I also had to have a blood draw bc my son had fifth disease (never heard of it) last week and apparently that can be bad for pregnant women. I haven't had any of the symptoms so not too worried, but wish I could have been more cautious with him when he was apparently contagious. He had a really high fever though and just wanted to cuddle...
I'm kind of hoping for a membrane sweep tomorrow, I had one with my first and labor started that night... I wonder if my dr will do it?
In my case, I have been 3cm and 50% for 3 weeks now, so she thinks I will do fine with the induction. I am also a STM, and the baby is measuring big. I'm torn on the idea, she seems to think that I'll do well with the induction, and I do like the idea of just being able to have an end date for work. I'm also nervous about letting the baby go too long if she's already measuring big, as I don't want that to be a potential complication. Right now its scheduled for 40w1d.
There's still a decent chance I could go into labor on my own, still have 5 more days.
@MissBuffalo Even though my preferences are different, if you are pushing back against induction and don't feel like they're listening to you, keep pushing! It is insane that your doctor would insist on inductions with no indications or any good medical reason -- or perhaps they are just failing to articulate the reason to you. Either way, I would schedule a call with your doctor and rehash this. I would use the same words you used here, "I don't want this and I feel like no one is listening to me," so that he or she knows to slow down and make sure you're on the same page.
We had a growth scan first thing this morning, and he is measuring big. His weight was estimated at just shy of 8lbs. Which, I am grateful for, given one of the drugs I've had to take can cause IUGR ... which he obviously doesn't have. They do also think he is very tall, which obviously they can't tell for sure, but the tech commented how long his long bones were - so hopefully that weight is ... spread out a little!
Last week the doctor said we would talk about induction this week, and look at sometime in week 39. I get there, and she wants me to go to 41. Knowing he is already nearly 8 lbs. With concerns of choleostasis (we've been monitoring my bile salts weekly, and while rising, they are still below the "danger" threshhold) knowing my gallbladder is causing me to be dehydrated from vomiting etc, and a recurrent UTI (likely from the combination of the diarrhea and dehydration)
I'm hysterical at this point. I've been hearing for the last few weeks from multiple doctors how dangerous some of the things we've been dealing with are, and how the risk picks up after 39 weeks. My MFM even said there was "no benefit to anyone to keep him in there after ... oh 38 and a half?" My husband was - thank goodness- able to be there with me, and he asked the doctor what about the recommendation from my MFM to induce at 39 weeks? My doctor says "Oh we try never to do that" and cites how due dates can be off by two weeks, so he could actually be 36 weeks at "38 weeks" and how important those last two weeks can be for brain development - especially regarding learning disabilities. So not only am I suffering for dubious benefit (so maybe he might not get a learning disability, or just in case we got his due date wrong...) - this may put little guy in danger.
I had a non stress test following my appointment, and about halfway through the doctor comes in and looks at the print out, and says "Hmmmmmm...."
About 10 minutes later she comes in and says "We're going to induce you on Tuesday - 39 and 1" - Okay great! That's our wedding anniversary, the one day we didn't really want him to come but at this point, PLEASE just get this baby out of me.
5 minutes after that the nurse comes back and takes me off the monitor - the doctor wants to see me in her office. She spoke to my MFM specialist we saw a couple weeks ago, and apparently the MFM doesn't want me going PAST 39 weeks, given everything going on. So we're inducing on Sunday.
The doctor cautioned me we may be looking at a multi day induction, since I am still only at 2cm. She said this might also raise the potential of a c section since my Bishops score was only at 4 or 5.
I'm feeling really unsteady after all this - first they wouldn't induce at 39-40 weeks, despite me begging now they won't even let me get to 39? (I asked if we could still wait until 39 or 39+1, and she said no, that wasn't a good idea.)
So 6am Sunday - here we go!

Thats sounds really stressful but I'm glad that everyone came to a decision that works.
I had my 37 week appointment today. Still 1cm and 70% effaced like last week. But baby dropped and her head is now low and engaged. I know this doesn't predict anything but at least it's something!
@Allisun85 that sounds like a lot. Prayers for you that the induction goes smoothly on Sunday. At least there's a light at the end of the tunnel!
Glad the docs got their sh!t together in time to schedule you for Sunday. Best of luck. We're all thinking of you!
@missbuffalo i am right there with you. I pushed back some and have an induction date of39 weeks but then called back because i felt uncomfortable with her reasoning (only GD). I want to know the latest we can wait and the inherent risk behind waiting. No weight issues and my numbers are always low. Of course it is Friday, so no one called back and i will have to wait until Monday. Ugh.
