I had so much mom guilt while pregnant and also right after DS2 was born @drmh22. They are 18mo apart, and while they do a fair amount of fighting, they are totally BFFs. Wesley doesn't even remember pre-Owen days.
@fireflygirl12 I like Ruby. And I loved the quote from your #1, I've been worried about DD's reaction to this new guy!
I ask Siri "how many days until sept 19?" on a regular basis. It's her most used function besides setting a timer for two minutes to finish playing or bath time!
I'm not doing lunch meats but basically because it's one of the "forbidden" foods that I'm not craving. I had some reheated one some months ago and it tasted like fish to me, so major aversion there.
I stopped caring pretty early on about the foods with egg yolks. Our late night snack is almost always ice cream and, after eating it for months, I read the ingredients and saw there's egg yolks in all the ones we've been having. I ain't giving up the ice cream so who cares. I went to the grocery store after you ladies talked about how Caesar is a no-no a few months back (I didn't know) and saw that most of my favorite dressings also have egg yolks like the Caesar does.
@alwatsauntnevermom - i think most store-bought products likely use pasteurized eggs, so you're probably good regardless of whether or not the eggs are there.
I'm supposed to go camping this weekend and it's going to reach the 90s. The campsite is about 1.5 hours away (maybe less) from home, so there's a good chance I'll stop by in the AM, make an appearance to appease the in-laws, and bounce by noon to someplace with glorious AC.
@CindyLouWho427 welcome to our Friday ticker change group - you'll fit in great
@abberson love the timer idea! Def going to steal that from you. Has anyone else noticed that when they potty train their toddler that they develop an alter ego and can be a real gem at times? I was unaware with the amount of independence would come with using the toilet.
@camichael84 the 6th is my earliest due date but I go with the 9th as that was the last one that was given to me. Holy moly 49 dayssssssss!! Which is also the gestational period for a European badger... Haha definitely googled this @megan324
Don't get my started on independent toddlers and potty training. My kid is going to college in diapers. No annoyance/bitterness/anger at all over here.
I don't understand why it was shut down. Sure some of the opinions were pretty outrageous but the whole thread it was still pretty tame/respectful considering.
@PSUBecky23 I wasn't surprised based on the other posts I've seen shut down lately. They kind of rule with an iron fist, and any ongoing conflict gets shut down.
@Mojiejo - I love that they already have their own personalities in-utero!
@fireflygirl12 - I'm digging Penelope (with Ruby as a close second). I wonder what her nickname would be though. When I pick out a name, I have to have a nickname to go with it....maybe just me.
@fireflygirl12 - i wish we could get rid of a lot of the auto-bump pinned posts. Like the "exciting new products from the bump" and what not. It's annoying that it takes up like half the front page, especially on mobile!
@UnwritteN12 I think the usual nickname for Penelope is Penny. I actually love this name AND nickname and it was in the running for girls names for us, but a good friend of mine had a little girl in January and named her Penelope so now it's out. Oh well!
Ruby is beautiful too, though. I believe Beebee is a nickname for Ruby? I think I'd just use Ru!
@unwritten12 I think Penelope would likely be nn Penny. I would probably end up using Rubes, Roob, Roo, Ruby Doo or something along those lines with Ruby, but she would likely just go by Ruby at school and such. I was leaning toward Ruby Quinn b/c I like RubyQ, but not really in love with Quinn.
I also really like Juliet for a potential MN (would be FN option, but BFF has a Julie). But does Ruby Juliet sound a lot like Rudy Giuliani? It's the first thing I thought of for some reason.
I'm all for starting a separate labor thread, but can we PLEASE un-pin some of the old stuff? Or does it just bother me?
I would be fine if everything except the birth thread was unpinned. Everything else is just taking up space on the front page, and means I have to scroll down to get to the real threads.
Eta: I wouldn't go to Rudy Giuliani from Ruby Juliet.
@fireflygirl112 LOL! I seriously doubt that you'd have to worry about that. I can think of a number of kids I grew up with who had names that rhymed with something silly or body-related and they never got called those things.
And anyway, if there's a rude kid that wants to be malicious they will be regardless of the name. Bullies can get pretty creative. So best not to worry about it!
I finally won a small battle with DH. He wanted so badly to nickname our son J.C. and I kept telling him how much I hated the nickname. Finally one day I told him that he could call the baby J.C. but it would be his job to make sure that NONE of his family called him that, because it's not his name and I don't want him thinking it is. I believe the pain-in-the-butt nature of having to tell his family "only I can call him this" wore him down and we agreed on something else. THANKFULLY.
OMG seriously....can I just blame not thinking of that on pregnancy brain?? Thank you guys!! Definitely a vote for Penelope/Penny.
@fireflygirl12 - I get where your DH is coming from on "Ruby Booby"....I'm genuinely concerned that someone someday might call DD "Smelly-Elle". Not that she smells, but kids suck and can be super mean.
Random - I just ordered my breast pump. Huh. I've been counting down for weeks. But what makes it seem suddenly real is ordering the breast pump. Yikes!
So...someone purchased the nursery bedding set (woohoo!). It comes with the quilt, crib sheet, bed skirt and diaper stacker. I highly doubt I will have any use for the diaper stacker and I have no clue what to do with the quilt until the child is old enough to use it. It's a really pretty forest-themed quilt. What are you ladies doing with your quilts if you purchased a bedding set?
@fireflygirl12 Ruby Booby made me chuckle out loud... but I really don't think that's a major cause for concern!
Also, Ruby Juliet in no way made me think of Rudy G... maybe if you're from NY it would, but elsewhere I wouldn't think so? And even if in NY, I don't think it sounds enough like it that people would constantly make that association.
@PSUBecky23 That's what I was thinking! We may be moving in the spring so we are leaving the walls white and just decorating a bunch instead and the quilt would take up a lot of wall space!
@Sbrown721 I'm planning on draping mine over the chair in the nursery. Others will likely be in use for tucking LO in when in the bouncer or car seat (after buckling and not tucked under, of course!) Otherwise, probably in the closet with the rest of the baby linens. I already have a lot of blankets to store there...
@sbrown721 we only use a crib sheet until 2ish, so I don't even register for the full sets. Both kids are in toddler bed now, but DS1 prefers a fleece blanket and DS2 had an A+A blanket that stays on for all of like 10min. I would probably just use it for decor and maybe save for when they're bigger.
@Sbrown721 like @Jabreen mine will likely go over the rocker in the nursery. My sister put hers on the wall and it's still there 8 years later! Super cute decoration.
@marajay6 are we from the same town? The same thing is happening here. I woke up to the smell of gas and checked everything and couldn't find the source. Well, when my husband walked out for work I realized it was coming from outside. After digging around I found the same info you posted.
@Sbrown721 - Like @PSUBecky23 suggested, we hung them on the wall. A word of caution though - in my frazzled state of mind I never considered that, as they became mobile, the kids might be able to pull them off of the wall. I probably stepped on a tack or two once they got pulled down.

I just HAD to be the FTM with the expensive bedding set who would only use 50% of it!
(Stuck in a box) I am pro-deli meat and eat sushi (even the raw stuff) more than I care to admit but for some reason, I am anti raw cookie dough... But I never eat that even when not pregnant.
i had my oh sh*t moment today. I have to start planning for life with 4 kids... I need to organize my van, do a new budget, menu plan, school supply shop, among MANY other things. I need to feel a little prepared for the chaos that is about to ensue.
@fireflygirl12 I love love love the name Ruby. We had the sweetest little girl at my daycare and her name was Ruby. I think it sounds the nicest with your boys names, not that that matters.

At least someone with sense got the last word in. I recognize that I'm juvenile for caring who the last word belonged to. I blame my hormones.
