Let’s talk about our plans for nurseries! Are you doing a theme, a color scheme, or something else? Will baby have their own room or share with family members? Do you plan on changing baby’s space much as they grow or are you designing for the long haul? Is this fun for you or a dreaded chore?
Re: The Nursery Thread
I'm so excited for this thread!! Since this is our first, baby will have his own room. Color scheme is teal, grey, and white with arctic wolves.
Nursery walls are being paint grey:
And this is our bed set:
Painting this weekend!! And then it's time to assemble the crib! Yay!!

But now I can't decide on bedding. I really like elephants and owls, but DH is so "we'll see" about everything that he's making it hard to get excited. The mint walls are so cute though.
Funny story about the wall colors, I have a five year old nephew and three year old niece and every room of their house is painted the same color (it's a neutral beige color) and I told them I painted a room green and my niece laughed like it was the funniest thing ever and my nephew just looked at me and said, "Walls are not supposed to be green, they are supposed to be beige." And I thought it was the funniest thing ever that he is 5 and literally did not understand walls could be different colors.

Here is a collage of some pieces I plan to pull together. Background is Valspar Panacea, which is our bedroom walls. Theme is hedgehogs and pineapples. I just really love both of those things. We find out sex on Friday, will pull in more pink if its a girl and more blue if its a boy.

Nursery furniture is babyletto
These are just stock photos, not my own.
We have a cream glider.
I have a lot of ideas plus there are so many good quotes to use. Have not done a thing yet though.
We are keeping the gray that's on the walls now, so at least we don't have to paint.
I really, really suck at decorating. My house is pretty plain jane. The most cutesy thing I have is a collection of antique Ball jars in my kitchen. So, I'm keeping it simple and buying some things from BRU so they will all match.
But I do envision a huge fluffy rug in the middle of the floor. I may regret this when it's time to clean, but I like how it looks!
We are planning on having baby in a bedside crib in our room for the first few months and doing diaper-changes in the bathroom, so the baby's room is being set up without any of the usual baby gear and I’m hoping it won’t need any major changes for quite a few years! The crib is white so it will look fine in the nursery when we move it there, but we might just do a floor bed once baby is sleeping in their own room.
Since I love thrifting and we moved a few years ago and ended up with spare furniture, we already own a lot of the furniture that will go in the kid’s room…
-mid-century daybed painted green
-white desk
-mid-century white and wood dresser
-glider in white wood that MIL found at estate sale last week.
I'm not sure we'll do a theme for the art and accessories...maybe woodland animals...maybe just random cheerful stuff.
I think our only big purchase will be a rug (the floors are a lovely hardwood, but I’d something softer under the bed.) The biggest decision will be whether we paint the wood trim around the windows & the biggest chore is going to be emptying the room, as it has become my dump zone over the last year.
I love design and decoration, so I'm having a blast putting the nursery together.

@vastra I Love that bird! and the colors.
@Homemake I am suppppper jealous you are doing PP! I love PP. I cant still quote the first 10-15 minutes of the movie word for word. You are now on my list of nurseries to stalk cause I can't wait.
Ok so I am going to be the annoying person who wants tons of opinions.... We are team green which is super hard cause with my DD we knew at 11 weeks that we were having a girl and her whole nursery was decked out months before she came (her color is purple/teal).. so this one is different. I know if randoms I asked about mint, that will be coupled with navy for a boy or coral/pink if its a girl. Sooo here are my questions/opinions::1. I am considering getting ALL the same stuff for this child to match (with exception to color) meaning same crib, dresser, and glider. The crib is the same style but grey, the dresser would be the exact same, and the glider is soo close you would never know the difference. Is this a good idea? My thinking is they are convertible cribs and will be keeping the furniture for a long time so they would not have any debates over whose is better than whose. But I feel a little silly about it.
2. Mix/match furniture color. The dresser that DD has (which I love and is perfect) doesn't come in grey so either we would get white and leave it or I could get white and paint it grey. Thoughts?
That's all I've got so far... here is the crib. I would love to see if I can find some pictures of DD nursery too. The purple is obviously DD (I could only find one).

We're team green so keeping it gender neutral. I'm thinking of maybe mint green for the walls which I debate a lot about because I want a soft color and don't want it to be too bright. We will have white furniture and maybe pops of grey with an elephant theme. Here are some of my ideas:
I am now just finishing up the decor detail stuff. I need to purchase some frames to and then print out the prints I designed and have my SIL help me (read as she will make for me haha) the painted canvas with Baby girls name on it.
I mentioned before we are doing Harry Potter theme and I am SO stoked that H is letting me do it all and has no opinion about it lol
Our son was born 4 weeks early so I'm paranoid that this babe will come early and we wont be ready for her arrival. So I'm trying to get it all done asap. We are on vacation currently so stuff has been put on hold for a few weeks but once we are back it's go time!

Today alone we (DH and helpers. I was not allowed to move anything) sold a futon, moved 2 book shelves, 6 plastic bins, picked this up at the store, moved it all into the room, assembled the crib, and screwed the hutch to the wall. DH deserves a super hero cookie!
