@scifichick09 The best thing we ever started doing with paint is buying those little sample cans and instead of painting directly onto the walls, we buy packs of cheap white poster board to paint on. Then we can put the brand/color on the back and can easily move them around the rooms at different times of day to see what they look like. It helps us to see the undertones so much better. I think we have around 10 different poster boards with varying shades of gray on them.
We also use Behr paint so the sample cans are smaller and less than $5 compared to some of the other brands that give you a much bigger sample but then cost $10+.
@peachesnbean, I LOVE the hedgie theme!!! I have a thing for hedgies, and even had one for 6 years and can't wait to get another one.
Okay, my nursery is gender-neutral because I can't stand the thought of over-gendering my child (I'm one of THOSE people) and will have a forest friends theme with a touch of whimsy such as a painting looking out of a hobbit-hole, lots of dragons. https://www.pinterest.com/jrobin19/rugrats/

@TeacherMom2517 It is the Charlotte from BRU... it was expensive, but we decided to splurge. Mom surprised us and bought all four other pieces of the baby furniture (she likes to buy all her grandkids cribs, but we did not expect her to buy all 4 pieces!), so we reallocated more of our own funds to the glider.
Pottery Barn is sold out of their girl whale theme so I'm just going to put a bunch of stuff together for the nursery. This is stuff from my Pinterest board. I live on Cape Cod so we love whales!:
@Starfish113 Love that!!! Do you guys have Hobby Lobby? I was in there a month or so ago and they had a good amount of nautical stuff. Might be worth checking out for some accessories

We are doing a nautical theme with whales on the bedding. Luckily it was my DS theme and when we moved the room we put him in really wouldn't work with the blue color. So he has a Jungle theme now and we can use the cute whales we originally got for him for our new little guy.
I'm going with these colors: I want to use the navy as the accent wall in the room, the rest of the walls will be beige. I'll use the other colors for accents, except the gray.
We are country folk for sure. DHs a farmer/rancher and we have a herd of 85 cows/calves. So I also want to incorporate some country accents, but not overdo it with a completely cowboy room. I want to use a rope like above this crib to form the letters of his name and put them over his crib. I also want to use a small stock tank for toys, etc. I will also be adding prints of calves into the room.
So, thoughts? Am I making sense? Does it sound ugly?

So my nusery is a grayish-sea foamy green color and I've decided that since we painted it about a year ago that I don't want to change it. I'm trying to stay in line with what matches that color, but I'm kinda on the I don't care train right now. My furniture is almost a cherry color. These are my top contenders in bedding for baby girl. These are from Pinterest and I think a good friend is making them. The flowers and bow will match whichever bedding is picked. I'm also thinking about getting the white deer head that someone posted a picture of above. I saw it at my local target. My DH is having a hard time grasping the "pink" think so I'm trying to not be too frilly and he is an avid hunter so I figured this was right up his alley.
For Those who got a babyletto hudson crib, what type of mattress fits best? i dont want one thats going to be too short or too long... I know different mattresses vary by 1 inch or so-- thanks!
Hubby just finished painting a wall black in the nursery, building the closet, installing crown molding and I bought this 55 in white canvas to hang above the crib on the black wall. It's starting to come together

I have babyletto and I went to our local baby store at the time and I only had three to choose from, I don't remember there being a size difference. Can you contact them and ask?
I will have to get some pictures going....DH still has to paint the walls in the nice green tone we have....they are currently a very very sad dark blue/grey that he calls a depressing wash lol. It isn't a nice grey at all. BUT I hung the artwork to see where I want it and organized the layout, set up her pack n play, lined up the crib parts so that can be assembled, etc. I literally walked by the room a billion times yesterday to look at it and my heart kept melting. I also did a crafty move, and made her curtains myself! They are a hot pink zebra print with white lace at the top...and I was very impressed with my craftiness. It just made me feel better to get it done....plus I wanted to get the heavy work done before I lose my energy and am huge
@yogadevil I love your changing area! The baskets look great.
The rug I ordered arrived, and it is definitely the wrong color. It is more mint green than aqua, so back to overstock it goes. How I'm supposed to get this shipped back to them is still TBD.
Aqua changing pad cover included for comparison to what color I was expecting!
Last night, DH finally circled back to my original color choice for the nursery: green. Theme now set at safari/jungle. I think this mobile helped seal the deal (even though he made sure to tell me that sloths would not be living in the same ecosystem as lions, zebra and giraffes).

@Gretchypoo - I can totally see a mini version of engineer DH running around telling me how my decor choices are inconsistent with science. Hopefully w/o the facial hair.... cause that would be weird.

Haha! or wearing one of these to complete the look

LOL! My H rejected my initial idea of a sea otter mobile because they would be the only west coast critter featured in the nursery. We settled on one that has local (east coast) birds.

Also, DH put up the ceiling fan last weekend. Previously it was just one of those old round lights.
