Re: The Nursery Thread

  • @leslie1331 that came out fantastic! I'm going to be using chalk paint later this week to paint the leather portion of our bed. Can't wait to try it

Thanks! I ended up doing the Annie Sloan brand, though I know Home Depot sells other brands. Word of advice, it shows brush marks. I tend to lean more towards modern/contemporary so that was driving me insane. So I ended up doing the second coat with a roller. If you don't mind the brush strokes, then a natural brush is all you need!  And don't freak out after one coat, the second one really finished it off. Good luck!!!
  • @leslie1331 - I really like that dresser!

  • @BlondePeanut is that an old school drop front crib?
  • hahahhahaha! @spicyweiner i will try to take pics soon. Right now my whole place is full of boxes from a gig I did yesterday

  • @PerraSucia - Semi old school and drops on both sides. It's from a few years back. My grandfather and his new wife bought it for us. We made sure it wasn't safety recalled and had it inspected

  • @BlondePeanut that makes me really concerned. ALL drop side cribs have been recalled and banned from being resold. There are serious safety concerns for them and I would not feel comfortable putting my baby in that. And this is coming from a person who's generally a "rule breaker" when it comes to parenting stuff.
This is coming from a place of concern, seriously. But please please look into getting a new crib. There are cheap options out there that follow up to date safety standards. Even if it was "checked out" a drop side is just not safe and I would hate to see a tragic accident happen when you could easily avoid it.

  • Thanks @lct2008
I'm keeping baby in a large bassinet for the first year due to the new SIDS study that came out advising that babies sleep in parents room for the first 12 months vs the first 3-6 months. So that will give us time to scoop a new crib. I will have to let my grandfather's new wife know too b/c she is currently using an identical crib for her grandson every night and he isn't staying in their bedroom
  • I should clarify, sleeping in a large bassinet and then a pack n play when she starts pulling up/rolling
  • @BlondePeanut I feel like I heard somewhere you can put screws in the bed make it immobile. Dont quote me on that, but worth looking into!
  • @leslie1331 - yes I was researching and they have immobilizer kits that screw the rails in place to make them fixed. Thanks!

  • Catching up on this thread and I'm obsessed with your nursery @krob! It's so classy and clean looking! It will be such a nice relaxing space!

  • @krob Just an idea about the double curtains... we have light sheer curtains with blackout roller blinds behind them. When they're rolled up you can't even see them behind the curtains, but when they're down it's REALLY dark. That room is gorgeous, btw.
  • The bear case is amazing @Lafreeman21! I would probably just use artwork to draw the eye up. Do you have any styles or pieces in mind yet?
  • @Lafreeman21 looks great so far!! As for the ideas I would Pinterest the shit out of it, that's what I've been doing.  Or project nursery.  I feel like other people have great ideas that are easy to copy
  • @homemake that is awesome sauce.

  • @Lafreeman21 that bookcase is amazing. Clearly I'm a minimalist but I think art instead of something heavy and busy.

Ot clearly the california state flag.
  • @ohstars - that is such a nice blue. Do you the name?

  • @Lafreeman21 that bear bookcase is amazing! We did pegboard over the changing table for DS and love it, what I like most about it is as they age you can change the decor items on it without having to put new holes in the wall, you just rearrange your peg hooks. It's also great because it keeps the diaper stuff off the changing table so your child won't be trying to get it and put in their mouths
  • @krob can you come to my house and decorate? gorgeous!
  • @skiingstark my husband would be soooo jealous of your nursery! Therefore i cant even show him how cool it is cause i would never hear the end of it!
  • @skiingstark WOW! My H would like his office to be decorated like that! :D

  • @krob I love your frost doors and your fiddle leaf doesn't look like it's dying!   I think the whole vibe going on here is amazing

So where are you putting walls?  like around your bed area?
