@AnnaS930 My DH is being the same about a beerfest, although I'll only be 36 weeks, so a bit less likely. He asked if I'd be able to drive myself the 3 hours, though, because of some business travel right before. Well, maybe, but now I have visions of going into early labor on the road with no one else in the car... The consolation is that it's in my hometown, so at least once I'm there I'll be with my family. Depending on OB scheduling, maybe I'll go over early?
@LakeR2014 I was and am totally that couple. Death to inductions and epidurals and all things not "natural" has always been my motto when it comes to giving birth. See my UO.
Just need to vent--- my stepmom just posted a facebook post about how she can't believe anyone would vote for Hillary and that everyone she talks to has no idea why they would vote for Hillary. Spoken like a true Trump supporter. I will bite my tongue since I am having dinner with them Saturday. Hoping the just leave the politics at home!!!

@AnnaS930 Have you tried a little reverse psychology yet on your DH? Maybe try saying something like "Well OK...if you are fine with knowing you might miss the birth of your 2nd child since you will be out of town and feel your pregnant wife should be able to fend for herself and get someone to watch E...then I guess I can't change your mind." If he gets upset, you can add that "this is what it feels like you are saying to me when I express concern of you leaving me alone at 38 weeks pregnant."
I have a friend due on Monday and her OB told her not to travel more than 30 minutes alone by herself (starting at like week 36). Clearly we aren't meant to be left alone so close to due date and especially not with a toddler to take care of. And does he know that babies have been known to come sooner after the first time around?

@kosmo86 Oh no! I am totally feeling for you right now! I can't stand to have FB friends post support of Trump let alone my stepmom! I think you are right to vent but also to leave alone and pray nothing gets brought up at dinner. If she does, maybe you can find a way to change the subject, go to the restroom or fake not feeling well?

@blondie080300 - I like your approach. I've consciously tried so far not to say "I feel like you're being really selfish about this" because I stupidly have gone there far too often in the past (when it was me being selfish and just jealous of him going out with friends without me, etc.) but it is how I'm feeling. I did mention to him "If you do go, I'll have to see if my parents can come stay with me for the weekend because I really can't be here alone with Emmett if I need to get to the hospital" hoping that he'd see that it would look bad on him if I had to ask my parents to do this so he could go to a draft. I think he thought it was a good idea
@LakeR2014 I think it's great that they're preparing themselves to have an intervention-free birth. As mentioned above, mindset is a huge piece of it. The fact that they're taking a regular birthing class and not just the crunchy ones could mean that they really want to learn about all their options and possibilities so that's good. I'm not completely closed off to an epidural but I really want to be able to forego it and all interventions, if possible. We still took the regular class and then hypnobirthing separately. I used to be of the "give me all the epidurals as soon as I walk in" camp but my mindset has changed a lot. They might be a little early but I don't think they'll forget what they learn (hopefully!). Hey, I did the hospital tour at about 16 weeks!
Any time there's more than a couple comments on YellowRose's post, I have to open it, just in case she has an update mixed in among the comments. Can't stop thinking about her today. Also anxious for an update from @mom2adoodle

@blondie08300 yea I am pretty sure they know we fall on different sides of the political spectrum and they normally say nothing. I did brush up on some facts JIC lol. But I will probably just say "no politics at the dinner table" if the convo starts, but it does boil my blood a bit.

@kosmo86 - it's the perfect time to drop the line of "you're going to send me into labor with all of this politics talk. Let's choose a more relaxing topic"
We have a blanket ban on politics/current events at my in-laws' house. MIL's husband used to make our visits very unpleasant, but now that we only watch Food Network and HGTV and talk mostly about how his garden is doing, we get along much better!
It took a while for DS1 to fall asleep in his big boy bed, but he only woke up once for which I had to lay with him for like a minute, and then he woke up super happy at chatty at about 10 and came over to my room to get me. Success!
Sorry to hear about the mamas having rough nights last night . Blondie - make sure to take it easy today. I did a lot of bending over the other night working on the trim in the baby's room and felt awful the next day. No more bending for me.
My husband is on the opposite side of planning a trip. He has a hunting trip planned for October 6-10 on the other side of the state (5 hrs) and I keep reminding him that it's possible baby isn't going to be here until then (due 28th) or that baby won't be cleared to travel. I'm not sure if he is getting it or is just overly optimistic
@diagonalley - He wakes up at 10?!?! What is this wonderful unicorn of a child that you have?? I consider Emmett and excellent sleeper and he does 7:30-6/7am. Actually we have to have him up by 6:30 4 days a week for daycare, if only he could read a calendar and know that the other 3 days are free for sleeping in! hahaha
My DH suggested we go water skiing a few hours away at some point a few weeks from now. I had to remind him I have a child inside my belly and can't afford to go hours away (or have him go) at 38 weeks pregnant, much less climb a pair of water skis. His response? Well, we can go after. Another reminder: summer does end and we will have a newborn this fall. I hope he got it.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom - Ok, I just laughed out loud. Water skiing.. that is priceless. Sure.. just strap on a newborn and head out on the lake.. in the middle of September. No big deal!
These men.. at least I'm not alone. I've been told it a million times and even preached it myself.. a woman becomes a mom the moment she finds out she's pregnant, a man becomes a dad when the baby arrives. Even for baby #2, they still just don't fully grasp the coming baby.
@AnnaS930 yup! Seeing how others are getting similar things from their Hs, I think I'll bring it up again to make sure he got it. He suggested it last night after a friend told him. I hope my reasoning didn't go in one ear and out the other
Not trying to stir up any political debates, but DH just booked our tickets to DC for the Inauguration in January! We went to both of Obama's, so I'm excited to make this a regular thing (for Democratic presidents, at least). I'm also excited/nervous about the thought of bringing LO along for this. We're not bringing LO on our November wedding trip, but I'm hoping by January I'll be more comfortable with the idea of a lap-child. Just need to make sure I buy enough cold-weather clothes!

Can I ask what will happen if it's not a democrat?

@AnnaS930 We bought the tickets through Southwest, so we'll just cancel the flight and use the money some other time. We'll probably wait until November to book the hotel, which is fine since we usually stay somewhere further out on the Metro line anyway.
Ladies!!! My husband got out early from work and surprised me by dropping off fried pickles to me (my preggo craving) for lunch!!! I am in absolute pickle heaven right now. It came with a spicy sauce too - so good!
Word from pregnant coworker: Her shower is in a few weeks, a small brunch at her mother's house. MIL never gave a list of invitees. Invites went out last week. She has now texted coworker's mom the list of invitees and they are a bunch of her random coworkers, none of which my pregnant coworker knows.
They tried to tell MIL that invites already went out and she said "no problem, I already told them about it and will just photocopy my invite for them"
Pregnant coworker is beside herself in anger. It's half entertaining and half incredibly frustrating for her sake.
I am now the proud (??) owner of a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. I am one of those who just can't deal with having a mini van. I know it's dumb. I think this will give us the space we need and the sliding doors are definitely a perk. I just need time to adjust.
Yesterday morning, baby was not really moving. I had my 34 week appt, so they hooked me up for a NST. Baby's heart rate was hanging out in the 180's and up (typically this baby's heart rate is in the 150's). Eventually it came down. The nurse thought it was high, but once she had the doctor look at it, the doc determined the baseline yesterday was in the 160's and the 180's+ we're just longer periods of acceleration. Baby got the hiccups during the NST and you could hear them over the machine (well not the actual hiccups, but the thuds).
I'm packing up my girls and husband for a week long trip to the Ozarks. I'm bummed about missing out, but I hope to use this time alone to get a bunch of stuff done around the house and relax. After both girls getting a stomach virus this past week, I could use a break.
Hope you ladies have a good Friday! I'm also looking forward to updates from the two mamas currently in the hospital. Fingers crossed for good news.
DH texted me to tell me it's National Chicken Wings day. We've made plans for Buffalo Wild Wings tonight (half off wings today). Also, I'm irrationally excited about this because it's a food related "national holiday" that I can still pig out on with my GD.

I just saw this in FB and texted my husband to see if he'd pick up Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. I'm hungry already!
You guys, I have a couple hours to myself after work today. My husband is taking Reese to see MIL for her birthday. (And I'm a bitch who isn't going because I made the decision a long time ago that I will not make the effort with her until she makes the effort with us. Oh, well. She's lucky she has such an awesome son who is still willing to make the effort.) Anyway, I have no idea what to do with myself. Everything I think of involves spending money which I really shouldn't be doing because there are still several things we need for the baby. So, I guess it's home to binge on Netflix.
You guys are totally right about husbands just not getting it. And I thought H would be better since this is round 2. No. He's not.
Actual quotes, spoken earlier this week: "How come you get more pillows than me?" And "I only got six hours of sleep last night."
If I dropped something he's like "oh you dropped that." Thanks, wiz kid. I'm waiting until I drop the next thing before I bend over to pick it up so I can justify the effort. Or you know, you have a body that works.
@camichael84 - are a few fried cheese curds acceptable? I mean.. I would even eat the squeaky cheese without the breading if necessary. I wish I had a BWW closer.. and I don't even eat the wings.
GIVE ME ALL THE FRIED CHEESE AND PICKLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@AnnaS930 I don't know, but I will be checking out their carb content for sure. Surely they have to be better than fries or the buffalo chips, right???
@Megan324 Unrelated to BWW and fried cheese (which I love), but I had Taco Bell for lunch yesterday and it made me think of you.
It's also the first time it's given me a spike, and happened now that the latest insulin increase seems to be working. Boo. I'm hoping it's because I ate it pretty close to my snack, and not because of the Taco Bell itself.

A whole basket of cheese curds is 45 grams of carbs... seems like a decent option for a shared app to me? Although sharing is not my strong suit.
