And then when you have 2 you realize you were silly to think you were ever tired with just a newborn! Toddlers are so fun..
I know, what the hell!? My toddler is insane. Like padded walls insane..
    Yes!
First baby DH helped me so much at all times when home. This baby some days he gets in the door and I am like hi, glad you are home, I got the baby, I am going to go in our room with baby and lock the door and by the way can you please watch over the spider monkey who is climbing the walls and leaving a trail of destruction, k, thanks.

Lol!  Yep, my H is on toddler duty from the time he gets home to the time she goes to bed.  Lately he's been taking her in the basement to workout with him when he gets home, and I get some glorious "alone" time with the baby.

How can you do tummy time with a 2 week old if they are never awake?  I know over the shoulder chest to chest counts and I do that a ton, but I would like to do more on the floor but it is like she is never awake.

Tummy time question... When I put the bolster under her belly, I feel like she tries to roll forward, and doesn't lift up. I HATE tummy time mainly because I feel like I am doing it wrong. Is this normal? Should I just take the bolster away so she is flat?

  • H is giving Holly her first bottle (pumped bmilk) as we speak and it is breaking my heart. I was going to wait on it but my pedi encouraged me to try now in case she rejected it at first, but she is taking it no problem. It's nice to see her bond with my H but I also feel sad. It is very bittersweet.
  • @yogahh I put the bolster under her chest, right under her arms.

I didn't want to give a pumped bottle with my first either, but I eventually gave in and it got me some sleep! So we started at like 1 week with this one. I feed at 930, go to bed, he gives bottle at 11:30 & down in bassinet with him until she wakes up at 1:30. He brings her up to me for the rest of the night. It's a glorious 4 hours of sleep. (DH snores louder than I've ever heard...so for now, he is still downstairs lol)
  • At the doc first time out with the baby in three weeks! It feels so weird!
  • I just bought the boppy lounger and we love it so far! Anyone else have one?

  • Going stir crazy today. It's been raining on and off all day and we haven't been able to get out for our daily walk. And now LO is sleeping. Of course I should probably catch up on sleep, but I'm wide awake.
  • I just bought the boppy lounger and we love it so far! Anyone else have one?
    No tell me everything!

  • I've been stalking my insurance online to try to intercept any and all issues that will come up. Each one of my baby's claims was denied. Every. Single. Insurance. Claim. Was. Denied. So I called to rectify the situation, they just wanted to make sure there wasn't any secondary insurance. I mean, why? So if I wouldn't of called, I just would be responsible for like $10k because they just wanted to know??

I got one! I've only put Ezra in it a few times but he usually likes it for a minute or two!

YES. My cousin gave me one after singing its praises. DS naps in it most of the day.

  • I don't know how some of you do it staying home all the time. I've been out and about running errands, visiting people, taking walks since week 2. Today was a rare one where we stayed in the house. Although it was a nice break I go stir crazy being at home. Elizabeth and I are on the move.

It's a round boppy pillow with no cutout that is made for babies to kind of lounge and hang out in. It's super portable and he really loves it so far!  It's not made for sleeping overnight without supervision but it's a great day time hang out spot! My only wish is that the cover was removable for washing but there is a similar product our there called the Leachco podster that does have a removable cover.

I think my baby sleeps better when we are out making moves. @TXmamatobe going to check it out, just what we need, more stuff!! :D

I put a little essential oil on mine and throw it in the dryer- freshens it and cleans bacteria

DH calls it the special pillow. Love it! LO naps on it all the time! So glad I bought it. I never buy stuff from Kohls but they've got some great baby things and this was one of them. Not to mention Kohls cash and coupons ;)

I agree though, wish I could wash the cover but it doesn't soak up moisture. LO has spit up on it a few times already.
  • I have a boppy lounger and you can throw it in the wash. We use it during the day and move it to her sidecar bassinet for nighttime even though it says not to. She loves sleeping at an incline so this is perfect.

The Boppy newborn lounger? My older daughter loved it when she was a baby and this LO seems to equally love it. Just like her sister, Cora will fall asleep easily in it, just hand out in it. It's been a lifesaver!
  • I just got so excited bc I have a 30% off coupon for Kohls, and found it on the website. But OF COURSE promotional offers don't apply to the boppy newborn lounger. Argh, the planets are against me this week.

  • Love the boppy!! More importantly, LO loves the boppy. Today I put him in it, he fell asleep, so I carried him into our room in it and put it in the middle of the bed so I could nap too. Total win.

I usually just put a blanket on top.  That lessens the trips through the wash at least.  And both of my kiddos have loved it so far!  One of our favorite purchases.

I love mine! LO is alert during breakfast time, and we will often put him on the lounger on the table while we eat. It's great!

I get really anxious if Holly falls asleep at night in a "daytime" outfit even though pretty much all of the clothes she wears inside are like pajamas. If she falls asleep at night in something that doesn't have footies I have a hard time sleeping! I just hate the idea of her being uncomfy or cold (we have our AC on) or sleeping in what she wore that day!  I don't wake her up to change into jammies when this happens but I wish I could!

Edited bc bc I posted too soon by mistake!
  • It really stressed me out when anyone else besides me, my husband, or my mom holds Abby. I feel like it makes her anxious. No one know how to hold her tight like she likes it. When will I start feeling like she's happy to be here and I'm fulfilling all her needs?
  • Gah, I have the misfortune of letting many graphic designers know that we managed to fill the position and that their application was unsuccessful..

This might be too much for a sleep deprived, emotional mother to a newborn. I hate dissapointing people... Especially since I know how much job hunting sucks.

Yes same here with my LO. Lots of anxiety and somehow pressure to give them visitors to hold. I don't like it at all. I don't feel comfortable with it. She's not at trophy to pass around. Also I'm scared of germs that might jeopardize her health. DH doesn't understand it, so I'm the bad guy that sometimes, when it's a strange person to me (mostly from DHs relatives), says no. I still feel bad about it, but I just can't. I did give her to ppl I don't know very well to hold and it was not a good feeling, but the pressure is just there when they come to visit. Somehow they expect it and are offended when I decline.
Also, how come that so many relatives of my H never showed up before and now that there's a baby they come and also expect to hold her even though I've never met them before?
Somehow it's not a problem with my close family, but I don't feel comfortable at all with people that I don't know.
  • Going to throat punch the next person that calls my little girl a boy. I tend to dress her in non-traditional colors for a girl - not pink everything. So sometimes I get it. But when the kid has a boy in their hair, come on. Why are people so stupid?

I got so mad the other day because someone called her a boy. Granted she was in a wrap so you couldn't see her flowery dress but she had a huge bow in! I corrected the guy and he was like its so hard to tell at this age

I dress my daughter in nothing but pink and floral prints and she STILL gets called a boy!!!

  • I have an LC coming by in a few hours and I'm really hoping she can help DD and I to get her back to the breast. DH has gone back to work and has to stay the night twice a week before they deploy and so I'm getting a glimmer of what life will be like doing this all on my own in a couple of weeks and I'm really freaking out. DH and I had a system down to where I'd pump while he fed her a bottle of breastmilk so I wasn't up any longer than he was at night and we both wound up getting fairly decent 2-3 hour chunks of sleep most nights...well yeah, now that it's all me, night wakings wind up with me up for close to 2 hours between feeding her the bottle, changing her, and pumping and its flippin ridiculous to pump the milk from my boobs and feed it to her through a different nipple. Then bottle dishes during the day take up a good chunk of time as well. With her jaundice and weight loss issues and her broken clavicle that kept her away from me for several hours after delivery, we had a bad shot at breastfeeding and she refuses the boob at this point. Just really really hoping that for my sanity's sake this LC can help us...I can't imagine "single mom-ing" it for 8 months while DH is away if this is what my life is going to be like.

    Sorry, just venting.
  • @ncm0328 I hope she can help (and really think she will!!!) keep us updated!
  • @ncm0328 fx for a great appt with your LC. Hoping everything works out for you, mama!

@ncm0328 Good luck with LC! Idk if you looked at the start to bf thread but its great. If you still have trouble I had a cs and magnesium which made things difficult to bf at first in the hospital she wouldnt do it even with lc and nurses trying all their tricks so I pumped and supplemented. I bought a shield when I got home it worked great (not so great in public totally not discrete but good at home) she was getting everything from me with it. Last week I started using it to start and then taking it off in the middle and having her latch on me and she does and will finish eating. The last 3 days we have not been using it at all during the day! At night she still gets too worked up and wont latch right on me at first but we are working on it! Baby steps! Lol  Good luck hopefully you wont need it!  :)
