@mrsvoorhees That story made me laugh. I can't imagine his thought process of sending that email! I used to be the health and safety rep for my work site. We didn't have AC and it would get really hot. This one girl decided it was too hot to wear her shoes. So I was like "look, I know it's hot in here but you need to wear your shoes" and she flung her arms up and was like "IM NOT WEARING THEM. MY FEET ARE SWEATING". I calmly told her that there could be many things on the floor since we work with kids- Legos, small toys, etc and she could hurt herself stepping on them and our clients are sometimes unpredictable and she might need to get up from the desk and run somewhere fast. She still wouldn't listen. So I was like "ok well either you can put them on or I need to tell our manager. Your choice!" And walked away. She put her shoes on. Like who thinks they don't need shoes at work?
@Megan324 I debated between putting this here and the GD thread, but decided to leave it here. Sad day for me... last night my sugar was 120 after Taco Bell. This has been the third or fourth high read in a row after having it. I kept making excuses (I didn't walk after, I had diet root beer with it, ect) but after last night there is no doubt it's actually the Taco Bell causing it. So no more until baby is here.
Luckily that's only 2 weeks from tomorrow, so I think I'll survive.
I'm so sorry! Thankfully 9/1 is very very close. They just opened a new Taco Bell WAY closer to my house so im totally going there for dinner. I'll be thinking of you
I googled "deep cleaning house" since everyone has this on their to do list and I've never heard of this before or know what it entails (I could assume what it entails since I'm not a total idiot but I just wanted to read an article). The first article that came up said to clean your microwave which made me laugh since my husband randomly decided to clean ours the other day. So some of our nesting is productive! Maybe not organizing our dresser but at least some things we've done were suggested online!
I'm at work and all I want to do is go home and eat chips and watch BIP. Also, @camichael84 has me craving Taco Bell now, but the only one remotely near me is in a food court in the mall. The struggle.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
My fiancé is a up for a promotion at work, supervising a different department that would be much less strain on him physically and also comes with a substantial pay raise. So if yall could throw some positive vibes out there for us that would be great We find out either tomorrow or Friday I think
@jensou Bright eyed and ready to see the world! She's precious! Congrats, mama!
Re: Deep Cleaning House
I'm definitely in nesting mode, and cleaning is happening on a tremendous scale... BUT I'm not spraying lysol on my baseboards or scrubbing my grout with a toothbrush or anything. Anyone else feel like at least a FEW home germs are good for baby's immune system?
That reminds me of the silly "Care.com" commercial I've been seeing lately where parents make excuses to their children about why their house is dirty. "Dog hair on the couch is a decorating choice" and "If you see dust bunnies under you bed, make friends!".
On another note: AC GUY IS FINALLY HERE TO FIX OUR UPSTAIRS AC! YEEEESSSSSSS! So much work can be done after this morning when the upstairs will finally be a few degrees cooler than hell.
@mrsvoorhees@rg1 as someone who defends large companies in lawsuits where the majority of our defense is based on their safety practices, I am very amused by your stories. Recent cases I've had - dude stuck his arm into a running conveyor belt in order to unjam it; chick stuck her arm into machine that makes chocolate. You can't make up stupid.
so I have been having the slight urge to nest but honestly am way too tired these days and will end up choosing a nap over laundry, cleaning etc.
i am totally grossed out by carpets so I usually get mine clean every 6 months. I found this guy who does an amazing job for a lot less money then his competitors. So I kept hiring him.
H is home this morning and the carpet guy comes and H answers the door. I'm sitting there talking to him telling him what I want done, blah blah blah. carpet guy goes to get his stuff out of the car.
h goes "you are never allowed to have him come to this house while your alone again" (he said this jokingly) i laugh and ask why? H: because that dude is too good lookin and one day he's gonna ask to steam your carpet.
Hahahaha I was dying. To be fair this guy is pretty good looking with tats all over his body. But it was fun seeing my husband squirm in a little jealousy. It's been a while.
RE potty training: We did the 3-day thing when DS1 was 2.5 and he was 90% on pee after that. Poop took a few more months and he would always just go in his underwear. He did fine through naps after a few months, but at 3, he still wears diapers overnight. He wakes up dry most mornings, and we were doing underwear for awhile, but the soaked sheets MOTN 1-2x/week weren't worth dealing with.
DS2 uses the potty often at home, but we haven't fully committed. I think I'll work on that after the baby comes since I'm worried he would regress anyways. I was hoping not to do 2 in diapers again, but hopefully it's just for a short period of time.
I really want to nest or even just keep up on the cleaning, but I am way too tired. Last night I flipped on DH that I couldn't even cook supper because the sink was overflowing and we had no clean pots. I think I was more irritated by the fact that I am expected to come home and cook immediately while I see him and the kids play. He felt bad and did all the dishes while I cooked. I felt guilty taking his time away from the kids, but damn it I don't want to do it all.
Ugh, I'm not sure if baby is moving enough today. And come to think of it, I'm not sure I felt much yesterday. Does suddenly realizing there's a body party protruding out of my belly count as a kick? (I have an appointment at 4:15 today so I'm just going to obsess until then.)
Oh hello, purple stretch marks across my boobs the last 3 weeks of pregnancy after religiously using Bio-Oil on my belly all pregnancy and not thinking of my boobs! How nice to see you!
@PSUBecky23 I consider protruding body parts a type of movement. I hope your LO does some grooving and shaking here soon so you're not fretting all day!
My random for this morning - I've gained 4.5 lbs in the past week. 2.5 of that has been in the last 2-3 days! I know my body is retaining water like crazy (I didn't have anywhere near this much swelling with DD) so I'm not so much concerned with the "weight" but whether or not that much in a short amount of time is normal/healthy. I'll definitely bring it up to my OB this afternoon but, to hold me over, has anyone experienced anything similar? If so, were your doctors concerned or was it nbd?
@PSUBecky23 I went through that exact same thought process yesterday before my appt. I can see her butt and elbow (maybe? something pointy) sticking way out, she had to move them that way right?
@jennm205 Since seeing my OB, I've gained 3 lbs every visit (usually every 2 weeks) but one time I was up 6 lbs. I had weighed myself that morning and knew I wasn't actually up THAT much but by the time I got to the appointment I had eaten lots, was wearing clothes, etc. I'm very lucky in that my OB has never mentioned anything about my weight so it's always been nbd. I hope it's the same for you!
Hugs @psubecky23. Does baby move if you poke at the protruding parts? I notice a lot less movement towards the end, once LO starts to engage. At least you have an appointment today though so your mind can be at ease in a few more hours.
@PSUBecky23 This happened to me last week and, to put it lightly, I was freaking out. Give it time and try your best to relax. I'm really glad you have an appointment today. That would've helped me a lot.
Thanks, ladies. I'm definitely feeling something here or there, just not what I'm used to. I know as they run out of room, the movements become less pronounced. Just lack of movements combined with my general all around misery and lack of sleep because of my threenager are making it a tougher than normal day.
Thanks @RG1. We'll see what OB says... My feet/ankles are huge today (worse than ever before) so, again, I'm sure that's a huge contributor to the numbers on the scale. I just freaked out a bit when I saw my feet and then the scale quantified the water retention! Hopefully the swelling isn't a concern. That my biggest question, since I know significant swelling is an indicator of other things.
@JennM205 I seem to go through cycles of a week or two I'll stay the same or maybe even lose a lb and then bam one week I'll be of 4-5 lbs at once and it sticks. I'm not really swollen except in my face so I think some of it has to do with my babies growth spurts. My dr has never said anything to me though!
Re: August Randoms!!!
I'm annoyed that got deleted. Seriously, she was bullied? Bull. Shit.

Right there with you on the threenager @psubecky23.
He didn't really do "terrible 2's", but my 2yo certainly is right now. Please say this means the threenager phase for him will be better?!
