Re: June/July IVF or FET

  • @Holzie Yay! So happy for you!
  • Loading the player...
  • @babylonghorn16 I cut out alcohol about 2 months ago. And I already don't do caffeine. My hubby was awesome and cut out alcohol with me until we did our retrieval.
  • @lilmissslp hope you're hanging in there this morning after the crappy news yesterday, Thinking of you
  • Thanks @mtpbadger. I'm having a pretty rough morning but it'll get better…

  • @lilmissslp I'm so sorry! I hope you can jump right into your next go at it with one of your frosties.
  • Hi ladies!  I had my first retrieval yesterday and feel sort of bloated today, but more crampy up into my rib area.  Is this normal?  23 eggs were retrieved and waiting for the call this am for an update.

@ashley3740 - welcome and congrats on so many eggs retrieved! being sore and crampy and bloated is a common symptom after the retrieval, especially when so many eggs were taken. Drink up on LOTS of gatorade and water and eat salty food and protein...people say that they really help with the bloat. Use a heating pad on the cramps and take whatever pain meds you're allowed to (would depend if you're doing a fresh transfer vs a FET, etc)...and rest up - don't do much for a couple days and you should be (hopefully!) feeling better soon!

    ETA: words are hard.
  • @ashley3740 congrats on a great number of eggs! I was crampy in my rib area as well, I also was crampy in my shoulder. I later read that you should stay proped up a little because all the fluid can travel up if you're laying down.
  • @ashley3740 glad your ER went well! 23 eggs is great! Hope you get a lot of embabies! I was crampy and felt a little difficulty breathing and finding a comfortable position when laying down. As pp mentioned, propping yourself up helps a lot as well as drinking plenty of gatorade and water! Heating pad is your bff. Hope you recover quickly!

    Surprise pregnancy!! Baby #2 due 10/11/18 <3
  • @wifeinraleigh28 I'm so happy you're finally triggering. I know it's been such a long road to get here with the delay in the trial. Smartwater was my best friend. I tried drinking Gatorade but I think it tastes horribly and I hated drinking so many calories but smart water is full of electrolytes without killing you on the sugar. Fx for lots of mature follies!

also my beta is on Tuesday, I'm one week down in the 2ww and am going crazy.
  • Thanks @wifeinraleigh28.  I'm so happy to hear that things are moving along smoothly for you. That's great that you have at least 17 mature follicles! My estrogen was 4800 which now seems very high! I hope your retrieval goes well on Friday.

I will continue to keep up with board because I want to see how things turn out for you all. Best of luck!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 - woo-hoo!! yay for trigger tonight! good luck with that shot, and glad that you were switched to lupron in addition to hcg to avoid ohss. hopefully tomorrow won't be uncomfortable and can't wait to hear how the ER goes on friday!
  • @wifeinraleigh28, congrats on trigger tonight!  Good luck with your ER on Friday.  Drink lots of Gatorade and Smartwater.  I drank more smartwater because I didn't want all of the sugar that came along with Gatorade and this is the first time there was no OHSS.

  • @AandDM2014 - good luck for today! FX and I can't wait to hear how it goes afterwards!

@wifeinraleigh28 - did your nurse advise you to drink the smartwater/gatorade and eat protein before the ER as well? (I remember a few weeks ago someone saying that they ate a (probably completely sodium-filled) burrito before her ER and even though they got lots of eggs, she didn't get OHSS...lol!) Also, what kind of protein/salty foods have you been eating/planning on eating? I'm so excited for you and I'm glad that you're more excited than nervous...I hope to be the same when mine finally happens!
  • @caseyw8784 Yes she said to do this yesterday and today.  I can't eat or drink anything after midnight tonight though so obviously I won't be eating anything just before my retrieval.  I remember @FatPony said she ate a breakfast burrito on the way to her retrieval and that she felt perfectly fine afterwards!  I'm not allowed though, or they said I would be given a leather strap to chew on instead of anesthesia lol.  We're bringing PB&J to the clinic for me to eat afterwards :)  Today I've been eating eggs and meatloaf, and we're planning to get Thai food for dinner.  I also have a protein bar to snack on while at work if needed.  And continuing to drink as much as possible.

@Holzie Your 2nd beta is very close to double.  I wonder if there is a range of test accuracy and what that range is.  Try to relax as best you can and keep stress at bay.  Perhaps that will help your little bean grow a little faster.
