No offense to any of you, but I'm so, so, not ready to join a fb group. My first kid was a year old before I did last time, and I was there on the board as soon as I found out I was pregnant. It took me seriously almost two years to warm up to everyone enough to give them my real name. It's not that I'm suspicious of anyone in particular, just everyone on the internet all the time.
Morning ladies - doing a quick read to see what I missed yesterday. I too, like someone else mentioned find the catfishing frightening and fascinating all at once. I cannot imagine someone investing that much time and energy in cultivating a facade.
An old coworker had her photos she posted while pregnant with her twins stolen and reused in an online forum by someone. She felt very violated by it when she found out and I have always been very cautious of what I share myself.
@MojieJo Two weeks?! Holy moly - that is coming up fast. What a crazy, exciting thought to meet your boys so soon
@JLmama118 I second the labour thread, it'll help to contain things and be useful info to FTM's (like me!) to see the real and fake symptoms, stories and such.
To to the ladies struggling with insomnia, I extend my condolences. I have struggled with insomnia for years and it's a horrible, human-zombie creating condition. Please don't hate me but surprisingly it's hasn't bothered me since my BFP. And...I probably jinxed myself by saying that. Hope you ladies get some well needed and deserved rest soon!
I am preparing my paperwork for HR for my leave, I can't believe that I'll be done work in about 5 or so weeks!? Time is FLYING by ladies!!!
@mrsvoorhees We at least know those who post HDBD pics are real. Or are they....
Not necessarily. There are people out there who find an insecure Facebook page with children and copy the photos and repost them as their own, pretending to be the parent of that child over an extended period of time The Internet is a effed up place.
It would be VERY EASY to google "30 weeks pregnant bump pic" and just post those in HDBD.
True true... I've seen many blogs with weekly pics someone could steal
I've must of missed the original catfish talk. But y'all are freaking me out now.
Both my social media accounts are private. Well now I'm going to triple check. But I do post my face on here in HDBD. are u guys talking about people stealing others pics and posting them as their own?
I would be more upset if it was a picture of my children. Damnit internet what happened to you. Take me back to my aim screen name and aol dial up *~*luv yas*~*muahz*~*
I really like the idea of starting a separate labor thread...we'll be seeing a lot of them otherwise.
@KimmySchmidt I feel you on the Facebook thing. Many people are super cautious when it comes to that. I am not generally one of those people, but I get it. We actually started one about this time with my last bmb, but it had certain requirements, like most of the admins had to recognize you, etc.
@Prof=Mom I saw that this morning about Melania essentially copying parts of Michelle's speech. If she's going to do it, at least she copied from one of the greats!
@MrsVoorhees Dang, that stinks. I hope your LO feels better soon and will drop off to sleep and give you at least a few hours.
Hopefully the Tylenol works. It very rarely doesn't. We call it "slipping her a mickey" because usually she passes right out within 30 minutes of giving it to her.
This is us with ibuprofen..She pretty much only gets it when teething, but it's like a magic sleeping elixir when paired with Hyland's teething tablets. We call it her fix because she treats both like they're candy. Says 'yum' while she takes it, and will run in all excited when we tell her it's time for them.
Also, one bottom canine broke through yesterday! Just waiting on the one on the other side and we've got them all except 2 year molars, and hopefully have a good break from teething!
@drmh22 - you're a Dec14er as well, right? Are you still in the big FB group over there? I was excited for how much easier it was going to be, but couldn't stand it after a couple months.. had a very different tone than our BMB had, a little too rainbows and unicorns for me. I do still keep in touch with about 20 mamas from the group that I was especially close to, similar to this randoms thread
April 13, there was a FB group started super early but that created all sorts of weird drama that I won't go into. The one I ended up in was started maybe a month before our babies were due and it's been awesome. It started with about 100 ladies and has been whittled down to maybe 70 (just people leaving who didn't want to be a part of the group) and it's been a great group. I definitely would've had some much tougher times as a mother without that group.
Ugh, you guys, it was a morning. (If I'm scaring any of the FTMs too much with my constant complaints about my threenager, I'm sorry. Tell me and I'll stop.) Got halfway out the door and realized it was water play at school so had to hustle my slowpoke back in the house to get her changed into her bathing suit and get a bag packed. Then get halfway down the driveway and she demands a vitamin which I give her every morning to entice her into the car, so I run back into the house for that. Then get halfway out of the neighborhood and she gets upset that we forgot her milk. By that time I wasn't going back. Cue tantrum. I had to carry her into school kicking and screaming and then pry her off me and hand her off to a teacher. Ugh, the worst.
With all the baby talk about pre-term labor and those who've thankfully had it stopped, I had a panic moment this morning. I seriously thought I lost my mucus plug...and not really sure I didn't (it was either mucus plug or really big remnants of fun times), will check at OB appointment tomorrow. But my immediate thought after I was all 'NOOOO I'm not even 32 weeks yet,' was 'OMG, we have NOTHING ready.' And when I mean nothing, I mean the only thing we have done is that we just washed all the clothes we've gotten (so cute!), but we do not have the crib built, do not have a stroller or carseat yet (shower is in 3 weeks)....so yea, I'm on a bit of full-on panic mode.
Been trying to actually catch up on this thread and finally did it! But not well enough to comment on everything. Sorry to all the preterm labor scares, hope babies keep baking for a while. I have started getting my "oh wow you have two months left!" and "you look so big!", for some reason I was thinking I could escape those comments, not a fan. I never respond right, I want to say "oh I guess you don't know much about pregnancy, I look great." but end up just nodding. Yep, what is up with people not being nice to pregnant women. I always knew you should be and way but man I get it now, this is hard and I need help.
My randoms: my wardrobe is really getting scarce, I've been putting off shopping because you know only two more months. I guess how my mirrors are at home I really haven't seen much from my bellybutton to my mid thighs in a while, yea that wasn't a pleasant sight could have just not seen that part till after. I have so many under bump stretch marks already, thought there were just a couple small ones. Only ended up with two dresses I can't even wear to work but they were cheap, eh. Work is business casual, not sure how I'm going to make it till the end without more work clothes, going to try.
Good random, my MIL is going to buy us a glider and ottoman. I kept finding ones I like in the price range that were out of stock. Finally one came in, I put off buying for a day and a half the price went up 20, so I was mad and waited, then went out of stock again, then in stock the next day and then dropped 50. So for the first time my procrastination saved me money!
@LakeR2014 I don't think it's out of the ordinary for you to lose some and for it to regrow? (I don't know if that's the right term) from here on out. I hear ya on the not having anything ready...my first came at 34 weeks (the day after my shower...our cars were literally packed with stuff when we went to the hospital) and you'd think I'd be more prepared (or I guess at least starting to be) at this point than I am. Time to get moving!
@PSUBecky23 Love tit in threenager solidarity. Meals are our struggle lately. It takes all I have to stay calm.
@jhems776 I work from home now, but at the end of my last pregnancy I was wearing the same few things to the office on a regular basis. Mostly black pants and a black cardi and a few different shirts. I also got more casual than normal just to wear clean clothes. It happens.
Its only Tuesday. How has this week lasted so long already.
I bought prenatals at target this weekend, there are 90 in the bottle to last 45 days. I looked at my husband and said "There's a deal on 2.. but I'm pretty much down to 1 bottle needed!" Holy guacamole! (51 days left to due date when I bought them).. I bought 2, I'll keep on taking them after birth whether I breastfeed or not. Time just keeps on flying, it'll slow down for the last month, right? It'll be like a crawl through August?
In addition to the above haiku, I'd also like to give you all a short list of randoms:
1. @AnnaS930 I love Rick Charette and I wished with every ounce of my being that I could be at Clam Fest last weekend! 2. @MrsVoorhees I'm still a little upset that you hated Breaking Bad so much (oh, and I'm also still rooting for you and that 3 hour glucose test!!) 3. I'm team pink, Friday ticker change. 4. Hypothetically speaking (since I have no personal experience with this type of thing), being banned sucks. Especially when you are banned suddenly without warning, and without any obvious reason for doing so. And ESPECIALLY when you contact TB asking for clarification and you get no response. Nothing. Nada. Silence. You know, hypothetically. 5. I secretly want to marry Jon Snow, and now at least we have something in common. 6. If I don't have anything nice to say, I won't say anything at all. 7. There's been a lot of drama in the past few days! I must stay away from those threads, and for everyone else just please be careful what you say because that ban hammer comes down QUICKLY and ruthlessly. Hiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!
I've must of missed the original catfish talk. But y'all are freaking me out now.

This was an old catfish from Oct 14, so there haven't been any on our board that we know of! Unless it's you...I'm suspicious of everyone now...
I was like "what is this notification of some random chick from Whoville tagging me in the Randoms thread. Then I read the name more carefully and rushed on over! Happy dance!!! Happy dance!!
The clams were plentiful, the fries were hot and salty and the Lime Rickeys were perfectly refreshing! Get that little babe up for the Clam Fest next year!
@AnnaS930 sounds heavenly!! I think we'll have to make the trip!
Also, I just realized I'm coming in right in the middle of all this catfish talk and I just want to assure you all that I'm REAL! Just misunderstood and silenced briefly. I'm not a catfish, I promise. Also, Cindy Lou Who's picture fits me better anyway

H and I watch The Grinch every Christmas! And we always call roast beef, "roast beast".
@MrsVoorhees - As you absolutely should, on both accounts. On my last BMB when I announced that we'd be naming our son Emmett, a few girls said it reminded them of "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas" which I had never heard of.. a children's book turned into a Jim Henson special from the 70s! We obviously bought it for him for his first Christmas and have made it our little tradition!
We also do a Christmas Eve box with a new movie, a Christmas PJ to wear that night, and a special snack/treat. I figure if we're talking Halloween costumes I might as well steam on ahead to Christmas!
I'm in no way down-playing the fear when you haven't felt a lot of baby movement, but pregnant coworker just IMed me at work to say that she's panicking because when she does kick counts she's never felt "30 in an hour" and "that's what google said she should expect"
@AnnaS930 we are starting the Christmas Eve box this year too! But ours will be a Christmas Eve's Eve box because we were impatient children and my parents always let us open gifts on Chridtmas Eve. Maybe we had impatient parents too?

Growing up, we were always allowed to open gifts on Christmas Eve too!!!! Actually, we usually went to my memere's house for Christmas Eve and were allowed to open 1 gift the night before going.. so that was a Christmas Eve Eve gift My husband is Jewish, so since he didn't grow up celebrating Christmas he lets me make all of the rules... which is dangerous. The second I buy someone a gift, or see one with my name on it - I want them opened immediately!! Zero gift patience, and still a peeker as I near my 30s
@AnnaS930 We do the Christmas Eve box, too! I've already been trying to decide which movie to get this year. I've always loved "Mickey's Christmas Carol", so that's a strong contender. Last year was easy... she was on a Shrek kick, so we got Shrek the Halls (as well as three other DreamWorks Christmas specials... it was a boxed set).
@MrsVoorhees Sorry about the fasting your doing right now. Treat yo self after your last draw!

Oy.
Well, if Google said that, it must be true!!!
This is why I don't do kick counts, btw. Just being aware of movement reassures me all is well. My first wasn't much of a mover, and if I'd counted with her, I would have been constantly freaked out.
