I am so incredibly awkward when it comes to talking about you guys around my IRL friends and family.
For example... Friend: have you heard of dreamfeeding? How's it work? Me: Oh yea! My friend @JoMunson tried it recently and had good results Friend: @JoMunson? What kind of name is that? Me: It's not her real name. It's her internet name. She's my internet friend. Friend: oh..... With a serious side eye
Another example... Mom: you're doing such a great job navigating breastfeeding. Where'd you learn all this about pumping? Me: I'm in a moms group and they help Mom: that's awesome. When are the meetings? Me: oh. No. It's online Mom: strangers? Me: where they aren't really strangers mom Mom: they're online? They're strangers.
Oh my gosh this cracked me up! I usually say "these ladies I know" or for DH who loves forum I say "well on the forums were talking about..."
Anyone had LASIK eye surgery? I am considering trying to get it done before I go back to work, but in curious about how long I'm out, how much help I would need, etc. Any thoughts appreciated!
Ugh. Not that I'm sure my dad is still coming out today, but Corbin decided to have a massive blow out all over the brand new outfit I got for him to wear for today... And his blanket, and me (of course right after I had just showered).
And I could kill DH right now bc he just woke up and all he could say is 'why does it smell like poop?'. And instead of asking if he could help with anything he's still sitting in bed on his phone. I really wish I hadn't thrown everything in the wash already... I would have gladly shown him just why everything smelled like poop.

Hahaha. This! The other day I mentioned something from the board and DH was like who? I mumbled "an internet friend from the mom board said. . ." While everyone at the table was like what is she talking about? So much side-eye.

I had PRK which is like LASIK but without cutting the lens. DH had LASIK the same day I had PRK and he was up and about within 24 hours with great vision. Pretty minimal recovery for LASIK, about a week recovery for PRK (but it's less invasive and for people with dry lenses). Of course you would need help coming home but I would say get it done on a Friday and you'll be good by Monday. But note: I have to get an adjustment (due to horrible vision, PRK made it a ton better but still some prescription), they want me to wait until I'm done breastfeeding before they'll do it. I'm sure I could pump and dump and use my stash but we haven't worked out all the details yet. Might wait till LO is 1 before I do my adjustment, since I probably won't go past a year BFing. Who knows. Just let the office know you're BFing at the consultation.
ETA: DH drove us to our next day check up after his LASIK. I would definitely recommend it if you could do it. Best decision ever.
Anyone else falling asleep to the rocking of their Swings? Am staring at Alex in his Rockaroo and, man, it's working better on me than on him!
When I rock LO to sleep for her late afternoon nap, I ALWAYS nod off. I can then feel my arms go light and snap awake to see she's wide awake staring at me.
A lot of people came and brought us food the first week - we actually had way too much. This included a lot of cupcakes since my friends know I love them. Now I've passed the two week mark and the food delivery has dried up and I'm feeling angry that the cupcake supply has been cut off. Which also makes me feel kind of like a greedy jerk but mostly I just miss my cupcakes. Don't people know that I still can't go get cupcakes on my own after two weeks because I haven't figured out how to put the car seat base in my car yet?
@pascal86 One of our friends brought us lactation cookies with the meal she made the second week pp when my mom was still here. My FIL sent us chocolate chip cookies, and I kept telling my mom she needed to try them. Fast forward to me going to the pantry to try a lactation cookie and see half of them gone.
Me: "Who ate these cookies?" Mom: "I did. You told me to try them!" Me: "I told you to try the chocolate chip cookies in the fridge. These are lactation cookies." Mom: "Well that makes more sense. You kept raving about these chocolate chip cookies, but I thought they tasted off. Then I figured that's maybe how they made chocolate chip cookies in San Francisco. Good thing I had a mastectomy. They shouldn't work for me."
@missnc77 haha I'm glad she ate half of them even when they tasted off to her. That would make me pretty pissed though, I probably wouldn't have offered any cookies to anyone in the first place though!

I think they might make you wait awhile. My prescription has changed since being pregnant but they won't examine me for a few months since they could still be changing from hormones I guess?
A friend from church signed up to bring us a meal tonight, but I'm guessing she forgot because it's 7:15, and I haven't heard from her... So we're probably having ice cream for dinner.

Who the hell shoots off fireworks randomly on Father's Day weekend? Well my neighbors obviously. I literally just got Corbin to sleep... And then the dog freaked out and started barking bc of said fireworks. Literally feel like murdering my neighbor. That is if I could step away from the now inconsolable newborn.
Waiting until the day before Father's Day to do a project was a horrible idea. We're full swing in the 5-week fussy, cluster feeding stage. DH's present is never going to be finished and I'm exhausted!

I didn't even think about that -- thanks for letting me know!

This exact thing just happened to us too. Why are dogs such loons?

Minutes ago here too. One of my dogs doesn't care, the other is apparently feeling very threatened.
Any of you called in an exterminator/pest control service before? Did the bugs go away right after that, or did they come out of the woodwork for a bit like they did when we sprayed the house with the Home Defense stuff? Because I've about reached my limit with the bugs I've seen since we sprayed, but I also don't think I could handle it if calling pest control means seeing more giant spiders come out of hiding...

We did when we first moved into our house and I don't recall seeing a bunch of bugs afterwards - I would definitely remember. I hate bugs. Maybe the stuff they use is a little bit different and actually prevents that from happening.

I'm on bug maintenance plan with terminex because we always get tons of little black ants. I've never noticed a big increase after a treatment but it can take a week or so until the population really decreases and then disappears.
Re: Weekly Randoms 6/6
I am the same! Except I call you the Americans. And people get confused cause I've never been to the states.
And I also refer to people where they live, like the one girl in NY, or Texas or whatever.
