@leslie1331 that came out fantastic! I'm going to be using chalk paint later this week to paint the leather portion of our bed. Can't wait to try it
Thanks! I ended up doing the Annie Sloan brand, though I know Home Depot sells other brands. Word of advice, it shows brush marks. I tend to lean more towards modern/contemporary so that was driving me insane. So I ended up doing the second coat with a roller. If you don't mind the brush strokes, then a natural brush is all you need! And don't freak out after one coat, the second one really finished it off. Good luck!!!
@PerraSucia - Semi old school and drops on both sides. It's from a few years back. My grandfather and his new wife bought it for us. We made sure it wasn't safety recalled and had it inspected
@BlondePeanut that makes me really concerned. ALL drop side cribs have been recalled and banned from being resold. There are serious safety concerns for them and I would not feel comfortable putting my baby in that. And this is coming from a person who's generally a "rule breaker" when it comes to parenting stuff. This is coming from a place of concern, seriously. But please please look into getting a new crib. There are cheap options out there that follow up to date safety standards. Even if it was "checked out" a drop side is just not safe and I would hate to see a tragic accident happen when you could easily avoid it.
Thanks @lct2008 I'm keeping baby in a large bassinet for the first year due to the new SIDS study that came out advising that babies sleep in parents room for the first 12 months vs the first 3-6 months. So that will give us time to scoop a new crib. I will have to let my grandfather's new wife know too b/c she is currently using an identical crib for her grandson every night and he isn't staying in their bedroom
@krob Just an idea about the double curtains... we have light sheer curtains with blackout roller blinds behind them. When they're rolled up you can't even see them behind the curtains, but when they're down it's REALLY dark. That room is gorgeous, btw.
My ILs and SILs came over to help us with the nursery today. We had boxes still in the rooms from moving so we went through everything, organized the house, got the nursery painted, and almost got the crib set up but everybody had to leave. So excited to finally be getting stuff set up!
Finally made some headway today too. We moved the guest bed out and set up the crib. Overall theme is nature, but we're using a lot of science prints we already have as opposed to baby-centric stuff, with a couple of exceptions. I draped the curtains over the crib so you can see how those tie in. Pic #1 is helpful pup being helpful.
this might go in the craft thread but it's literally the only thing I've done for the nursery. I painted the frame white, then I drew the letters freehand and cut them out. I had to paint the letters also because the paper was purple. Our theme is Peter Pan.
@Lafreeman21 looks great so far!! As for the ideas I would Pinterest the shit out of it, that's what I've been doing. Or project nursery. I feel like other people have great ideas that are easy to copy
So we were actually going to wait to do any nursery stuff until after baby was born. But we went to Target and found a few things we liked and well this is all we have so far.. Not sure about painting or much else as this is my 8 year old sons room currently and want him to be involved before we decide on colors exedra. Baby will be in our room in bassinet first few months so defiantly have time. Loving all the pics and ideas.
Whuf, I'm feeling pretty in over my head compared to some of these gorgeous setups. Baby currently has a dedicated corner in our office, her crib is in the master bedroom, and strollers/carseats/misc big stuff are all shoved unceremoniously in the storage room. Annnnd it will probably stay that way until she arrives :P
@Lafreeman21 I especially love how yours is coming together! I am a fan of bold paint colors and that blue complements the furniture nicely!
@Lafreeman21 that bear bookcase is amazing! We did pegboard over the changing table for DS and love it, what I like most about it is as they age you can change the decor items on it without having to put new holes in the wall, you just rearrange your peg hooks. It's also great because it keeps the diaper stuff off the changing table so your child won't be trying to get it and put in their mouths
Hope this makes it make more sense. Where that blue ottoman is right now we are building two real walls to make a closet. So we will have an enclosed master suite. The door on the wall closest to the left is a bathroom. And there already is an ensuite bathroom in the closet/nursery.
That headboard that is leaving against the railing is the current project to refinish.
Here is more updates with our Star Wars Themed Nursery. So fun facts, all fabric you see my mom made except for the bumper which is a special breathable bumper, which is really cool. Also crib and changing table got off of craigslist and they are Pottery Barn.
Now all the toys will not be in his bed, they are just there because we were painting his toy chest we found it on craigslist. Also the wampa rug is going on the ground, it is just up there for the pic. It is soo fury, and we think will be a great tummy time rug too. But we may need to use bleach on it
This is his toy chest we just finished We sanded, painted it and stencil it. So all his toys will go in there. Did I mention we have not bought a single toy it is all just gifts.
awww thanks @Gretchypoo if you weren't so far away I totally would!!
@PerraSucia it's hard to see from photos but we are putting up two walls one on either side of that blue rug on the ground. We will then affix a clothing system to the brick wall and one of the new walls and hang our clothes that way. So it will be a pass through closet to get to bedroom.
If you had had seen that fig before it was spectacular. But we are gonna get her back there eventually. Her name is Gladys.

@krob one of my closest girl friends is really young and keeps talking about how much she wants a house with a big yard and i keep telling her she's insane and basically closet space is the only thing that matters in life

Is now this dresser

Which matches the rocker. Win!And now I can wait impatiently for these babies...
At which point we will have a furnished, stark, un-decorated nursery!! Yay! I am super happy we made some progress, but soo much left.
Anybody have ideas on how to add visual height? Everything in there is waist-high.
I'm 80% committed to a similar white pegboard above the dresser..
But what the heck to I put with that bearcase to draw the eye up? (It's going against the wall behind the rocker)

And we we got the stripes done this weekend. Hoping DH finishes the floor soon!
These are a few photos I took last night of our 2nd floor which is where the bedroom and now closet soon to be nursery will be.

So where are you putting walls? like around your bed area?
