@Spicyweiner I'm not sure about a lot of other schools, but we had a lice issue a couple years ago at my kids school. They checked all the students weekly. If a kid was found with lice they had a mandatory 3 days off, to try to get it under control. When they came back they had to go straight to the nurse for an inspection. It still got spread like wildfire. I sure hope that what you read was inaccurate information. I can't imagine if all those kids were permitted in the building. YIKES!!!
@Spicyweiner we would call parents if their child had lice, but again, can't send them home or suggest they be taken home or require treatment. We were also told we weren't allowed to discuss it with other students/parents, even to call and say "Hi Mrs. Smith, just wanted to let you know that there is a case of lice in the school!", because that is disclosing the health information of another student... I fully understand that I would never give the student's name or other identifying information, but I also feel that parents should be informed about what their children are exposed to if we have that knowledge and can help prevent further health problems or also treat it with early detection.
I work in a city with a drug resistant lice issue. The normal treatments don't work so they just keep coming back. I have kids I work with who have had lice off and on for over a year. I feel terrible for them and it's also just super gross and unsettling.
Are people still wanting to do an Ask a STM thread? I didn't post one yesterday and it seems to be pretty dead the past few weeks. I can still post one if there's interest.
For all the grumpy people here yesterday, that is me this morning. I stayed up to watch the Indians lose the World Series in extra innings. Running on 5 hours of sleep this morning and work is already annoying me. And the extreme weather shifts here are wrecking my sinuses. Going to be a long day!

I do like it but I don't think it needs to be weekly, maybe just monthly? Or if we are ok combining it with the gear thread since there are a lot of questions that are asked in there too

I think it can be a monthly thread. I do like them, and have gained a lot of useful information from those threads.
It's probably just FTM nerves and emotions going nuts but I'm kinda freaking out about her coming early. I just have a weird feeling that I NEED to be more prepared for birth like soon...
@Patience7150 Yes!! And her constantly trying to bust out both sides of the belly simultaneously! lol I had a dream not too long ago about her coming early and H keeps talking about her coming early. I just can't shake it! Plus my SILs are "planning" (as in nothing is even planned yet) my shower for the weekend after new years and I'm sitting here thinking "should I buy the stuff I need to have packed early or should I wait for my shower?" I don't know...
@becbec28 I wouldn't stress too much about being unprepared. For one we have plenty of time, for two there's a Jewish superstition that you shouldn't buy anything for a baby that hasn't been born yet. While we don't adhere to this rule strictly, we follow it to an extent and my SIL insists you don't really need that much in the first few weeks with the baby. They had my Dad and brothers building my nephew's crib the day he came home from the hospital. It's definitely manageable!
@BumpasaurusRex I had one of those mornings! I went on Walmart, target, Carters and Amazon and added all the things I wanted to my cart. Then closed the pages. Lol. I got to find the things I want and "online shop" but now I'm not broke and upset I spent money. And I have things for my Christmas lists for the kids and I to give to any gparents that ask. Lol.

Yes, I have been adding to my Amazon lists for the past week in prep for the holidays. I have a list of what we're getting DS so I add it to Amazon. It's just so tempting to add it all to the cart!
@becbec28 I have a shower "planned" the weekend after new years too! It's luckily a second shower for me (other side of the family), but it's still funny the similar mindset and situation. Like @MrsDramaK said though, I've convinced myself we really don't need much to survive with a baby, and H/my parents can always run out if something happens. We have a minimum of 48 hours in the hospital before they can kick us out
I was watching some philosophical Facebook drama unfold today. It went kind of like this:
Female Poster: "I really respect Carol Christ for her brave take on feminism and Christianity. How worship of a male only figure can be detrimental to a woman. Males have risen so high that they have overtaken female bodies and now women are letting male doctors make choices for their bodies during birth rather than allowing the body to do what it needs to do."
Now, I wouldn't consider myself radical anything. And I'm not super strongly opinionated at all, but I could see where the poster was going with this. With the assumption that the births she was referring to were completely healthy, natural births. So after much praise from other girls, a male decides to post in his own opinion.
Bigot Male: "Male doctors are better able to do medical procedures." Female Poster: "It's all based on the skill set, not the gender. And women have been giving birth to babies for a long time, I'm sure they could handle it without the male. They don't need a male to grow a baby, aside from one sperm cell, so they don't need a male to give birth either." BM: "Are you stupid? You women couldn't even have babies without us men to give them to you. Men are the givers of life because without men, there wouldn't be any life. Women get so much credit and get their bellies rubbed, but no one rubs my balls and tells them 'job well done' wtf is the big deal?"
Maybe it's my own pregnant hormones but this guy really just dry-humped my last nerve. This dickhead doesn't have to watch his body get massive and feel like nauseated, exhausted, breathless shit for almost a year, or have his vagina stretch to the size beyond that of a bagel to shove a human being out of it. All he has to do is have an orgasm. And he feels like he isn't getting enough credit? Ffs. I wanted to respond to him, but theres no reasoning with that level of stupid and I didn't really know the OP well enough to comment on her status.
Sorry for the long post. But shit, that boiled my blood.
I'm seriously terrified this baby is gonna come early too. Especially since he decided to move again and 95% of his kicks yesterday felt like they were directly on my cervix... Thanks boo! Haha But my concern isn't necessarily about having all the things, it's about him trying to arrive before or during our move... EEEEKKKKK!
Yeah, I'm not worried about having *everything* I'm more worried that she won't have anything to go home in or I won't have anything ready to go to the hospital.
@LivingLaVidaGinger That guy is a moron lol. Reading that made me mad but also made me laugh because I doubt he has a woman in his life and when he does he will change his tune. Men don't even know what this is like!
I'm worried about baby coming early too. Our plan which works best for us financially is to wait and get a van at the beginning of February.....I'm due feb 19th. We can't drive all three kids in the car now. Like literally their car seats won't fit. So I'm like really worried she'll come before we have our van. So my fingers are actually crossed that I go till at least 38 weeks. I think my concern is just because it's my third and so for some reason I have it in my head that third babies come early.
@TeacherMom2517 same here!!! the last 12 hours this kid has kicked me in the cervix non stop. it is by far the most uncomfortable shocking feeling i have had thus far. i keep walking and switching positions to try to get him to move. it makes me uncomfortable emotionally to think of him being that low already.

Oh, boy... what an asshat. Also, I' m stealing "dry humped my last nerve." amazing!
oh yes. The past 3 months I didn't have to stick to a budget because we had just moved to a new country, needed appliances and other big purchases, blah blah.
Well, November is our first "normal" month and it's only on the third day, but MAN did I get used to clicking "buy" on Amazon without really thinking about our account.
Now I go on amazon and I'm like, eh, can't buy anything anyway. I want all the things, but not enough to tap my "play money" for them. At least not this early in the month. Ask me around the 15th.
Guys, I need a nap. I'm exhausted. And I have a headache brewing. But I can't lie down, because the reflux is too strong.
*sobs*
In other news, I'm staring at the calendar, calculating the teaching days I have left until my leave starts, and I'm trying to figure out what my threshold of discomfort is when I'd be willing to sacrifice a week of pay to go on leave a bit early...
I was so out of it last night and today everything is just annoying me. I was cleaning up the kitchen last night and I just remembered that I didn't start the dishwasher. I also left soapy hot water in the sink to clean it out but never went back to clean my sink. Ugh... I just want to take the rest of the year off work so I can get my house put together!
I thought about digging up the teachers thread but I didn't feel like it...
I just wanted to give a huge shout out to all of the teachers here! I want to give you guys so much praise and credit! I don't know how you have the energy/effort to teach day in and day out!
I'm a school psychologist, so most of my time is spent either sitting one-on-one with kids to give assessments, or sitting at my desk writing evaluation reports. Well, one of the things I do in addition is teach suicide prevention one day each semester to the health classes at the high school.
Last semester when I taught I was not pregnant so I didn't feel tired or exhausted at all. Well, yesterday was my day to teach the kids and oh my goodness, I was so exhausted and sore by the end of the day! I literally went home and crashed until my H woke me up for dinner!
Watched Disney's Beauty and the Beast last night, after 15+ years since the last time.
Totally
underwhelmed. Pixar has ruined me. Pretty much the only part I liked
was the "Be our guest" song and the snowball fight scene.
You bite your tongue!!! I still love beauty and the beast. It was a favorite of mine, and I guess one if my first "chick flicks" I love the story. I have been bummed that our DD prefers the newer ones. (Tangled, princess and the frog, though they are cute too) I'm so glad though that movies like Shrek, despicable me, and monsters Inc exist. I'd so much rather the kids pick those out than watch spiderman (TV series) or something else equally sucktastic on tv
Guys, I made spaghetti and meatballs, with fresh yeast rolls and honey butter for dinner last night. I put actual effort into cooking for the first time in a week, and have been looking forward to my lunch leftovers all morning. I just sat down to eat and I left the rolls and butter at home.
DH does not understand that this is a food crisis.
@WinchesterGirl I purposely skip all the food threads, because they make me sooo Hungry for food I probably won't get to eat any time soon. Lately your been killing me with your foods, so I decided if I ever come to Florida I'm pulling out my spreadsheet (haha ) tracking you down and definitely having dinner with you... same for @Janefelicity but she's across seas (though odds of me coming to Florida are about the same lol)
@WinchesterGirl oh man, I love some sweet tea!! I also drink unsweetened but I don't do hot tea my stomachs already gowling... off I go to find my boring food lol
Re: Weekly Randoms (10/30)
Wtf.
So kids can just keep giving it to other kids?!
