Mini rant - MIL FB-messages DH every now and again (the only way she communicates with him other than in person). Their "conversations" are always super one-sided... all about her life. She never asks about DD (her only grandchild), DH or anything. So she messages DH last week to announce she and her bf impulsively bought a camper up north. Then tonight, messages again to talk about their camper, their day, friends they made and ends with their plans to stay through Labor Day. No questions about DD, no checking in on baby or to see how I'm holding up or how her son is doing. Just to share her plans to be out of town until well after baby comes with zero mention of wanting to visit baby or plans being flexible around baby's birth. I honestly don't care that she's not prioritizing a visit (she's not at all pleasant to be around) but it never ceases to amaze me how little effort she makes to be in our (specifically her grandchildren's) lives! I'm gonna be all over my kids as my future grandbabies are born. She's really missing out - whatevs, her loss.
@yellowrose314 Amelia is a beautiful name it's our little girl's name too! It was the only name we both loved and, even though I was dead set on another girl name before I got pregnant, once we found out, this LO just felt like an Amelia
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom I love that we'll have name twins!!! I really do love it, and even if I wasn't totally sold, the smile on DH's face when I brought it up would have sold me completely. He was like giddy he loves it so much.
Ah so frustrated! So my husbands work schedule changed in July but we already had tickets to see Sound of Music for tomorrow night. I've been trying since then to exchange them for sometime in the weekend so he could still go because he picked out the show and was really excited. Well a few weeks ago I made arrangements to switch for a Sunday matinee. Talked with the person several times via email and text. Well now here we are the week of the shows and the person who agreed to exchange has decided to just completely start ignoring me. That's fine if you changed your mind but you could have let me know and not just pretend you don't see any messages. So now I have to make arrangements for the kids for tomorrow night and find someone to go with me and my husband won't get to go.
I just got home from work, 2 kids in tow, and my dog has puked AND pooped in his kennel. Omg the stench. Meanwhile, my threenager is screaming to watch the minions and my 7 yr old is asking for homework help. I drag the whole kennel outside to hose off and it's about a million degrees (I'm in southwest, so it's 111). Sweating my a$$ off... Husband not home for at least another hour, damn. Wine is missed...
@hejo2016 that sounds horrible! At least the dog mess was confined to the kennel and not like that poor story of the roomba poop incident. i definitely also miss wine. And margaritas. And beer. Pretty much all alcohol.
@toimadness1, I totally thought of the Roomba incident! Ha! Small miracles. And now the dog is clean and kennel is sanitized... something good came of it
Ok guys, I'm sorry but I have to brag for a second here. With R&E I breastfed when I could but definitely got frustrated with not being able to keep my supply up, the fact that the kids didn't latch real well and that I had to use nipples shields. However, I tried to always feed them at the same time to keep them on the same schedule because, ya know, twins. So DH always had to be there to help me get them going. Otherwise it wasn't happening.
Between waiting for my milk to come in (so I was using a technique known as SNS to "nurse" O&J until then), having one kid in the NICU and the other one in my room and just not worrying as much about their schedules, I didn't attempt to BF them at the same time until today. I have to use nipples shields this time around too and thought there would be no way I could get them situated and the shields to stay put on my own. I don't know if it was 2nd time mom confidence, the fact that they're different kiddos, the fact that the lactation consultant at this hospital was fantastic or a combination but I was able to get them set all on my own and they nursed simultaneously for a good 15-20 minutes!! Feeling accomplished and very happy.
So I was using the bump as a table for a bowl of ice cream because you know why not. Oh man! Baby boy did not like that!! He gave me a nice flat spot moving away from the cold!
@lissvarna--congratulations! She is gorgeous! 2 vessel cord here too, so I have to say it's extra fun for me to see her doing great even as she is a little peanut, as you said. Enjoy those snuggles!
@lissvarna congrats! 2 vessel cord here also - I know how stressful it can be! Glad it all worked out for you even though the birth didn't go exactly as you planned. She's such a cutie!
I checked out for a couple of days due to this being my last week at work and it's like Oprah - everyone gets a baby! Congrats to all the new mommies and squishy babies, they're all adorable!!!!
@RG1 I've been working days covering some extra shifts at work and can't bump as much lol, all is well though. I signed my official induction paperwork yesterday and I'm going in Monday morning at 39 and 5 days!
Congratulations @lissvarna Hazel is absolutely beautiful with a name to match!

@AmMcc12 Ha, I did that last night on purpose to encourage baby to flip. I was recommended to put an ice pack on top of the bump so you know chocolate ice cream.
@jhems776 - that sounds like a great excuse for ice cream!
So last night was night 3 for DS in the toddler bed. The first 2 nights it took 1 1/2 hours to get him to actually lay in bed long enough to fall asleep, but then he slept through the night. Last night he climbed into bed pretty quickly but was very restless. It took about 45 minutes of rubbing his back, singing, and cuddles to get him to sleep. I was happy at the improvement, but he still remained restless throughout the night.
Less than 3 hours after putting him to bed, he starts crying. I didn't see him in bed on the monitor so I decided to go check on him and put him back to bed. I get in his room and don't see him anywhere. Before I could panic, the top of his head pokes out from under the bed! DH had to come in and help me lift the bed and pull DS out. How and why he got under the bed will always be a mystery - it isn't very high off the ground so it couldn't have been to easy to wriggle under there. After another 30-45 minutes, I got him back to sleep in his bed. Then 2 hours later he woke up. We watched on the monitor to see what he would do. He stood by his bed for a minute before quietly laying on the floor and going to sleep. He slept the rest bid the night on the floor.
Love seeing more babies, yay for Hazel @lissvarna !
I think I have finally hit my work-related "nesting" stride... I suddenly can't get enough done here... I don't want to sleep, I just want to update my case summaries and instructions for whatever younger lawyer is covering them *twitch* . When I finish, I will stop coming in to the office altogether. If I finish.
Now considering ice cream for breakfast..... thanks guys.
i have decided that I'm not going to leave the house much today in hopes of getting more things prepped for the babe. Wishful thinking with a 2yo who says "outside" about every other minute
@Megan324 Holy crap. I was just reading an article this morning about someone who had triplets that weighed 7 something, 6 something, and 5 something. She was carrying 20 pounds of baby. Blows my mind, I think 6ish pounds of baby feels like an awful lot. Mad props to our MOMs!
Hello all! Just caught up.. trying to think of responses at least to my tags. @jbscmama - I think this was answered already, but I just boil a tiny pot of water and throw in pacifiers for 5-10 minutes, then strain them and let them dry. Definitely want to squeeze the nipple part to make sure there's no more water in there after.
@RG1 - proud of you for meeting that goal!! Haha, my fitbit is still SUPER proud of me for now being a few pounds beyond my goal. I've always been an overachiever.
Emmett seemed to feel a bit better yesterday and we met up with a dozen other local mamas/babies for a going away party for one who's moving, he took a long nap and we played outside for most of the evening. Didn't hear him overnight on the monitor so assumed he slept well, but I heard him cough this morning and it didn't kick on the monitor.. kinda weird since it seems pretty sensitive otherwise. Anywho.. he was a hot mess all morning before daycare, just SO MANY TEARS. His whole body felt warm so I checked his temp and while he was worked up his rectal was 100.5 I think.. which isn't super alarming to me. I gave him a dose of Ibuprofen anyway (not something I'd do if he was home with me for the day, but since i can't monitor him at daycare I figured I'd give it to him anyways). Ugh, hoping his day turns around, not sure if he's super exhausted and we just never heard him or whaat's going on.. but this summer cold can GTFO any time now, we're all done with it (though before this morning he's been a champ, even asking for "Tissue?? nose? tissue?" instead of running and screaming any time I try to wipe his nose.. which is more his usual.
@Megan324 - right? I feel so bad for him.. it's really unlike him to be so tearful. I threw a bagel and some cream cheese in my lunch bag and nothing else because he lost it every time I put him down. Ugh, it was a rough morning. The transition at daycare included a lot of "noooooo!"s, but no real tears.. hoping he gets distracted and starts to enjoy the day. Now I sit here just staring at my phone afraid it will ring with daycare saying he's having an awful day. Checked with my husband, he's 100% available to leave work to get him if needed, so I need to get a lot done in case we think it's best to keep him home tomorrow too. Ugh.

@lissvarna congrats on your beautiful baby girl!
@marajay6 Reese has spent plenty of nights on the floor. As long as she's sleeping, I don't care where it is.

Pretty sure I saw someone in a Harry Potter robe (an adult) walking around on campus this morning.
