Re: July Randoms Thread

  • So after DH and I bathed the poor pup who was skunked, the baby will no longer let me lay down. I swear it is almost like he smells the awful stench or something and has turned into the Hulk inside me. It was super uncomfortable being hunched over the tub/dog but I don't think I harmed him or anything...but now I literally have to stand in order to get my son to stop flipping out inside of me. I am currently sitting downstairs in the smelly hell that is my living room with my feet up, and he is still moving repeatedly (maybe the hiccups now?). Either way, this has never happened to me before. The movements when I am laying down actually hurt and caused me to cry. I couldn't find a single position that was comfortable and the baby would stop moving around. H is worried something bad happened while bathing the dog. But I wouldn't feel a ton of movement if that happened, right? It has been over an hour with him going crazy inside me. I am not sure what to do. Please tell me this is normal and just happens sometimes! I get a lot of  movements at times but this time his movements hurt and feels like he is trying to turn around completely or something. Bah. I feel like such a FTM tonight! LOL

@blondie080300 To ease your mind, I get very painful movements every night and he always moves from 930-11 pm constantly non stop. I'll see a butt/back move all the way to one side and look completely lopsided like it's going to explode out of my body and then he will almost "kick off" and move the other way. So that sounds like normal movements that I get. So even if it's not normal for your babe, it is for me so I think nothing to worry about!

ETA I changed my profile pic y'all! Hope it doesn't confuse you haha. I know I identify people by their pic

  • Thanks for the advice @AlwaysAuntNeverMom and @RedMar! I ended up swaying and walking around all over my house to try and calm baby down. It must have worked since I was able to get about 4 hours of sleep. I woke up a few times to a kick or two but I was able to change positions and go back to sleep. Such a weird night! Thanks for the support!

And @RG1 I'm sorry to read about your daily constant pain caused by baby movements!  :s After what I felt last night, I really feel for you if this is a daily occurrence! I wonder if this is a sign of what the next 7 weeks or so have in store for me. Oy....

  • @mom2adoodle sending positive vibes your way

My work is super casual dress code and I wear jeans and tee shirts every day. Apparently some clients are coming in all next week and they expect us to wear business casual all week. Even if I wasn't pregnant I would be pissed because I have worked here 6 years and don't really have business casual clothes. BUT I am pregnant and I am just going to have to wear jeans and tees next week. unless they want to take me shopping.

  • @mom2adoodle hoping for some good news for you this morning.

blondie080300 my dog has been sprayed. It's the worst. And the lingering smell. Ugh. We put bowls of vinegar all over our house to help absorb it.

  • @mom2adoodle Sending lots of positive vibes and thoughts to you.

@UnwritteN12 You seriously are amazing! I'm sending good thoughts that the babies won't have blood sugar problems or need NICU time.

  • @blondie080300 - I find that hunching over the bathtub is insanely taxing/exhausting.. and my bathee is much smaller than yours (your pup looks considerably larger than my 10 pound dog or 25 pound toddler). Movements are always super uncomfortable and WILD for me from 8-9pm, which is right after we do tubby time at our house, so perhaps that position gets them on the move, or makes our stomach ultra sensitive to the wild kicks/flips/olympics.

@mom2adoodle - Hoping the labs looked better this AM. Definitely packing my hospital bag this weekend, great reminder. Last time I packed super late and meant to toss in our toiletries before leaving for the hospital... but never did. Had to have my sister bring them the following day.. I just really wanted some coverup (which sounds super shallow.. but I broke a million tiny blood vessels in my face pushing and wanted to feel a bit more like myself with all of the pics being taken, visitors, etc).

  • @AnnaS930 it doesn't sound shallow. I packed makeup in my labor bag. I'm putting on false lashes when I go into labor so I'll enjoy the pictures. (I have short ultra blonde lashes that make it look like I don't have any lashes at all, or eyebrows!)

  • I saw my nightmare at the mall the other day. One family with a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 year old plus a 5 month old and she was pregnant. And they were all boys. Kudos to that family but there is no way i would have kept going after three kids in three years.

I'm definitely trying a little harder this time than I did last time. I was in the, "I'm giving birth, I don't need to look good" wagon, and I regret that because I hate the pictures of me in the hospital. Some of that is because I didn't sleep the entire night before I had her, but I think hair and makeup would've helped some.
  • @AnnaS930  That's really interesting about your post-bath time baby movements. He was definitely NOT happy inside me but only flared up when I tried laying down (not while bathing the pooch). I found myself Googling if a baby can smell skunk from inside the womb! :D I know I was being ridiculous but last night was definitely a first! And he is still pretty active this morning (albeit I am drinking Coke and had a cookie since I need to try and stay awake for work).

  • My pregnancy hair has been pretty cool.  It's all curly and wild and I just let it be, so I probably won't do anything to it for labor. Maybe a headband

  • @AnnaS930 I wish I could braid my own hair! I have been trying to grow my hair out to do something with it while in labor! At this point, a ponytail will suffice if hair grows just a smidge more...

Good luck with the caffeinated assault. I am supposed to be in the office but decided to "work" from home. I cleared most items from my schedule so I only have about 3 hours of stuff I have to get done. But otherwise, I need to stay awake until about 5-6pm since my entire team and bosses are off today and I agreed to be the back-up...not that I had a choice really. So at least I am still in my pj's but def feel like a smelly zombie right now.

@Megan324 and @MrsVoorhees LOL!  I was just thinking about that after reading the suggestions from @mom2adoodle (Sending good vibes to you and baby for good results this morning) on making sure the hospital bag was packed.   I'm definitely going to splurge for some cheapo makeup to just throw in there and keep in there for on the ready.   I'm not usually vain, but I definitely want to be able to look at the pictures of baby and me after birth, and I usually tend to look horrific when exhausted, so yea...makeup will be a thing in the bag.   Now whether or not I actually use it....that will be a last minute 'Do I have the energy or am I too lazy/focused on baby to do it?'
  • @LakeR2014 - Doing the same since I forgot my actual toiletries last time. Buying some cheap makeup and throwing my travel sized toothbrush, shampoo, etc into the bag this weekend. Doesn't need to be good stuff, just something!

  • @blondie080300 I know you're already had some responses, but I wanted to add my two cents this morning! Nighttime is definitely my baby's most active period, and sometimes those kicks definitely hit painful spots. Since you were unusually active and awake taking care of your pup, it's possible this is normal to you, too, but you're asleep and don't feel it!

  • @Jabreen That would be pretty wild if he is normally so active and I sleep right through it! :) I hope that continues to happen as now I am afraid we have hit a point where sleepless nights will begin...

@LakeR2014 Hooray for birthing classes and the motivation it brings to DH! :) Regarding the couple taking the class early, I think it is great that they are trying to learn what they can and prepare for a natural birth if that is what they want. Hopefully it gets stressed in the class that anything can happen and the birth will happen the way it is supposed to, but I think they are setting themselves up for success by doing whatever they can now to prepare for the birth they want. That is what I learned in my hypnobirthing class: When you change the way you view birth, the way you birth will change. It is important to know your options and what you can do to avoid induction if that's what you want (like me :) ). Obviously I know it could happen due to unforeseen factors, but I am seeing a midwife now, etc. and planning all natural induction methods first if it comes to that. Knowledge is power.
