I won't have one until between 18 and 20 weeks. I can't wait!
Are you guys doing the 4D ultrasounds? I had planned to, since a long-time friend owns a little boutique. Since then, I've read several articles cautioning against non-medical ultrasounds. These articles were written by sources that I had expected to be all for any kind of exam. Now, I'm thinking twice and plan to research a bit more.
*The articles don't say something is likely to go wrong. It just says there's not a lot of evidence that it's safe when done outside of a medical center, and some I've read blame ultrasounds for autism. After the vaccination scares, I'm hesitant to believe that part.
@MollyandD - I didn't go anywhere special for my last pregnancy, they did 4D for a few pics for me at the regular ultrasound appojntment. Can't hurt to just ask the tech if they can do that for you and not go anywhere extra.
ETA--it's gonna be hard to see everyone post these cuz I'm stuck waiting till the end of the first week of August! Ugh!
I'm seeing these early US pics and wondering how early a heartbeat is detectable. I won't have an US until 8/2 and should be 7w4d at that point. I'm just wondering if I should get my hopes up to see a heart beat... It didn't do me any good in the past to get my hopes up.
Eeek I can't believe people are having ultra sounds already! I have my first appt on 6w4d but I doubt I'll have an ultra sound that day. I have no idea what to expect!
I love this thread. Please post all the little littles, I will be living vicariously through you guys till 8/1

First US, about 4 hours ago - we're 5wk+1 today. I didn't even realize I was getting one today, nor did I realize my doctor had someone covering for her today. So my first OB appointment went MUCH quicker than I anticipated, since the covering doctor didn't really speak English I got the important info though - "sicher schwanger!" ("definitely pregnant!") and "nur ein mal" ("only one"). Also, "kein Sushi, Alkohol, roh Fleisch, Droge..." ("no sushi, alcohol, raw meat, drugs..."

My practice does a "confirmation" appt first before prenatal well appts start. (they bill this as gyno, Then bill all the prenatal appts together as one claim to insurance) If your practice is anything like mine, they'll do a blood test at 6 weeks and schedule you to come back at 8 or 9 weeks for dating scan and first real appt.
awesome scans ladies!! I go on Monday, counting down the days until we see what we've got!! We heard & saw hb at 6wks with DD1, so I'm hoping to see/hear it again on Monday, I'll be 6 weeks. Good luck ladies!

@longliveregina oooh ok that's helpful! I hope they do all of my prenatal as one big bill to insurance. Someone I work with did hers that way so they had the birth completely paid for by the time it came as they just paid a portion at each appointment and I would love to do it that way! I don't want some huge bill looming over me right after I give birth lol
@longliveregina I wonder how that works when we are having our babies in a new year?? My insurance renews each Jan 1. Last time I had better insurance so I didn't have to pay for any prenatal appts just the birth.
For all my appts for my previous pregnancy, I just got a bill for all of them collectively. I left the office each time without owing anything. So there's a good chance for me I'll have 9 months of bills racked up. Maybe I can have them do two separate bills- one for the end of 2016 and one for the end of pregnancy in 2017? Trying to get the most insurance benefits.

This is so exciting! We go in on July 27 (currently 4w4d) and I am so nervous and anxious and excited. This is our first, so I am praying we get to hear the tiny heartbeat. Congrats again, everyone!

Hobestly I have no idea. I had my son in february but since my insurance just rolled over I never thought about it. All I had to worry about as one single copay (since it was all billed at one time), the hospital copay when I was admitted (400) and the difference between what insurance paid and what my practice charged for the delivery (a whopping 147 dollars).
Then the hospital bill arrived a few months later. Egads! Let's just say I will fit tooth and nail to only stay one night this time!! They bill insurance for everything, even if you don't use it.
@longliveregina thanks. I already met my out of pocket max for this year (yay gallbladder surgery) so I'm thinking I'll just get hit with the max for everything next year. Yay for dr/hospital bills
I just had my first ultrasound and we got to hear a heartbeat. (TW...::) It was truly a magical moment as we lost our last pregnancy just before this time. Brought tears to our eyes. Looks like a shrimp heheh.
I had one last week and I'm too early for them to see anything... so I did blood work and my levels are rising so I'm doing well.. I get my next ultrasound on the 27th..
@Sugargirl1019 the dr said six weeks and change and by my estimation it was 6w3days. It was hard to hear - I had to hold my breath so she could angle it just right but it was there and super neat to hear!

@MollyandD Thanks for the info, there is a boutique near my work and I was just starting to thinking about it. I'll have to read through these.
