@yogadevil wowwww! You guys still have that?! Amazing! I wish that's how big our hospital bills are now, but on the other hand, I'm glad that we epidurals.
Happy birthday @winchesterGirl, hope the rest of your day after work was much more enjoyable!
Congrats to your H @lfrank12! I'm so happy for you that he got the job because that sounds like it will make life way better for you guys in many ways so that's awesome.
@Partyof6? I know all the little things start to pile up and can add up sometimes, but you seem like you're doing such a great job with balancing everything in your life and still being a wonderful mom to all 3 of your kids! I know the guilt can just sneak up out of nowhere sometimes, but for everything you might forget to do or that isn't completed yet, look at all you ARE getting done. Easier said than done I know especially in the day to day chaos of everyday life, it's so draining. Still, please try to give yourself some credit because holy shit do you deserve it, seriously!
@yogadevil, I love that bill from your grandmothers birth. Incredible. I was just taking to my mom and nana the other day about how crazy it is how much more everything costs now.
It's my birthday, and I'm sitting at work. Why do I never think to take my birthday off? The best birthday present I could have given myself would have been sleeping in this morning!
I have been so incredibly overwhelmed at work lately. Yesterday, I was 8 minutes late picking up DD because I just lost track of time and I thought DH was getting her. I felt like the worst mom ever (although my first time and there are always people that leave their kids there late and give no second thoughts!) and I just cried. I need to figure out a good work/life balance but I'm just trying to get organized and ready for maternity leave plus I am in a year of my residency that requires me to do a state assessment for my permanent license that has been taking all of my time. I just wish there was more time in the day..
aww @fourPsinapod. take it easy on yourself. Both my parents worked while I was growing up and I was ALWAYS the last kid picked up. I did hate it, but it wasn't that bad. I turned out fine.
In fact now it's an on-going joke in our family.

@lfrank12 Congratulations to your DH and to you! Home life balance is so worth a pay cut in the beginning, and just in time for baby!! That is great news!
@fourPsinapod You are doing the best you can, and there is always room for some grace when we are doing all we can. Your DD will not likely remember the one time you were a little late picking her up; she will remember a lifetime of a caring mom who was there for her. Just remember that one rough day/week/season of life does not make you less than a great mom. You can do this!
@fourpsinapod exactly what @winchestergirl said. 8 minutes isn't bad and like you said it doesn't happen often. You sound like an amazing mom, don't let mom guilt get to you. I am a lost person.. make the list of stuff to do for work and slowly chop away at it.
Hi all, I'm back and have a lot of catching up to do! But I just wanna say @Jab3 I second what PPs have said-- you are so courageous. Decision makers need to hear stories like yours because it is the only thing that changes hearts and minds. You are so brave and stronger than you think. I think of you and your family often and hope you find stable housing soon. You're going to be a great mom-- like, one of those moms that can lift a car off her child! *Hugs*
I'm so sorry @becbec28. That sucks, no way around it. Hoping you get some good information from your doctor and are able to get into a good rhythm for keeping your sugars low.
@Xstatic3333 Thanks I have to go to a 2 hour class next Friday to learn all about poking myself with needles and what kind of diet I need to keep. It sucks so bad!
@becbec28, I'm so sorry you have GD. I know you haven't been feeling that great about things in general either so I'm sure this doesn't help. Please remember I'm always here if you need someone to talk to.
@PerraSucia That's the plan. I was only a little high at my 1 hour and they said 2 of my readings were slightly high yesterday. So just diet and monitoring now.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about the GD @becbec28. Try to focus on that it's good you know you've got it so you can get as much info as possible to keep you and baby healthy.
Oh, @becbec28 that sucks so much!! I'm sorry you are stuck with GD, but hopefully knowing will mean a healthy baby and an easier delivery at the end of the diet!
While I was gone, my dog pulled a jar of pickles off the counter and broke it, spilling pickles everywhere. She also spilled something in the carpet (it's still a mystery what it was) and decided it was tasty so she ate a perfectly round hole into my carpet in the dead center of my living room and managed to eat all the gross foam underneath. Anyone want a 50lb neurotic little shit?

I may trade you for my 3 year old ginger little shit.
@becbec28 I'm very sorry about the GD! You can do this. Hopefully your finger sticks can help you figure out which meals you can handle best (maybe you can easily handle carbs at lunch, but dinner carbs will stay with you overnight). I'm extra sensitive to carbs in the morning. I aim for a blood sugar <120 at all times, but I'm type 1, and that's based off reducing fetal defects using insulin therapy. Their goals may be different if they won't let you use insulin.
My $.02: low carb bread makes good sandpaper, but mashed rutabaga is actually pretty awesome, and much less painful than potato. Low-sugar candy often contains sugar alcohols, which still raise your blood sugar. It's 5% of the taste with 50% of the blood sugar spike.
My favorite lower carb meal is veggie pasta (think spaghetti with meat sauce... only swap zucchini, eggplant, squash, and bell peppers for the noodles, and go heavy on the meat).
@becbec28 I'm sorry! That stinks I hope it doesn't end up being too rough for you. Then you should be allowed eat a whole ice cream cake after delivery without feeling guilty. Hugs!
I don't know if you ladies remember, but SO is still in the States because of his job while I'm in Germany with DD because of my job. We see each other every night (thank you Skype!) and he flies over every six weeks for a week or so, with 3 weeks for Christmas and 4 weeks around the EDD. He should be joining us for good in June.
Anyway.
Well, my family is 2 hours' drive away and while I do have friends here, it's nobody who expects to hear from me every day. Last night I just got incredibly anxious imagining scenarios where something happens to me in the apartment and nobody knows and DD is stuck in her crib and....you get my drift. So during last night's Skype conversation I made SO promise to call my parents if I ever don't respond for over half a day to a text or miss a Skype date unannounced. Definitely made me feel better. Guess I'm starting to get paranoid, but putting an alarm system in place, if you will, certainly made me feel better.
Oh, and printing a huge "numbers to call" page with other relevant information and sticking it right over the landline for anyone and everyone's reference. Tonight.
Someone please tell me if im being a grump but does our page seem like it has a ton of specifc threads? I can barely keep up with the randoms so I never check the other ones.
I woke up on the wrong side of the bed so feel free to ignore me if needed.
Thanks so much for the encouragement guys!! I really needed it. Sorry I was gone but last night was H's only full night home for this whole week (he's working a bunch of extra duty this week). I have to go to a 2 hour class to learn about everything GD entails but it's not until next Friday. So right now I'm just thinking what can I eat? lol It really sucks since we're coming up on Thanksgiving and Christmas; 2 major eating holidays and we cook so much good (read bad for GD) food!
Someone please tell me if im being a grump but does our page seem like it has a ton of specifc threads? I can barely keep up with the randoms so I never check the other ones.

I think it is weird that we still have daily ticker changes. Can't we make that weekly and people just post on the appropriate day? I'm a Friday and I don't hink we even post anymore...
ETA: I skip a lot if the threads.... Like " what im eating", "fitness" and the crafts thread.
I like that we have a good system of organized threads even though I don't check them all out.
Also, I like the Ticker Change threads. I like knowing where everyone is at! Some boards have grouped some of the days together like Monday/Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday/Friday and Weekend Ticker Change. That may also be a good alternative.

Re: Weekly Randoms (10/30)
Thought you guys would get a kick out of this. it's the bill for my grandmother's birth in 1926. It's hard to read so I'll type it out:
Room, 1 wife (midwife) $20
Room, 4 days $11.50
Delivery room $5.00
Care of baby $8.50
Pads and supplies $3.50
________
$48.50
+
$25 Dr's fees
$73.50 total.
@LilyASF42, @LaurenAshley04, @starfish113, @mamallamallama, @fishymom, @BumpasaurusRex, @homemake, @perraSucia, @yogadevil, @partyof6? And anyone else who said something kind to me I'm so sorry if I accidentally left anyone out! I'm trying to catch up on the randoms now and as usual I'm blown away by, but really not surprised by the outpouring of support from you guys. What you all said to me really means a lot and makes me feel better about the whole thing. Thanks again!
