Also @blondie080300 - Don't change too much just based on laboring in the tub. I thought I'd love the jetted tubs at my hospital and found that my contractions were completely unbearable on my back and was BEGGING to get help out of the tub immediately. Do you live close to the hospital and have a tub at home? Can you stay home for as long as possible in the bath before heading in?
This morning started off great. Kids in a good mood, got dd1 off to school without any problem. Started getting ready for my hair appointment when I get a call from her school. Cue my heart dropping. They only call when there is an incident.
They said she was dancing with another kid and they tripped and she bumped her mouth on his head. Her tooth was loose so I should probably call a dentist to get her scheduled. I wasn't expecting what I saw. Her front tooth is basically out and so far pushed back its sitting on her tongue.
Her dentist is closed on Fridays, the nerve! So I called the emergency line and she can't get into the office until 4. The tooth will for sure have to be pulled. This comes two days after going to the dentist and getting a perfect check up on Wednesday. That kid must have head made of steel!
Of course she is fine but mama is a mess. Any site of blood or disfiguration on my child just sends me off an emotional cliff.
@seitzy3 - Of course it's right after the dentist check-up! That's when these things happen. Murphy's Law or something like that, right? Poor kiddo. On the upside (I don't know if she's lost other teeth or not), you get to play Tooth Fairy. That, strangely enough, was something that I was super excited about when mine lost teeth.
@seitzy3 - Every time my phone rings I fear it's daycare before looking at who is calling, I know that heart-sinking feeling. I'm also a weirdo about mouths... I have nightmares of tripping and knocking my teeth out - so all of this to say, I 100% feel you.
My best buddy growing up, Chip, knocked his front 2 teeth out being a wild boy when we were 4 years old. He was the absolute CUTEST thing in the world without those front teeth at a young age.. she'll bounce back (she probably has already) and you eventually will too!!
@618mom22boys I am also so sorry to hear about your friendships and the suffering you have gone through. I can see how you would feel like you can't or shouldn't have best friends but I hope after the initial shock settles down that you can think of it more as how special you and these people are to be able to know/have known one another and get so close. I know these tragedies are causing you pain and I am so sorry for that. I am thinking of you as someone so special that these people were put in your life to know you for a reason. And you must be enriching them in some way. Big hugs.

Thank-you so much for all of the advice! I am definitely going to at least make the initial appointment with the midwives as you have all suggested. This was exactly the motivation I needed to become "unstuck" in taking action. @AnnaS930, I live about 10-15 minutes from both hospitals but don't have a very deep tub at home. However you are right, it would do in a pinch and my goal will be to labor for as long as possible at home regardless so thanks for sharing that insight.
@Megan324 I also HATE being called ma'am!!! It can ruin my whole afternoon!
@seitzy3 I am sorry to read about your daughter! It does not sound like a fun way to spend the day! Ahhhh parenting.....I gotta get ready for this!!
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@seitzy3 That's rough. Glad to hear your daughter is handling it well. I understand you taking it harder than her. I almost always take boo-boos worse than my daughter does. I hate to see her hurt. It's our mommy insticts to always want to protect them from these kinds of things even though they are inevitable.
Thanks everyone. @AnnaS930 I am also very weird about teeth. I grew up with having the worst dental experiences so I think that makes it a little more rough for me. She however is acting totally normal besides not being able to eat properly and she has a little lisp from the tooth being on her tongue. Poor girl. I told her we need to go to the dentist this afternoon and have her broken tooth fixed and she is excited as long as she can get new "Doctor gloves" haha. I'm always surprised by kids
@Unwritten524 Murphy's law for sure! But I didn't even think about the tooth fairy. Thanks for the idea.
Im sure she will be the cutest toothless little 3 year old out there.
Small update on the painter issue we're having: They claim they can get the paint out of the nursery carpet and are going to do it tomorrow. I'm not overly optimistic, but I'm trying not to be too pessimistic, either.
We talked to the supervisor today. He agreed that this crap we've been putting up with isn't acceptable, so there's that. We're still figuring out how to get this whole mess resolved.
@618mom22boys - very sorry to hear about your friend. Sending positive vibes your way.
@BernieRae I will probably do a birth announcement. DH and My immediate family both live in Florida, but we both have large extended families in NJ. Some are on facebook some are not. DH and I eloped and I sent out shutterfly announcements and I really love how they turned out and would love to do something similar. (and they were pretty cheap.
Me: 32 DH: 31

Baby #1 DD Born 8/25/2016 BFP: 8/11/18 Due: 4/26/18
@618mom22boys so sorry to hear about your friend. Thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.
@seitzy3 I'm glad she's handling it well- I would also be a total mess. DS has a horsefly bite that swelled up on his back and I am having a hard time when he says "momma itch". I couldn't imagine his tooth being knocked out !!
I have to AW for a moment because these are the moments I love. Deklyn listening and feeling Ava kick and move. She loves it! She says Ava is tickling my ears sorry if it's huge I'm mobile. She always knows how to make me feel better despite her having the boo boo!
Good to know that mailing birth announcements isn't a must. I do have family not on FB, but everyone has email at least. I think we'll try to do a photo Christmas card instead. @AnnaS930 that was ambitious to even THINK about with #1 being close to xmas! @UnwritteN12 that uncle does sound like an ass. I'm wondering if older generations still expect the mailed announcement. I don't see how it's disrespectful not to. I do like getting a text announcement prior to seeing it on Facebook in the case of close friends/family. I was surprised to 1st hear the news on Facebook that my stepsister had her baby. I was a bit hurt not to get a text first from my dad or stepmom.

The following doesn't apply to your step-sister, and I understand feeling hurt about that. I found out via FB that my first nephew was a boy and that hurt my feelings, too, even though it was DH's brother and not mine having the baby. However, I didn't get a total say in when the news my daughter was being born went on FB because my freaking brother made a post that he was headed to the hospital because I was having my baby. And he tagged me in, so that all my friends could see it. I guess he didn't make the actual birth announcement, but I was still upset. It wasn't how I planned on letting people know our baby had been born. It also resulted in a lot of texts from people congratulating us and us wondering how the hell they knew our daughter had been born. I obviously wasn't checking FB as I was pushing my daughter out or directly after.
Although we did birth announcements for DS, we will most likely do a Holiday card sent out earlier than normal instead. It doesn't make sense to me to waste all of that money- seriously stamps are so expensive- only to do it again a month later.
Seriously, most of my entire office decided to either a) not work b) work from home or c) leave at noon, so it's just me here. I'm torn between going home and enjoying the freedom or taking advantage of the extra quiet and getting stuff done. Seriously. I've been so productive today it's insane (and I'm loving it!)
@PoodleDoodleOoo I'm in the exact same boat as you - pretty much the only one in the office - except instead of being incredibly productive, I'm stuck on this insane report that I just cannot figure out!! I've wasted the entire day on this instead of being productive on any one of the other million things on my plate right now. I need this 3-day weekend so bad...haha...one more hour, one more hour...
I was semi-productive today which is an improvement, and really enjoyed the quiet office ... seemed most of the annoying people took today off, happy holiday to ME! Home now, kiddo is enjoying a show while I put my feet up. No husband tonight so taking it easy and planning on tons of cleaning when little one goes to bed!
Is anyone else less excited and more freaked the eff out about our announcement thread? Not that I don't want our babies born but that I don't want anyone posting on it anytime soon. I have such a fear about preterm labor for anyone, not sure why. I felt nauseous even clicking it in fear that someone had already posted. Idk, I have issues right now.
@PoodleDoodleOoo SO with you. I'm the only employee here today so I spent the morning working and the afternoon printing the thank you cards I'll use for after my shower lol. And other baby-related online dicking around, of course.
Same here @PoodleDoodleOoo! It was forced productivity that required a ton of effort on my part but I got a ton done! Unfortunately I had to leave 2 hours early though as I went on a froyo run with a colleague and felt really sick when we got back to the office. So now I am home with my feet up and 1 project left on my plate that I wanted to finish.....but I feel pretty spent. I worked 4 x10's this past week (so I could take 1 day off to "nest") and the long days are killer. Something tells me this last project is going to either get done over the weekend or not at all until I can find time to squeeze it in late next week. I seriously have so much to do at work before going out on leave that the idea of delivering before my September is unfathomable.

Slow down you guys! I had a ton of posts to catch up on
@618mom22boys Im so sorry about both of your friends. I hope the cancer is manageable.
@seitzy3 Dental problems freak me out too! I'm part hillbilly and was missing one of my bottom teeth and had to have numerous surgeries to have an implant placed. DD didn't get any teeth and showed no signs of getting any until she was 13 months old. I was so worried she didn't have any teeth in her face. Now she's missing one of her bottom front teeth just like I was and I'm so worried she's going to have to go through tons of dental surgeries to make up for my bad genes
@OBMommy Great question! I totally left that part out of the story! So I want to hire my hypnobirthing teaching as our doula (bc she is one, lol) but if I need a c-section, then I don't really feel it warrants the $600+ for the doula. She was aware of my low lying placenta but I haven't communicated the results of the 28 week ultrasound yet (that the placenta hasn't moved a safe distance yet). I don't want her feeling in limbo either in regards to wondering if I am going to hire her or not. I seriously owe her an update though.....sigh.

I'm 98% sure that Baby B has flipped back head down.
Actually, I think he did it a couple hours after my last ultrasound, where he'd gone transverse. I felt a lot of stretching and painful cramping and then it seemed like he was back in place, but this morning I woke up and could feel his whole body stretched out along my left side, with his butt right up under my ribs, like it was for weeks before he decided to troll me and flip.
I go back to the OB on the 6th, so fingers crossed this little stinker stays in position. Mommy doesn't want to be forced into a C-section, little one.
I'm about to throw something at DH. He's home early today and I never realized how much I enjoy my alone time until he decided to call the credit card company about some charge on SPEAKER while I napped. WTF DH how can you be so oblivious to your sleeping pregnant wife on the couch?!?! Rawr!!!! I didn't even know what to say I was/am fuming and am currently giving him the silent treatment. I'm mature.
@OBMommy Does your hospital allow doulas to speak on your behalf? All the doulas I interviewed were adamant that they could not intervene between me/DH and medical staff. She could consult with us and then we could relay our thoughts/preferences to medical staff ourselves.
@blondie080300 I would stay with your current Doctor whom you trust. You are at legitimate risk of needing a csection and you don't want to up a creek without a paddle. I personally value the trusted medical opinion over the comfort of the location.
Look into hiring a doula. I think that is where you will find your happy medium. (S)he can help you keep your eye on the prize as far as attempting the kind of delivery you're hoping to have and help you make sense of what interventions are and are not strictly necessary.

What a strange thing to tell someone... I just tried to look and see what I could add and there is nothing.
