son Sullivan, the family reactions were super mixed and it annoyed us so much that we said we were avoiding telling people this go around. Of course, that hasn't happened and I've mentioned to most family members that we're leaning towards Estelle. The reaction has been either really positive or silent. I'll take the silence over direct criticism any day. Haha
@Louise_Belcher OMG a lemon themed party, I think you sold me. I told H last night about the nn "Lemon" and he got the sweetest expression about how cute that'd be. LOVE Life in Pieces
@Jkp7749 my original top names for a boy and a girl got criticism from my side of the family. Unfortunately their comments swayed MH to not want to use those names.
@nda_roxybabe I mentioned Lennon to MH and he loves it. He was even trying to come up with mn's for it. I don't think we'll steal it, but it may be a possibility. Would you mind?

Cute! Of course not, you dont even live near me I dont think
We are having a really hard time with names this time around. I like very different/unique names, fiance likes traditional very common names. I don't think we've even come close on any... Examples
I like: Stark, Asher, Oberyn, Ezra, Finley, Gideon, Malachi, Pierce
Fiance likes: Robert, David, Samuel
we made a deal with DD that if he let me have Sloane for her first name (he liked it but didn't love it) he got to pick the first name of our next child (i only wanted 1).... so now i'm having to eat my words
Thanks @BeachMommy2B! I'm worried Asher is too close to my cousin's name that I see all the time (Ashley). If they both go by "Ash" it could get weird. I had a former coworker with daughters named Logan and Sloane. I always loved those names, especially together.
@nda_roxybabe yes! totally where Oberyn and Stark came from and now that I think of it Gideon is from there too isn't it... that one actually just came up on a baby name app I had ..haha funny thing is, Fiance is way bigger fan then me so I was surprised he didn't like any of them.
Major props to @Louise_Belcher for tagging and responding to everyone in one thread!
This! I can't believe she can remember everything. are there notes taken? I read through a few and have thought and then they are gone before I get to the bottom.... I can remember a max of like 2 thoughts at a time HA

This happens to me ALL the time... especially in the randoms thread. By the time I get in, there's like 75 to read through, lol.
@BeachMommy2B oh yeah I totally wrote it down. My memory is crap! I was at my desk so my note pad and pen were handy. When I started I didn't realize what I was getting into lol
kayemjay2 I like Soren very much. It's like Kierkegaard, the danish writer. I completely forgot about the existence of that name. I might put it on my list too! Currently on the list: Enzo, Anatol and Odiseo.
@Louise_Belcher I'f I'm on the computer I'll open two of the same threads and on one go to the reply box and then as I have ideas I'll tag on the second thread in reply as I read first version of thread
I love the name Henry but DH has a cousin named Henry already with our same last name so that's not going to work. Jealous of all you who get to use that lovely name.
So far at the top of our list is Jamin, Elon, and perhaps Elliot. We want a name that is uncommon but not weird, I think these fit the bill.
DH's middle name is Stanley and had been passed down as middle name though the men in his family. He and his father both hate the name and I don't like it either, so it might be time to break tradition, although I do feel kind of bad if we do. Decision, decisions....
H's name is Christopher. #1 son is Colt. Totally didn't plan on the "C" thing, but now that it is a thing, H wants #2 son's name to also start with a hard C. I came up with Cassius nn Cash and H came up with Cage and Cane.
Other names I like that others have suggested so far: Camden and Cullen (although too soon due to Twilight series...).
What sounds good with Colt?
My favorite C name might be Calvin. I'm not sure DH is a fan but that would be at the top of my "boy" list. So far DH has named our children and I am fine with that. He comes up with good names and I am so uncreative. We have an idea for a girl name (first, at least) but nothing for boys yet. We're team green, so we need to come up with both.
My DH and I really struggle when it comes to girl names! DD is Scarlet, and it took us a couple days after she was born to name her. We just found out we are having twin girls and have yet to really agree on names... a couple we are tossing around are Layla, Lilah, and Marley.
Boys we had a list we fully agreed on... Silas, Ari, Brooks, Leo, Greyson
So many beautiful names. Love Lennon and Soren. Both such unique names!!
Wondering people's opinions on the name Lainey for a girl with the middle name Rose. Does it sound too much like a nn? We were also considering using the name Delaney and using Laney as the nn. Also considering spelling options:
Lainey Rose Laney Rose
AND is Lainey too close sounding to my name? Amy?
also wonder what people think of the name Adalyn Rose
