Wow!! These nurseries all look amazing!!! I feel slightly behind lol I've been slowly working on it but I'm getting there!!!
ive started trying to organize my dresser as well...any STMs or FTMs that have some good ideas on folding things for the best fit? I bought these drawer organizers at Walmart and thought each drawer would be a size (ie 0-3,3-6,etc) with overflow going to the closet. I was going to make 4 rows (onesie, sleepers, tops and bottoms) but I feel that there's not enough space for that... So I'm thinking sleepers will go in the closet since they take up so much room when folded..here's what I have done so far!
I got the bed taken apart that was there and cleaned out part of it. Cleaning out the closet and getting th dresser downstairs is on the agenda for this week. Then we can wipe the walls down to prep for painting, get the carpets steamed and hanging new closet doors. After that, painting and decorating!
Everyone's nurseries look so cute! I'm so jealous of everyone who has made so much progress I'm slowly getting there...the room is painted and all the furniture is in there except for the crib (we have it, it's just not all in one piece yet) because we still have my 3 year old's old bed in there, which my in laws are taking next week sometime. I've bought a bunch of little things here and there. Here's what I've got going so far... Paint color
Our our crib is similar to this one but its older from when my sons used it

@R0824H this kiddos dresser has 6 smallish drawers. 1 is for socks/mittens/hats, 1 is for bibs/burp rags. Then I have 1 for newborn sleepers/velcro swaddlers, 1 for newborn onsies/pants. 1 for 0-3mo onsies/pants and 1 for 0-3mo sleepers/swaddlers. Pics below.
For dd1 I had 2 big drawers for clothes and basically only had the right size in there. Same concept: daytime clothes and pajamas. Now that she's 2 it's pretty much the same except the pajama drawer also has swimsuits.
For each kid, fancy clothes are hanging in the closet. And I have way too many clothes! We were given so many hand me downs with dd1 I gave half away and still had too many. I've bought a few newborn and 0-3 mo for this kid because mismatched seasons (dd1 was born in may).
Also, I fold newborn onsies in half hamburger style cuz they are small. Bigger that that the get folded hotdog then hamburger style. All footed sleepers get the hotdog then hamburger method. Velcro swaddlers and sleep sacks I still don't have a good method...they just take up space.
@R0824H I also forgot...I kept clothes that were too big in bins and pulled them down when I needed them. I also kept an empty bin in the closet for outgrown clothes.
@kbduke I got it off amazon for $30-40 (it was one of the first things I bought so I've had it for awhile and can't remember the exact price) It's 4x6.5 and super soft. When I first got it, I had it laid on in our living room to get it to lay flat and both of my boys were rolling around on it because they liked the way it felt lol.
In case anyone is feeling behind. Here's our "nursery".....and this is serious progress from before! We need to get rid of all DH's crap in the corner, move that armoire out, and then it'll be ready for painting. Trying to remind myself we still have 14 weeks.
@R0824H they get messy pretty fast haha. Once every 2 weeks I have to fix my 2yos drawers but she picks her own clothes so I've almost given up there. The Itty bitty clothes are easier to keep organized longer.
My hubby and I have been hard at work putting furniture together, finishing making and hanging decorations, and all that jazz. We love how it's turned out so far!
The curtains I made!
This tree branch with woodland animals is also going to act as a sort of underline to our LO's name, cut out of wooden letters and stained.
Sorry for all the pictures. I'm just really excited!
We have put together the crib and cleaned out the dresser and closet. The dresser has yet to be refinished. The walls need painted, as does the trim. The carpet needs steam cleaned. I'm getting frustrated because his parents are insisting on doing all the painting but they don't want to do it until october. I don't mean to be ungrateful, but I don't want to be 8 months pregnant finishing her room!
It's still "getting there". I need to finish my sewing projects and get that stuff out of here. Also still need to get the carpets cleaned but we need to wait until the master bathroom is done so we can get the whole house done at the same time.
@silverfrost All the foxes!! I've limited my fox obsession to some clothing for the baby....of course NOW dh mentions that he wouldn't mind if the nursery was fox themed...you know, after I'm basically finished! Love yours!
Love seeing everyone's nurseries! They are all so cute! It took us a long time to decide, but we're going with outer space as a theme. We spent the past few weekends painting and I'm so proud of how it turned out. Here's our constellation wall!
Love seeing everyone's nurseries coming together! I don't have a lot of picture updates yet, the crib is still not assembled because DH stole a piece of it and it's out at my in-laws to color match for the dresser staining. He has one dresser completely done and will be starting on the second one this week. But my mom has the curtains done (and I'll be picking them up when I go home for my shower in two weeks), and here is the M I ordered from Etsy for Mara's door (I highly recommend BrittaBell Boutique, by the way!):
We have the room empty minus the mattress my mom needs to come get, and the paint is bought! Scheduling carpet cleaning for this week or next and painting after that. Furniture moves in after the walls dry and I can start decorating! We need a dresser for ds room and to build his night stand and bed, but I'm so excited! Nov and oct are super busy months so I'm glad we finally got the ball rolling.
We have the room pretty much done, minus waiting on the glider to arrive and FIL to finish the crib. Dh needs to measure the inside of the closet so we can build an organization system for it. And I'm still waiting on a print of the NATEO alphabet that I ordered to arrive.
I made the curtains and decorated the lampshade. And we have a black and white print of the front of a Corsair that will go above the crib.
Finally got around to hanging some stuff on the walls and hanging the curtains Now I'm just waiting on putting the crib together and the lamp I ordered last week A butterfly picture I made from all the cards we've received for the baby.
Just need the changing pad! There were actually two drawers in the bottom and FI pulled them out, took out the drawer rolling mechanisms and put down contact paper. And I got all our cloth diapers prepped and the clothes we have so far folded and put away. Love it!
I've been in nursery overload lately...we still have to clean the carpets, clean the closet, put up the fan and get the crib together. It's coming on the 30th. But it's coming along! Excuse my little photo bomber. This is one of his many tough guy faces haha
Also, the girl already has about 75 headbands, that's what's hanging over her changing table. Yay for the perks of your bestie having a girl a year before you!
Wow! What amazing nurseries! I'm so impressed by the imagination and decorating skills! I'm super late to the thread, to be honest, our nursery won't be done until mid-November... At the earliest. I'm good at not going into labor. Lucas will really be in a bassinet in our room for the first few months, but I have started his room. It was our guest bedroom, I'm hoping to be done with guests as of today though. There is a nightstand and tall dresser that I've officially cleaned out and stocked with baby items. Unfortunately, the closet still has non-baby items in it. I'm planning on working on that next. We are also getting rid of 1 of the 2 full size beds, I'm keeping one in there so that I can sleep in there if I need to instead of taking him into bed with DH also. Or I can just take a nap in there when he does!
I have a big question, and I'd like honest opinions (I don't take easy offense). The wall color is like a warm-tan color. We just painted them about 2 years ago, and like the color because the room is kind of dark/colder than the rest in the house. But I can't think of a way that the color would work with a boy theme. DH wants to do navy blue and bright green, with white and grey. Would those go with the dark wood and color of the walls? I'm wondering if I should start looking at paint or if I can work with it.
Awe these are so cute! MAN I am WAY behind. I'm such a lazy mom this time around. We still have yet to do anything to DD's room to make space for the baby. Poor DD's closet isn't even hers because I've been keeping my wedding dress in there along with a huge box of books.
So far my nursery accomplishments involves making DH put *some* of DD's old toys in the attic, going through the box of books this weekend to sort the ones that can go in the attic too, pulling out the bassinet, and telling DH we need to sell one of the bookshelves in the room. I at least have grand plans of how things should be arranged, but we haven't bought a thing...not even a crib.
I figure DD2 will be sleeping in the bassinet in our room for a few months, so I am not rushing at all this time. Hopefully she'll have a space in the room by the time she's a teenager or something...
I have posted this before in this same thread, but I am the same as @linziloo09 at this point and haven't done anything. I went through a couple totes in the babies closet yesterday to downsize that... and get rid of old shoes and some old décor that I had from previous places I've lived (donations!). That was about it. It freed up some space on the floor! The upper shelves still have stuff on them, and the hanging bars still have coats and sweatshirts that don't fit anywhere else. Hopefully we'll be able to use dresser drawers for awhile, and move by the time he'll need the bars to hang stuff, ha, so we have more room somewhere else for those things.
I do love seeing these ideas though! We're not painting the walls (they're white right now), and the color scheme will be a navy, white and some other colors (maybe orange, browns - woodland/adventure theme) room. I'd like to start shopping for décor, but don't know where everything will be going so that's tough. What stinks is that 2 of the walls have a ledge, so there is only one wall that is just the wall and I am not sure what we'll have go by the ledge walls. They should have only done that on the wall where the window is, like the other room in the basement, but I guess that wasn't the design.

@Kacie209 - Maybe we'll get a move on things once that whole 'nesting' syndrome kicks in...I'm still waiting for it to kick in from my first pregnancy though.
@Kacie209 - Maybe we'll get a move on things once that whole 'nesting' syndrome kicks in...I'm still waiting for it to kick in from my first pregnancy though.
pfff. nope. I did get out the DS's too small clothes and sorted them and gave DD2be one of his dresser drawers. So we have things to put on her. But she'll be in our room for months and by that time I won't be pregnant and unwieldy so I'll figure whatever next move out then. The only other "baby prep" I have on my list is get some diaps. Unfortunately I also did not get the "nesting" motivation and energy with #1 and am not counting on it for #2.
@LinziLoo09 & @kacie209 I'm right there with you, and glad that I'm not alone! Our upstairs is still a construction zone. My goal is to set up her room over Thanksgiving weekend, which feels way too late. Reading this thread MOTN last night was a BAD idea - cue 3 hrs of anxious tossing and turning.
Add me to the party. Our "second bedroom" is storage and an office and houses DHs clothes in the closet. We have a hand me down changing table with bags of hand me down items shoved on the shelves and a crib that's not together, that we don't have a mattress for yet. No bureau, there isn't room and I have no idea what we'll do with this kids clothes. I'm hoping MIL will buy the crib mattress (she mentioned something about it). In reality the baby will sleep in our room for several months (in a bassinet that we don't have yet) and after that we are hopefully moving so I'm not going to put too much energy in.
@linziloo09 I actually have at least one day off from work each week from now until I go on leave (minus the last week in October), due to having to use all of my remaining vacation days for the year - last day of work should be the Friday before Thanksgiving if I can get the whole week of Thanksgiving off (and then start my 2 weeks covered by FMLA before EDD). But anyway... I am hoping with all of those days off, and how busy our weekends are until baby is due, I can "nest" and get things together a little better than they are now. Time will tell, and FTM here... so who knows.
We also need SIL to take the bed that's in that room for their oldest, and then move a dresser and night stand to a storage room above my FIL's office (it matches the stuff in our master, which is older than old and I'd like to just replace it all some day). Once those big items are out, that will help some. But, I think that will happen later than sooner... as DH's family is not the best at getting to things and DH doesn't seem concerned.
My goal is end of October to have that stuff out and more of the baby stuff in, so I can focus on that in November on days off. I also have 2 showers in October, and not sure where any bought items will go...

Add me to the party of haven't done anything yet. SIL sent the crib so I told DH we now need to start getting that room ready. And we need to do a trip to our storage unit and throw some things out I've been keeping from my old office. Since his big conference is this weekend I doubt anything is getting done anytime soon...

@yellingbanana A warm tan could work for a sunset sky over the desert and if you wanted to be literary you could do The Little Prince? If not, you could add camels, an oasis, etc.
@yellingbanana our master bedroom is light tan/brown/spring green with dark wood furniture and it's one of my favorite rooms in the house. I would not mix browns with grey, I feel like those are clashing colors
