  • That's good for all of the inconvenience and stress @mojiejo what a nightmare this has been for you guys. At least they'll finish it up to your liking and it will be done. Still frustrating when you pay a professional to do this type of work. Ugh! Yeah it's worth a shot to check out the exhaust. Sounds like it may have come undone or was never vented right. Hopefully you can get it sorted out!

@MojieJo Woohoo discount! We also have a wall in our house where the paint does the same thing you're describing. It looks almost like it had oil splattered on it or something. I think it was painted with some weird paint at one point and now it's hard to paint over without it looking streaky

  • Soo my mom just took my dogs (puggles) for a walk and they were attacked by another dog. According to my mom it was a black/chocolate lab who got off his leash while on a walk with their owner. The lab charged at them and pinned my one dog to the ground and was scratching and biting her. Luckily, she escaped with only two scratches and a small bite on the leg. Then my dog ran away and luckily again she ran straight home!

My mom doesnt have any injuries besides a scratch on her hand. However, she told me two neighbors just watched her try to fight the lab off my dogs and the owner just sat there screaming. Once the owner got control of her lab she just ran off. Doesn't that seem a bit rude?! I mean at least ask if your dog hurt my dogs. Who just runs off like that?!

  • @seitzy3 glad to hear everyone made it out of the attack with minimal damage! That is awful of the other owner to not only not help, but run away afterwards! Not to mention the other people just watching. Stuff like that makes me so angry!

  • @seitzy3 That is terrible!!!! I'm so sorry! Poor babies. Sounds like the owner was a coward. Ugh! I'd be livid!

So we can add me to the list of bumpies with kids that have HFM. Poor kid!

Question - I know it can't be treated and just pretty much runs it's course (unless symptoms are bad enough for treatment, ie fever reducers, lidocaine salves for sores, etc). DDs case seems super mild (so far anyway) so is it awful to skip the trip to the ped? Anyone know when it's no longer considered contagious? That's really my biggest question at this point - when is it safe to send her back to daycare - and really the only reason I'd take her to the dr because she's otherwise managing fine.
DD had it last year, and her case was pretty mild. She didn't have any other symptoms other than the mild rashes. I never went to the pedi, kept her home and away from other kids for a week. It really sucked being stuck at home for that long. I had to be really creative with activities, and we watched a LOT of movies.

  • After hearing all of you ladies talk about jimmy John sandwiches, I just found out they have them in Memphis so guess what I'm having for lunch tomorrow?!?! I'm super excited and hope they are as delicious as y'all have made them out to be. What do you recommend?

Eh it's a deli sandwich. Small step above subway
  • @marikkita12 Personally, I really enjoy the veggie - lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and provolone. Their jalapeno and bbq chips are good, too.

  • @KimmySchmidt @seitzy3 @PSUBecky23 @camichael84 @PSUBecky23 I think the difficult part is the unknown plus I have a low tolerance level of pain (I pop a bunch of ibuprofen just to get waxed and I detest going to the dentist). I think it's too scary to be epi-free, so will definitely leave that option open. We're really looking forward to meeting LO, so hopefully the whole birthing thing will just be a blip during this journey into parenthood.

And P.S. the doula/proctor basically told us to Netflix and chill during early contractions. With some nipple stimulation. Because semen will knock on the cervix's door, and it'll open up. DH was like, no thx. However, she did recommend some useful relaxation tips and techniques to use in the hospital room.

@camichael84 DH is level 16...my neighborhood stinks in terms of different Pokemon, so I'm a bit SOL.
  • @marikkita12 I love the Italian, but that's what I always get anywhere I go. It's really good, but it isn't really anything special. I'm just avoiding cold deli meat for no reason because listeria is in everything else we eat, but never reported in meat. So now I want one bad because I can't have one. I do, however, love their jalepeno chips! Those are so good.

I've decided getting caught up on these threads is impossible. My last few weeks have been crazy so I feel so behind!
But im just laying here at 4:30am like
  • @seitzy3 yes it seems rude, but she may have been overwhelmed and focused on removing her dog from the situation/put an end to the destructiveness, if I'm trying to give her the benefit of doubt.

Your poor dogs. And mother! Id be scared witless. I don't know what is up with people not keeping control of their dogs.

Our neighborhood has one dog in particular that I'm convinced at this point is just letting it out like a cat. With incorrect information on the tags. I have taken this stupid chiuhuahua out of the arms of the animal rescue people to bring it back home. Twice. And they didn't even thank me! So done. Next time animal control can take their obnoxious (and unneutered!) dog to the pound and they can pay to get him back. Or not. I give no more fucks.

@seitzy3 I'm so sorry! My dog has been attacked twice (by two different dogs!) and I know how scary it can be. Mine is a husky but she doesn't hold her own because she's so nice and not aggressive. Your poor puggles (lol my phone auto corrected to piglets) must have been so scared! The worst that's happened is she broke a toenail and it was so sad. I'm glad your dogs are okay!

There are 3 dogs who live across the road that sometimes come running out when I walk my dog. They all surround her, and they're off leash and she's on leash, so she would definitely lose if they ever decided to attack her. I've called animal control SO much on them but animal control is 45 minutes away (we live in a small town) so by the time anything happens, the dogs are usually not around. I've never even seen the people who live in this house, or I'd reem them out. How hard is it to be a responsible dog owner?!

  • In my opinion, Jimmy Johns is worse than Subway...you can't even customize what you want on it really. Not many options. And it was just meh. I have been once and never again. Subway is almost a weekly thing for me. But that's just my two cents!

Sorry to hear about the attack on your dogs @seitzy3 that's awful and totally wrong for the other owner to run away. Wtf. Thanks for standing there screaming instead of helping to pull your dog away too. Wow. :( at least no one was seriously hurt. That could have been bad.
  • SLou24SLou24 member
@seitzy3 That's horrible!! Glad everyone got out of it ok, including your mom! I do think it was rude for the other owner to just run off -- without even an apology? I used to have an aggressive dog, and there were a few times when he got into it with other dogs in the park and I used to apologize profusely/make sure everyone was ok before moving on, no major damage was ever done but I found it very traumatizing myself! Side note, that dog now lives with my ex and is not aggressive anymore, so he's in a happy place and so is everyone else :)
  • @JennM205 according to our communicable disease handbook, the incubation period is 3-7 days before the blisters appear, and can be contagious for 1-2 weeks afterward, but aren't expected to exclude children from care with it.

Baby boy is not active AT ALL this morning. I have an appt in 2 hrs, otherwise I may be heading in to get checked out. He has barely hit the 6x in 2 hrs, but they're very small movements despite some caffeine and orange juice.

@KimmySchmidt I'm also giving the owner the benefit of the doubt. My mom told me she did have her child in the stroller with her. She was probably so overwhelmed and upset and didn't know what to do. I have a neighborhood FB page and posted on it to try and contact the owner. I just want to make sure the dog has its shots and all that.

@RG1 haha they are like two little piglets. I have volunteered at shelters and rescue groups and still horrified at the things I've seen. Some people are just so cruel to animals. I'll never understand!

@SLou24  awe that's good he is no longer aggressive! I used to watch and help train aggressive dogs and it's scary but also sad because they have no trust in other animals or humans.

Honestly, I do feel for the other owner because I know I would be horrified if my dogs did something like that. But I can't imagine not making sure the other person/dogs are okay after the encounter.

Change of topic: I prefer jersey mikes over jimmy johns any day :)  I was also born and raised in philly so no sandwich I can get here in Dallas compares to my hoagies at home!

  • Oh hell yes, jersey Mike's makes my
    mouth water.
  • @Themaritimemama hoping your appointment will put your mind at ease, I'm sure little guy is just chillin in there
  • I'm so worn out from taking care of patient 0. He was literally crying all night unless he was on me squishing my bump.
  • OMG @megan324 yes!!! I haven't had pita pit since I moved. Mmm I have been craving wraps lately so much too. Their pitas are amazing! Damn, I'm drooling. Ha
  • @Themaritimemama My love it was for the HFM info.  I hope your little guy is just having a sleepy day and you get some answers/relief at your appointment today!

@seitzy3 How scary!  I'm really glad your pups and your Mom are ok.  I do question the owner of the other dog for just taking off but can also see how she might have just thought it best to remove herself, dog and child from the situation.

I'm a Jimmy John's girl - but only on the 7-grain bread.  Their standard french bread is just 'meh' to me.  I do also like Jersey Mike's but, again, the bread is not my favorite so I usually get mine in a whole wheat wrap.  Subway - ick.

  • @Themaritimemama mine did this this weekend. All day. Just enough movement that I knew she was in there but not enough that I was satisfied. But just enough that they told me I probably don't need to come in. So annoying when they do that. The nurse said that they have sleepy days where they just don't move much.
  • @Themaritimemama Mine was doing that all night/this morning.  It's defintiely nerve-wracking.   However, I've apparently been sitting at my desk in the right position for the last 5 minutes, because Nugget is moving around again.   Not as strong as somedays, but definitely moving.

Question:  At 30 weeks should I be feeling strong jabs?  I feel soft, sometimes a little harder movements and definitely 'slides' across the tummy, but nothing that would be painful.  Just curious as it seems some mamas have distinct 'OMG that was a direct hit!' movements.
  • @AnnaS930 @Sbrown721 I hear you about the belly comments. I always look in the mirror too, just to reassure myself that I look AMAZING :)

@lovelylauren86 Oh no! I hope you're able to get that fixed asap...what a terrible thing to happen!

My random: I was laying on the floor the other day and I decided to roll over...so of course I was groaning and grunting because of the additional effort that now requires. DH starts laughing at me and, I KID YOU NOT, says "You're like a beached whale...it's so cute!" And for some reason, instead of getting suddenly offended, I started laughing uncontrollably with him until tears were coming out of my eyes. A beached whale...well thanks, honey!

Re: everything sandwiches, y'all are killing me (forgot my breakfast at home). I don't think we have Pita Pit in Atlanta but I love it and miss it so much! I also love Jimmy John's, for the bread. @marikkita12 I like their beach club. In my 'hood, Publix subs is where it's at. Their deli is amazing for a grocery store. Personally, I think Subway is gross. Their bread tastes like styrofoam to me.

Re: Dogs. I do dog rescue too, and uncontrolled dogs really stress me out. I'm so sorry that happened, @seitzy3! I have a neighbor on one side with an aggressive golden mix who is responsible and SO careful about letting her get out. My neighbors on the other side, though, have aggressive yorkies who get out... I have a rescue pit who is not at all aggressive but has been known to occasionally bite when attacked, and he could easily kill one of their dogs. Scares the crap out of me. Unneutered loose dogs also piss me off, @KimmySchmidt. What kind of jerk increases the chihuahua population?

  • @LakeR2014 I am 31 weeks and have definitely never felt any sort of painful kicks. It seems like every night around 6 baby likes to put his/her feet way up into my ribs for a few hours and that's a very tight, uncomfortable feeling, but other than that it's just been lots of movement that's not painful at all...

I feel STRONG movements, sometimes they hurt. I am 31+4.

At this point you can see him from the outside, I actually just recorded a video of him moving.

I'm sure it has to do a lot with the position of the baby and the placenta and all that jazz.
My baby is just super forward and has been head down- locked and loaded for weeks.
ETA: I think feeling any movement means that you're a-okay
