@BriannaE129129 I say don't worry about it. There is a small group that would make the association and definitely not any of the kids he will be growing up with.
I think we may have settled on a name...Emily Grace. My DH and I both love the name Emily and Grace is my middle name. We originally wanted Rose for a middle but then remembered that horror movie about the Exorcism of Emily Rose so that ruined it for us LOL.
My DD1's middle name is a family name on my DH's side so now DD2 will have a family name on my side.

@mrshuse525 I love having family names as middle names. DS has his dads middle name (which is also DH's dad's first name) and this little girl's middle name will be my middle name (which is also my dad's first name). It worked out well that me and DH both have our dad's first names as middle names. I am so excited to pass my middle name on to our little girl.
Thanks ladies! That makes me feel better! It took us a while to figure out the name and we love it, I don't want other people making me question it (although i KNEW it would happen!)
I posted on here a while ago, but starting to panic since my DH and I put our original list together, we honestly haven't talked much about it since! We have a boy and a girl already and expecting or second boy. My son is Ell.io.tt, and my daughters name is pronounce E.V.
We aren't necessarily going with another E, in fact we don't have any on our list. So far names we like are:
zachary desmond grayson kyle
Looking for options to add to our list because I'm starting to doubt. And I know it's not due to overthinking, since we haven't been talking much about names lately. Ahh, this is stressful!!

Not having a boy, but I've become obsessed with Desmond for a boy in the future! DH is not into it

I really like Zachary Kyle is also nice!
Others could be: Jameson (James) Jeffrey Hendrix (I have a cousin with this name) Erik
We are leaning towards Paul Harold DH doesn't seem to care about middle name since the baby is probably gonna be his middle name (Paul). Opinions on the flow?

I think Paul Harold flows great with a one syllable last name. If first and middle names have a different amount of syllables I like alternating name lengths depending on the last name - so for me I like shorter first longer middle short last or longer first shorter middle long last.
karaelaine1991Kittievr4 Zachary is what my husband is leaning towards! Kyle is actually my mom's name and our last names are very similar. At first I thought it was weird but now I'm kinda liking it. We are keeping the name we choose a secret, but if we go with Kyle, I sorta feel like I should ask my mom if she is okay with it because I would be changing genders on her - even though Kyle is mainly a boys name, and I KNOW she would be okay with it. I just feel in my gut I would want to get her blessing first, ya know?
Jameson was also very very high on my hubby's list both this pregnancy and the previous one...I just can't get on board with it for some reason. All I picture is the alcohol. :-)
@BumpingUpto3 Interesting! I've never heard Kyle as a girl's name I, personally, don't want to do the gender bend with names, but I have no issue that people do it. Some people fit their gender-bent names so well you can't really argue, ya know? If you would often refer to your kid by their full name, then I agree Jameson might not be the best, but I like James as a NN lol
As far as asking for your mom's blessing, I don't think you're really changing genders on her, just going with the traditional. We're considering something similar with mine and Hubby's grandfathers but until the baby is born no one gets to know what we're choosing. If you're feeling you want to get the blessing, I say do it because otherwise you may not feel right about choosing it (if Kyle is your narrowed down choice)

I've always said growing up that I would totally name my daughter a boys name just like my mom - it wasn't a trend then! Now it totally is, and it changed my mind on the issue (we almost picked Dylan as our daughters name), which I still think is adorable!
I'm starting to like Kyle the more I think of it :-)
For us, picking our daughters first name was super easy and we decided on Irelia almost immediately, but the middle name has been tough. The top contender for middle name is Noelle, and I really like it, but I worry that I'm just settling for the first good middle name we've found.
Still no name yet...I think DH is going to wait till the last minute to decide. I want a name! I'd like to call baby by his name lol. So far still liking Alexander the best, but DH isn't 100% set on it, he DID say that he likes Jude Alexander too...so there is still hope for a 5th J lol
My niece (2 years old) was mad today because baby doesn't have a name and she wants to call her on the phone (because yes baby has a phone inside my tummy). Her mom asked what we should name it and she said Sam (which is what my DS's name is). When her mom told her we can't name both our kids Sam she said baby sister. We don't share names with anyone ahead of birth but I thought this was really cute. Wish she could have had some ideas though because we don't have a name to keep secret at this point.
@Carly79 My 4yr old said the same thing for the longest time, if baby was another boy he wanted to name him Jared...our 2yr old is Jared LOL we kept trying to explain to him that you can't have two kids with the same name...silly boy!
@Carly79 we have no names yet, and according to my oldest son (a 3 y.o.) the baby should be named Goofy. He burst out laughing everytime he tells someone thats the baby's name. Haha
My son will be 2 in November so really doesn't get it all yet and doesn't have an opinion but I would love to know what he'd name her. I'm sure he'd say Minnie since he is full on Mickey everything right now. When my sister was pregnant with her second, her first thought they should name him Chinese. Where kids come up with things is beyond me but often so cute
Carly79KMck27 - my 4 year old is doing the same thing. When I ask him what his baby brother should be named, he says "Elliott"...that's his name :-) Too cute!
But then yesterday, when he was in front of his teacher, I wanted to show her that's what he says...so when I asked him again what he wanted to name the baby, he was like "what baby?"....Thanks a lot! LOL!
@mommywesley I am the same as you. I want a name! It helps me connect with baby. For DH its not an issue. As long as baby comes home from the hospital with a name thats good enough for him.
We are leaning towards Lia Elizabeth. But i feel the need to name her after she is born. Even though i love the name, I feel like we should go in with 2 names.
Naming our baby girl has been a battle at our house. I wanted a traditional family name but my DH wanted something totally different. We finally decided last week on Ella Grace. He actually picked a name that wasn't horrible and I jumped on it. My family loves the name but his mother claims that it doesn't flow with our last name "Lewis". Thankfully my DH told her that she will get use to it instead of trying to change it to please her!
Of course we get all the Star Wars jokes. But now that the new show "Luke Cage" is out... I'm just waiting... lol
Luke is our backup name in case the ultrasound tech was wrong and this baby turns out to be a girl. Half the reason is because of Star Wars, not gonna lie
Ok guys.... my husband had a "sign" the other day while walking our dog and he suggested the name Fox. If we go with that and his middle name we had already decided it would be Fox Howard. I'm kinda liking it, but I don't want to be viewed as one of those weirdos who can't pick a real name- but it is seriously growing on me everyday.
I'm pretty late to this thread. I'm super upset to be honest because I've had my girl name picked out since 6th grade and my fiances mom and sisters said absolutely not. Because it goes hand in hand with his aunt that NO ONE likes. Which really upsets me because I think it's one of the prettiest names I've heard. It was gonna be Raeliene Corrine (my 1st middle name) Riley Dickey. But Ramona and Raelene are like James and Jimmy. Ugh. Plus his youngest sister went to school with a girl named Raelene (I did too, that's where I first heard it, she ended up in his little sister class though) and she can't stand her, so she immediately thinks of her. So we're down to my other 2 favorite girl names. I am verrrryyy picky about names. But mine is Andromeda so it kinda just happens haha. I'm all about nicknames, cause I hate short names. My fiances is 3 letters long and it just drives me nuts. I'm also a writer, so names are pretty important to me. So anyway our names now are Delanie (which is winning, Lanie for short) and Averille (Averie for short) but I have no middle names for them....and fiance doesn't like the idea of passing on my middle names. And 90%of the women in my family's middle names are Lynn.....or Jean. So no go there. Our sons name is Declan, so I really like Delanie, though I swore I'd never synchronize my children's names, I have never liked that lol but I love Lanie, it's just too short on its own. I love Lanie Kaede, but fiance says Kaede sounds like a boy name. So I'm stuck again lol

@andromedacorrine My middle name is Michael and that will be the middle name we use for this baby girl. It's after my dad but I love it. I think if you Kaede as a middle name go for it.
I really wish we would come up with a name. But then I think back to naming DS. We really struggled and while it was not the plan to go to the hospital without a name we did. We had a short list with 2-3 names on it but nothing that really jumped out. Once we met DS we came up with Samuel which was not on our list at all. Given that history, I really don't want to go to the hospital too set on a name but definitely would like to have a few more ideas being thrown around than what we have now.
@andromedacorrine I agree with sagoon - you name your baby what you want. Fwiw I don't think Ramona and Raeliene are similar at all. They share two letters but none of the vowel sounds rhyme - I would tell my MIL and SIL "I'm sorry you feel that way but that's not my problem"

Both are family names. Wesley is my FIL's middle name, and John is my dad's and grandfather's middle name.
This is our first, so when we have baby # two I plan to do at least the middle name from my mom's side of the family.
We didn't plan on doing family names for anything other than middle names but my husband mentioned Wesley one night and it just stuck.
