I just had McKenna when the July catfish happened, so I knew it occurred, but never followed it. When my kid goes to bed for the night, that is going to be my evening reading material. I have no shame in admitting that kind of drama is entertaining to me.
That said, I'd rather not be on a board with a catfish. Reading it is different than experiencing it.
Also, I feel like someone mentioned a catfish recently that turned out to be a high schooler pretending her sibling twins were hers? (Not sure if that was this catfish or a new one. Also not sure if I read that on our board or while lurking on another BMB.)
One of my best friends has a fake FB that she made like 7 years ago to creep on her sisters boyfriend. Anyway long story short. She doesn't talk to anyone on the page but it randomly like blew up and this fake fb has like 2k friends and people really think she is real. Which I've always thought was a hoot because it's SO OBVIOUSLY fake. There are like 7 pics and they are all different girls. but my friend doesn't catfish anyone with it. She just creeps on people.
ETA: I realize this still is weird and not okay but if you knew my friend you would know she is totally harmless with it
I was out running errands all morning and came to work only to refresh this page for an hour or two. I am useless, yet entertained.
ETA @RG1 I would think you can all rest assured that at least those of us who post unflattering bathroom selfies are real. Personally, I would pick someone preternaturally photogenic who had lots of friends to impersonate.

Had a little scare this morning. Feeling relatively normal, back pain (normal) and a little cramping / pressure lower down but I didn't think much of it. Well, tmi but I noticed a bit of blood when I used the restroom so I was a little concerned. Called the OB and explained what was happening and they wanted to see me. They took a urine sample which was clean and had no blood in it. They also did some cervical checks and swabs. She said my cervix is still thick and I'm not dilated which is good. They'll send my swab to check for infections etc, she checked the heartbeat and everything seemed good - baby kicked the Doppler pretty good as she was checking. Ha. I was told that I should keep an eye on what's going on and call again if I notice more discharge, blood or cramps that are timeable. Glad I called and am happy there doesn't seem to be any issues or preterm labor so I'm happy I've got the rest of the day to rest.
I was also able to put my mind at ease about another symptom I've had so I'm happy not to worry about that anymore.
Thanks @megan324@fireflygirl12@unwritten12 happy there's nothing concerning at this time. The blood freaked me out. Then I was like, "is it possible I just don't know what to expect for contractions etc?" Well I certainly don't, but I'd like to think I would be able to tell! The OB office was on alert as someone came in last week at 27 weeks and had her baby that day...eek! I want to meet my little girl, but not yet.
Is anyone else super intrigued by the people who decide to become catfish? Haha not condoning the behavior at all but feeling the amalgamation of weirded out and fascinated. We need someone to interview TB catfish!
Regarding HDBD pics, I don't think that is proof of not being a catfish. It's easy to steal pics online and repost them as your own. But I also agree with @jas1982. I'd be picking more flattering pics if I was a catfish than the ones I actually take of myself.
@mrsvoorhees I think it must have been, though I'm not sure. As crazy as this sounds, I had DH look to make sure it was nothing external just to be sure. Lol. Awkward, but wanted to be sure before I called the doctor. It was pretty light so I have no idea what it could be!
Last night FI was having bonding time with the baby and he did this thing where he put his hand on where the babys head is and where his little butt is and FI told me he focused his energy and imagined the baby kicking, well right on cue the baby kicked me so hard I literally yelled. We thought it was a coincidence but he re-tried 2x and both times the baby kicked me wicked hard , right on command.
I still think it was a coincidence but still, it was a cool moment. FI really feels connected to our son
@jas1982 oh he def felt awkward for the first few times but now its becoming more normal. I usually will read or scroll on my phone to give them "privacy" and I think that has helped.
@megan324 I don't think it is a coincidence! I actually do this all the time, especially if I have noticed she hasn't moved in a while. Sometimes I just run my belly with just the slightest pressure and within 30 seconds she starts moving!

My DH definitely feels weird talking to the belly. He says he doesn't know what to say but I don't know if he's embarrassed because I'm listening so I try to look away and focus on my phone. Baby girl moves soooooo much now, so our favorite thing to do at night is just watch the belly get all pointy and flat with tiny limbs everywhere. She gets the hiccups a lot (like right this moment, for example) but we both finally felt them from the outside this weekend. It's so fun and exciting!
I'm just throwing this out there....and maybe it's just because I'm super self-conscious and self-aware right now, I don't know. I'm feeling like a side-show in a carnival right now. My belly is so huge that I think people get scared. I mean, guys especially. They'll see me and then, once they realize I have a belly, they just hop right out of my way. And going down the stairs in the atrium at work? Oh forget it. I've see people looking at me. And no one is going to run to catch my big fat pregnant butt! Ugh. I just feel like a spectacle. It's one of those days.
@reesaXden Just catching up and saw your post! I'm glad they were able to get things under control, but I can't imagine how scary that must have been (and continues to be)!
I really hope the medicine continues to work and baby girl cooks as long as possible.
@UnwritteN12 Im sure it's just something you're self conscious of so you assume that's what they're thinking. You never look like a spectacle in your HDBD pics!!
I remember reading that catfish thread shortly after it went down. After all of that I changed my username to something less recognizable and I don't post any face shots of myself or my kids anywhere here. It's just too public. A birth announcement with a picture of baby may be the only exception but I'll decide when the time comes.
@UnwritteN12 aw! don't get down on yourself! I like that your bump commands respect! I actually had the opposite response to my bump and it pissed me the eff off. I was walking down the stairs of crate and barrel very very slowly, holding on to the rail and holding my dog's leash with the other hand. Some jerk of a man starts coming up the stairs and does NOT move out of my way whatsoever even though I am clearly pregnant, walking slowly, trying to be careful and have a dog with me! I had to let go of the rail and move out of HIS way before he mowed me down. I was livid and didn't even formulate words to say that would convey my disgust in him. Ugh! Give me some of your bump powers!
@mom2adoodle it makes me so mad when men specifically assume you need to get out of their paths. It's like mansplaining or manspreading. I deserve this space as much as you do, pal (and probably more than you do, when off-balance and in a delicate $%# condition).
@JLmama118 and others - I have never worried much about posting identifying information online... maybe I should!
ETA punctuation and necessary words. Brain not functioning.
@jas1982 Ew, I didn't even attribute his behavior to him thinking he deserved the space more than I did. I thought it was him being a completely repugnant human being but you're probably right! Now I'm even more upset! LOL when I told DH he was flabbergasted and said I should've said something but what can I say? "Move it, as*hole?" lol I need to be better prepared next time.
I'm super paranoid about posting personal info online. With social media, I don't even like posting where I am at any given moment or pictures of my house, I'm a little extreme haha.
I don't like to let on where I live, my face or anything like our last name on message boards typically. This board is different for me because I feel we're a tight group but you never know who's lurking on the other side of the computer/phone.
Oh my I knew that a certain someone would comment on the disgusted thread lol. She always has something to say about the "controversial" topics and then leaves
Ok because I've been reading here and there throughout the day I can't remember who exactly I want to tag but I hope everyone who's been having contractions or scares, little ones decide to stay put for several more weeks at least. I also hope everyone's feeling better!!
@mom2adoodle what a jerk that guy was. I would have just stopped and started saying "excuse me" until he got the point. On a similar train I was leaving Walmart yesterday, holding my 17 month old as well as our bags and dropped my keys. A family of four literally stopped to watch me struggle to pick them up. Didn't offer help. Just stopped to watch me, then walked off after I finally picked them up. The rudeness of some people out there is astounding sometimes!

Regarding the cat fishing, honestly, it's one of the reasons I never post identifying information and don't post pics on HDBD. I also am not sure if I'll post a pic with a birth announcement because DH and I are really cognizant of letting our child control their own social media and internet presence when they're old enough.
