@LakeR2014 I think pregnancy massages are still enjoyable this close to the end. They focused on my hips as well as my back when I went about a month ago and it was great. The place I go to has you lay on your side with big pillows in front of you to prop your arm and leg on. I love it.
I just scheduled a hot stone pedicure at the pregnancy spa for Sunday and I can't wait. My feet are so swollen and my polish needs changing!

Thank you all for the well wishes for Emmett! I'm sure he'll be ok, this morning just really threw me off.. I hate leaving him at daycare after such a rough time but kids always surprise us and can do really well with a change of scenery, so hoping that's what happened!
It's after 1:30 here on the east coast and daycare never called for us to get him, so even if he was a cranky butt and made their day miserable, he mustn't have been too bad (they would have called us if he spiked a fever, etc).. and honestly, we pay enough for him to terrorize them every now and then. My husband worked 5-1:30 today, so he'll still get him at 4, but could grab him earlier if needed without us missing work. Thanks again!!!
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom - All is well with me! Sorry about my sudden absence - work along with a mild summer cold whomped my booty these last few days. We have a major event at work that starts on Sept 15th, and lately A LOT of work has been dumped on my plate, making it tough to stay caught up on TB! I promise, I'm trying to read everyone's posts, even if I'm not commenting as much I hope the next few weeks ease up workwise, but it doesn't look likely.
@PoodleDoodleOoo well, it's great to hear from you even if just in passing hope work eases up a bit! I can be cool and not say I (probably others too) miss you but I'm not known for being cool anyway!
@yellowrose314 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope you get to enjoy your day! A pampering day sounds so perfect right now.
Thanks everyone!! DH just made an awesome breakfast before he had to go to work, belgian waffles, and he even got sugar free maple syrup for my diabetic self and apparently baby girl loved it too because she has been jamming out since I stopped eating. Yummers @LakeR2014 I was wondering about that too. I really wanted to schedule it for today but they're all booked up And this weekend is going to be so busy; my sister will be here tomorrow, then baby shower on Sunday and on Tuesday we go to Vancouver so I can take my NCLEX exam (which I'm still freaking out about). I'm wondering if I should schedule it for Monday so I'm super relaxed for my exam, or wait until after when I can actually enjoy free time.
@yellowrose314 - when I think about my NAPLEX, I would not have enjoyed a massage the day before... I preferred just slowly reviewing some notes, looking up a few things, etc.. I can't imagine relaxing enough that day for it to be worth it.. or for the relaxation to carry over to exam day, but that's just me. I've also never had a massage, so I'm not sure why I felt the need to weigh in! bahahaha
@yellowrose314 I would personally schedule it for after the exam. I had to take 4+ for my teaching masters, and I would definitely not be getting the full benefit if I had scheduled something like a massage beforehand. I'd be too wound up trying to run last-minute review in my head or worrying about how much time I'd have left once I got home to finish prepping.
Re: Thyroid issues - Did anyone else get told that just after pregnancy women are more likely to develop issues with their thyroid? I'd never heard of that before but at my last appointment the nurse asked me if I wanted to be tested for thyroid problems after the baby was born and when I raised my eyebrow (I have no history of thyroid concerns in my family or in my own personal record) she said that new studies are showing increased postnatal risk and many doctors are beginning to recommend this test after birth.
I'm not going to do it personally, because after looking it up myself I don't feel like there's enough research to back up having it done "just because" but I thought I'd ask if anyone else has heard about this from their doctors.
Ok I have a MBF but it is Thursday so I'm putting it here. H got an email from a friend of a job posting, I really don't want him to apply. He was even encouraged by the head of the would be new job. He has only been at his job for a pinch over a year, this is really his first 'real' job (before that was his post-doc, and before that he was getting his PhD). The job he would apply for wouldn't really be much better in most aspects and it would be double the distance away. I doubt the new place would be flexible/understanding with all the potential baby things. I won't tell him not to apply but I'm not happy about it.
@Bibliobebe - I don't know if I'll have mine tested or not, can't remember if that's part of my practice's 6 week followup but I don't think so. I think it's a good screening to do if patients come in with certain complaints - if I have any sort of post-partum anxiety/depression this time I will ask for my thyroid to be tested as well just to be complete in my workup as depression is one of the symptoms of postpartum thyroiditis.
@jhems776 Ugh, that's annoying. Is he unhappy currently? I think taking commuting into consideration is huge. As is schedule flexibility, for both parents. Maybe you can just make sure he takes those into account in deciding to apply?
I shouldn't have complained about lack of baby movement yesterday because it's been non-stop today. I already have no attention span at work and the movements are painful/distracting. I'm getting so much done.
So my random for the day. Target was having a deal where you bought 100$ worth of diapers and got a 25$ gift card. So I bought the diapers with my gift card just to return them (kinda bad but whatever) They came in and I took them to Target today and apparently the ones I bought were also on sale bc even though I paid 50 per box I got 55 per box back.
Hello 35 free target dollars!
idk if this is bad to share but I'm stoked even though I feel a little guilty
So I'm sitting in the L&D waiting room waiting for a triage room. I had some vision issues earlier and now a headache that Tylenol isn't taking away. So they want to check things out to be safe. I really hope they decide to induce me lol. Not that I want anything to be wrong but I'm past 37 weeks, I'm miserable, and I hate coming to triage just to be sent home with the dreaded 24 hour urine jug!

@Megan324 - I feel like I've returned stuff (not intentionally) that had earned me a gift card and I ended up getting back the difference, not the full amount. Like buy a couple boxes of diapers that come to $40, get a $10 gift card, and if I end up returning the product I only get $30 back.. which was totally fine by me since I wasn't doing it with the intent of getting the gift card for free. Just surprised your Target didn't catch on...
I sincerely hope I remember my FFFC when tomorrow rolls around. That's what my life has come to.. having hilarious things happen and waiting for the right day to post it on The Bump.... 2 more weeks until maternity leave, just keep swimming just keep swimming.
@AnnaS930 I'm sorry to hear about your friends diagnosis. I was born without a thyroid gland, so I've never dealt with getting that diagnosis having lived with it all my life. I've been on Synthroid my whole life, very high doses (to the point where most pharmacists second guess the dosage and always want to double check it... so annoying). But as someone else said, once they get her levels in check with medication, she should stand as good a chance as any healthy woman to conceive and carry to term. My levels have been checked every 3 weeks throughout the pregnancy and after a little up and down at first, they eventually got in gear. I hope all the best for her!
@Bibliobebe I have heard that, there's more and more research coming out to support it. To be honest it does make sense, considering our metabolisms change in so many ways during pregnancy and with breast feeding, some women's bodies may not adapt and go back to normal regulation as quickly as others. Anecdotally, I have 2 friends that were diagnosed with very mild hypothyroidism after giving birth, one had to be on medication for about a year before her thyroid seemed to start producing the amount of hormones it did pre-pregnancy, and one is still on the synthroid, but only about 50 mcg/day. It's not particularly invasive to get your levels checked, just a blood test. But like you said, since research is still coming out it's still kind of up in the air as far as it being necessary to test for it PP.
@Sbrown721 - I've had the occasional coworker/my boss come over to my desk while I've had The Bump up, for a long time I had signatures to make sure there wouldn't be anything too weird on the screen. I always have that moment of contemplation, do I minimize quickly and seem really guilty or minimize casually and hope they don't see what was up while I try to act cool about it.. bahaha
@AnnaS930 Yes! Exactly! I had just gotten back from break and was out of breath walking in from the parking lot and just kind of zoned out on The Bump as I do these days and all of the sudden he was behind me haha! I chose to slowly click out.
re: people seeing you bumping. My dept. of 6 people have our own little building (I work in a weird downtown campus style) I literally hide nothing on my computer. I get more work done on time and my boss really likes me, so I watch Netflix on my phone and bump on my computer and no one says a damn word. I know I am pretty lucky!

@AnnaS930@Sbrown721 yes I do the "slow, casual click out"! I figure that most people don't look at your computer screen immediately if they come to talk to you, and clicking out immediately just seems way too suspicious. I count on people being way too self involved to really care what I'm doing!
My first three pressures have been 155/102, 158/91, and 161/94. I'm thinking it might be baby time! We'll see. Don't want to get my hopes up just yet.

It feels like every time my boss comes to my desk lately I have TB or baby clothes pulled up! She hasn't said anything yet, I'm hoping for pregnancy pity. Probably not fair of me, but oh well
@kosmo86 - us pharmacists here definitely get a pretty free ride in terms of what we do on our computers/phones as long as the work is getting done. We also have a helpdesk of technicians that get much less leniency. I have a coworker who plays games on his phone pretty much all day, and nothing is ever said about it
@Sarafuss hoping things go well with whatever baby's plans are! Glad you're giving us updates
My random (could probably go somewhere else but whatev) is that I've been feeling crazy pressure on my butt since last night. I just had a hormonal outburst--thanks, irritability--and have now been having mild contractions for about 20 minutes. They're barely there, which doesn't worry me, but they come and go consistently. Now laying down and drinking water to see if they go away, which I'm sure they will. But the butt-pressing is not fun!
@jhems776 What exactly are the pros of this new job?? With a new LO, an increased commute time sounds like a huge con unless the pay/benefits/longetivity are better.
I hope everyone's pregnancies have been going well during the final stretch!! Hang in there!
@abberson@frogdog06 He isn't unhappy, after being hired he realized he was low-balled though but the new job would only 'correct' that a little, not fully. The pro's would be he would be doing things closer to what he originally wanted to do, but I think that's really it. Con - besides stated, it's in DC (we live outside). He tried saying oh it will be only 15m more (my ass) and he would drive (hard to do that buddy with HOV during rush hour). I know the chances of him getting it are not super high but I'm just annoyed he would consider it with the timing and location. I have the follower carrier and had to move multiple times and have super commutes and things are finally good now. We finally both have good jobs, reasonable commutes, and just bought place, can't we just chill for a couple of years.
