Someone please tell me if im being a grump but does our page seem like it has a ton of specifc threads? I can barely keep up with the randoms so I never check the other ones.
I woke up on the wrong side of the bed so feel free to ignore me if needed.

I don't understand what you mean by a ton of specific threads. Like check ins? The alternative to specific threads would be a free for all, no?
I'm a big ol' grump today, too. Was up late, then couldn't fall asleep. Kiddo woke up at 4 am screaming, I think nightmare, so had to settle that fit down. Then a little more sleep before having to get up for work. Kiddo was good at first and then we got into a battle of wills which resulted in a spectacular tantrum delaying the whole morning. Frankly, I'm down right bitchy now. I used up all my patience and calm this morning before even leaving the house :-p

I'm sorry. I am with you. My H has been a lazy slob lately and I am getting so fed up. This morning I didn't even try to argue with him, just sent him on his merry way and then my girls and I had a great morning. Much easier to not GAF.

Of course, once I dropped the kid off at day care he was being super sweet and hugging and kissing me and smiley and wanting me to stay and play which I couldn't since I was super late. He's got me wrapped around that wee little finger, I swear. Driving me absolutely crazy one moment and the next making me melt.

By that I mean the craft thread, we have TW Tuesday and now Glitterfart Tuesday, Bitchfest Monday's, Family Matters. It feels like a few of those could be consolidated to one weekly bitchfest thread instead of a daily one.
Like I said, I'm just in a grumpy mood. I think the check in threads and symptom threads are good, even though I don't partake.
Fourth to being a super grump today. I made it to my work parking lot and almost called in sick. I have all the anxiety about money and getting the house done. H has been working really hard to build a shed so I can park in the garage this winter and not walk on the ice with a newborn...but at the same time, the garage is filled with his ISH so...can't we just get rid of it? Good ol' hoarding tendencies.
one of the forms my HR requires for maternity leave needs to be filled out by my doctors office beforehand. I mean I'm having a baby three months from today that doesn't seem that long, but the records lady made fun of me for being too early
@PerraSucia I'm with you on being early. I've already got FMLA and STD claims started in preparation for February!
I'm also on the grumpy train, and having a rough morning...
I left the house 30 minutes late, dropped my bagel (cream cheese side down, obviously) on my shirt on the drive in, tried to drop my car off for service and the couldn't take me, got sucktacular parking, and work has been festive... but on the plus side, I got a $17 credit of my comcast bill for my days out of service for the hurricane. Tiny win?
I do agree that there are some daily threads that are pretty identical, and could be consolidated. I do think, though, that some people won't participate in them if they become too long like the randoms.
@PerraSucia My FMLA paperwork has to be turned in at least 60 days before my EDD so that the school board can approve it, so I don't think it hurts to have things taken care of too early! Especially since we have Thanksgiving break coming up and also potential snow days.
I'm taking my paperwork with me to my appointment on Monday to be filled out and I'm due 1/29.
From someone that has been incredibly busy lately, I like having multiple threads. I saw the randoms the other day and it was like 88 comments, and that's so overwhelming. If I saw that all the time, I would probably just skip out completely.
And I am in a mood today too, no idea why. Everyone is just annoying me.
January does a weekly bitchfest and I think it's a good idea, but at the same time that board doesn't seem quite as active as ours. Ours could get crazy long and turn people off. Super long threads don't really bother me-I just jump in on the last page if I'm behind-but I know they do for many so who knows.
Add me to grumpy pants list today. 2 year old purposely getting into everything he shouldn't and 4 year old decides she didn't want to go to preschool this morning. Sorry kid you don't get to make that decision- put into the car kicking and screaming. I can't give in because she will just try it again some other time. At least this time she didn't make me late for work and was totally fine once we got to school.
I did my FMLA paperwork early last time around, but that was because I ended up on bedrest. Probably should look into when I have to do it this time around. I am doing my week of checking blood sugars too. Did it 8 weeks ago and passed with flying colors. Have failed 2 fasting levels so far and horribly failed my post breakfast with the stress of the screaming child. My fasting was great though so I thought things were better! I am hoping it is just a one time thing due to stress. Now this day can be al better with a Cubs win tonight- everything will be forgotten!
I do think all the organized threads are a lot, but I just skip the ones I don't like. I can't always post every day cause work has been nuts the last few weeks (I do lurk at least once a day), but when I do and see stuff is long I just skip to the end, but sometimes, I'm just like "Whoa I missed a lot" so I can see how it'd be overwhelming.
It must be that kind of day everywhere! Im not so much grumpy as absolutely shattered! Ive worked late mon & tue & then went in to work 2 hours early this morning as i couldnt stay late tonight & we still missed our deadline for a project. I collected my cousins little boy from daycare (i do every few weeks when her & her husbands schedules clash) & took him out for dinner & he brightened up my crappy day. Hes 2 and a half and just the cutest wee man & so much fun.
Kids are gross dude. Kudos to all the elementary school teachers because I would never have the strength to deal with a whole room full of sniffly, pukey, coughing kids all day. I'm afraid I'm gonna be a crappy mom because I am so freaked out by sick people and no one gets sicker than kids. I guess I'm gonna learn to deal one way or another. Lol
My school nurse called me today and said that a student has chicken pox but she called the state to ask about me and I'm not exposed directly enough to the student I guess. I didn't even know that was an issue with me being pregnant!! It was nice of her to let me know and look into it for me though.
@LivingLaVidaGinger Im pretty hard to gross out but I am totally a sympathy puker. Not looking forward to that. I think it might be easier to deal with the gross when it is your own kids? But maybe that is a naive FTM dream...

I am a sympathy puker as well. My kids are no special circumstance. My husband refuses to change a poopy diaper, but we balance it out because I refuse to clean up any puke whatsoever. The best I can do is if it's on a bed is hold my breath and strip the sheets. Then go for air, hold breath, grab the sheets and run them down to washer. Get air, hold breath and throw in washer I also can smell a weird general sickness off people with colds. When I volunteer at my kids school I have gagged numerous times smelling kids with gross colds. When my husband gets a cold I tell him to take medicine before he even realizes he needs it lol Ugh I feel ill just thinking about these stinky smells.
ETA baby spit up doesn't bother me, I'm talking about the real deal, throw up dinner, chunky stuff
@Starfish113 that's an awesome school nurse! That's sweet of her to look out for you
The last two years teaching in Elementary were horrific with the laws that you can't send kids home for Pink Eye. Their parents can choose to keep them home if they want, but technically we can't recommend that they pick them up or bring/keep them home. Both years we've just had straight 3 month spans where pink eye gets passed around and around and around to all the students, multiple times. I started Cloroxing all desks before students came in, had them clean them when they left, and scrubbed anything and everything that was communal space on a daily basis. We also couldn't send home for Ringworm, and sadly many of our kids couldn't afford treatment and weren't treated for it. I'm pretty sure I created some major germaphobes out of those little 9 & 10 year olds... some started walking into my classroom repeating my coined phrase, "I love the smell of Clorox in the morning!"

I think it's waaaaaaay different when it's your own kid. Still gross, but easier.

I hope so! I'm also a sympathy puker and this is one of my fears.

Guys this is such a FWP it seems ridiculous, feel free to make fun! But a house down the street, which is easily the ugliest house in the neighborhood, has been having some major renovations done. It was a red brick with cream vinyl for the triangle-y part of the roof and trim, but today they painted it ALL GREY. Everything. Brick, trim, vinyl, door. It's super industrial and AWFUL looking. I almost stopped on my way home from work to gawk. Like, it took us months to get a 4 foot high fence approved by the HOA with their preferred contractor. How on earth did that fly?!

This is so sad and unsettling to know schools aren't required to send sick, contagious kids home until they're better. And ringworm?? That makes kids scratch those areas and what better way to spread germs than through dirty little hands. Good for you for being so adamant on the cleanliness of your classroom and promoting those healthy habits to kids so they'll hopefully take them home and it'll become second nature. You're a stronger woman than I am!
