Aw, don't feel inadequate @Xstatic3333 !! I'm just crazy and a huge preparer. I'm one of those people that wants everything done, and everything done now...even if it doesn't need to be done for another few months. I just always want to be prepared for anything and everything as soon as possible. I also already started packing my hospital bag and diaper bag...because I'm crazy.
I'm totally with you in terms of where I WANT to be, @scifichick09! I just haven't gotten there in reality yet. Weekends have been so packed lately and H is unenthusiastic about the whole project.
@Xstatic3333 Our nursery furniture is in and the room is painted but only bc our shower isn't until January and I wanted to be able to enjoy the holidays :-)
Do not worry if you don't have anything done. Before yesterday the nursery looked like a disaster room that caught baby stuff and random stuff from the house. I just decided to work on it because I was avoiding doing actual housework that needed to be done. Haha.
I have nothing done either!! We still have to move DDs room and paint it so the baby can go in hers. But since the baby will be in our room a while we've been taking our time. I'm hoping to at least start painting this weekend though!

My daughter is sleeping in the crib and using the dresser until the very last minute plus our guest room will be the babies room so we've done NOTHING.
@WinchesterGirl isn't it always suspicious how nesting just happens to hit when there's other things that actually need to get done? Lol. Oh well. I just go with it. It all has to get done eventually anyway right? Might as well do something when the feeling strikes and I'm in the mood to do it.
I have some vacation planned over the holidays and expect to get the nursery done then... Never mind the fact that I'm already feeling pretty useless at most tasks around the house. I'm sure that I'll be way more productive in seven weeks.
@Gretchypoo I couldn't agree more. It is the strangest thing, because I'm usually really irritated if the house is a wreck. But now, as long as the nursery is spotless, I will deal with the rest of the house later!
I may have mentioned this before but we live in a loft like space with no closets, so we turned the 2nd bedroom into a walkin closet. It will now be turned into a guest bedroom/nursery.
Yesterday I impulse purchased this gorgeous rug at home goods. I'm probably nuts for buying a white rug, but it was tooooooo pretty and such a good price. Also snagged that faux fur ottoman. Glider came last week. Slowly but surely making progress
@krob i love that rug! Also, I can't remember if someone had already asked you this a while ago but do the bricks make your home colder? It's so beautiful but I can't help feeling cold.
We have finally started moving on the nursery. We bought this house pre-foreclosure and it was a hot mess. We have two rooms left that haven't been fixed and this nursery is one of them.
To set the stage, the walls are two different colors of pepto pink, the ceiling fan lamp shades are pink, they got the pink paint all over the ceiling edges and the painted right over the outlets (because why not).
So far I've done the cutting in of the ceiling paint and the wall paint. I've started painting the closet doors and door trim. DH is pulling the stained carpet out right now and we will order the matching hardwood vinyl that we have in the rest of the house.
Progress pics - the paint is blue, but you really can't tell because of the pink...
thanks @yogadevil but those curtains are unlikely to stay. I love them so, but they will be replace with blackouts. This room is south facing and gets tons of light. Little guy probably isn't gonna appreciate that in the beginning. But I am saving them for later.

We emptied the nursery out! So that's progress. We also installed our exploding death star light from Ikea.
I thought I was going to like it for nursing, since the fully-closed mode would be pretty dim. It is awesome for that, but it's always really dim We're leaving it for now and sticking a lamp on the dresser for changing diapers.
I'm loving following everyone's progress! We were finally able to paint the nursery yesterday so I'll be taking off the tape today and hopefully setting up the crib, dresser, and night stand. H will also eventually install wall shelves. The only other piece of furniture we need to get is a glider.
The walls are supposed to be mint green but it dried a little more blue and I feel like the pic is really blue. Hopefully once the white furniture is in it'll look pretty neutral.
Yesterday, DH and I set out to find the nursery chair. We hit up a baby specialty store (USA Baby) and tried every single glider, rocker and recliner they had. I picked out my favorite but DH wouldn't let me order it without going to at least one more store. So, we headed to La-z-Boy and ended up being able to get a chair with way more bells and whistles for a comparable price... It was a bit of a splurge but 1. it was on a great special for Veteran's Day (30% off everything) and 2. we plan on moving it to a living space eventually. We still haven't ordered a crib, but at least I'll have a place to sit?
@krob any way of installing a second curtain rod? Layering blackout curtains with the existing ones? Or getting a blackout roller shade? Because I agree, the curtains and rug look like they were matched intentionally, they look so lovely together.
every since @yogadevil mentioned it i've been thinking about a double rod situation. I just ordered some blackouts that actually will be hung a little higher up to cover and additional window above the doors. I may try to keep the existing curtains cuz you guys are right, it is a good pairing.
hubby spent the day stripping the dark stain off our old queen bed. gonna stain it a lighter color and paint leather white. this will be the guest bed in the room aka "grandma's bed"
@PerraSucia it's loft-like, some walls but no closets. Or could also be described as open concept on crack.
1st floor is one large space. 750sq ft. 15w x 50l. includes living, kitchen and dining. There is a full bath on this floor which it the only room with 4 walls. everything else flows from one space to the next.
2nd floor has one bedroom with ensuite bath with that we turned into closet. This is the only "real" room in the house outside of the bathrooms. the other 500sqft is our "bedroom" which is just a wide open space. does have an additional full bath in the same area.
its super hard to describe. and also hard to photograph. we are building two walls in the 500sq ft open space to create a closet and make the 3rd bathroom ensuite.

@krob so your nursery, bed area and guest bed area are all in these 500 sqft? Do you use the paperwalls or whatever they're called for privacy from guests?
Update - the pink is gone! Ceiling, ceiling fan, trim, closet doors and outlets are all white now and the walls are blue. We need a second coat of paint on the walls and flooring. If we have the time, we will be adding a green stripe so that this room is the exact opposite of DS's room (that his green wall with a blue stripe).
@PerraSucia right now the 500sq ft is just our master. But will become master and closet, using real walls. Guest/nursery is about 250sq ft and is already in closed with real walls.
I will try to take a picture to make it make more sense.

This weekend, our friend came up with the crib her son no longer needs. I finished painting the room on Wednesday, she arrived Friday night. the walls are somewhere between BM1125 Acorn and BM1123 Palm Dessert Tan (we got the wrong paint color, but didn't realize until long enough after that there was no way to know if it was their mistake or ours, so we mixed the color we DID get--BM1127 Sedona Brown--with white until the color looked good). I'll post some more pics in a couple days once I'm done re-painting the changing table and bookcase.
Wow, everyone's progress on their nurseries looks awesome so far. I envy the people who are ambitious enough to paint. I kind of lucked out with the sunshine yellow colour in the spare room we're going to be using for a nursery though. We're not finding out the gender, but it's easy to match with pink or blue(or any colour/picture) decals when the time comes. I feel bad that I'm so relieved to read many fellow moms to be still have spare rooms that look like spare rooms. My DH and I have a bassinet and some hand-me-down onesies right now, that's it. I'm not panicking about the crib since the baby will be in the bassinet in our room for at least a couple of months, but I need to kick my butt in gear on refurbishing the old dresser I have for the nursery. It still needs to finish being sanded then painted. I hope to get there by January.
Finally finished the dresser for her room, this was a dresser from my aunt that was a really grainy wood. I used chalk paint on this and it was pretty easy, especially with no prep! I had my H do a polycrylic top layer instead of the wax, I figured this would get a ton of wear and tear. But, definitely recommend the chalk paint if anyone has been thinking about it

Pretty much 85% of our walls are brick. I love it but wouldn't mind a little more sheet rock. More like a 50/50 split.
