One time I had to make a children's book (including writing and illustrating) for graduate school, read about 100 pages, and write a reflection essay. All of this three days after getting diagnosed with tonsillitis and falling down my stairs with scalding hot tea in my hand.
what a paradise that was ;)

  • @yogahh She's still adorable! Henry had it really bad for about a week, then it cleared up about as quickly as it came. He only has a little in his hairline now. I think it's mostly a hormone balance, but I found it was helpful to wipe his face with water amd a washcloth and follow up with a tiny bit of coconut oil or breastmilk to keep it moisturized without clogging the pores-- it brought down the redness and kept it from get scaly/him scratching it and making it worse.

I've been squeezing my boobs in hopes to get a few drops of milk for her face. Figures I'm finally dried up, huh! im noticing some bumps on her legs now too, so going to call the dr this week if it gets worse/spreads.

Worst baby purchase ever were the fitted decorative changing pad cover/sheets. He stained both of them in the first week and they are ruined. Now we just put disposable changing pad covers over the changing pad. But the sheets I bought were so cute and matched the crib sheets!
Keekaroo Peankt changing pad for the win! You can clean it with water and/or wipes, no laundry necessary!

I can so relate to this. I worked full time though grad school & when I got pregnant I was totally like "it's cool, I know how to be tired." No, no I did not know how to be tired. STFU former-me, because that was not even close to this :P

Don't feel too bad...LO gets milk all over his face quite often (I guess I have a strong let-down?) and he still has baby acne...

So we have this waterproof changing pad. But I bought this cover, which is basically a sheet! I bought two from Land of Nod and they were so stylish and chic. And now they are stained with yellow poo...So the changing pad has no decorative cover...

    I also love my bamboobies!

Jet's acne is finally going away at 2 weeks. Same as PP, I put breast milk on it and gave her a little wipe down with water every day.

  • Poor Pollie woke up after sleeping four hours and started nursing. She got the hiccups and then kept hiccuping which would cause her to unlatch which would then make her mad and fussy. Poor thing couldn't figure out how to manage her hiccups and her hunger

Harper refused a to nap anywhere but on me, so I've  been logging a ton of couch time. Started watching Outdaughtered. Anyone else watching this?

@vinerie If your changing pad stains are BF poop, just put them outside in full sun for a day and it will bleach out. Sunlight is great for getting rid of BF spit up and poop stains. I also recommend baby oxyclean if you can find it (it's different than the normal stuff). I've been able to save a lot of outfits using it.

And then when you have 2 you realize you were silly to think you were ever tired with just a newborn! Toddlers are so fun..
I know, what the hell!? My toddler is insane. Like padded walls insane..
  • It's a week into June... Have we all had our babies??
I was one of the last, but also saw another couple come in after me that was hanging out with me on the late May due dates and overdue threads, so we might all be done!

Guys: Nipple pads recos needed. I think we discussed the merits of disposable vs washable a while back but I'm nearing the end of my pack of lansinoh disposables and can't find that thread. Any brands you recommend?
Bamboobies ftw. I HATE the disposable pads. I have a ton and don't want them to go to waste, but the bamboobies are sooooooo much nicer.

There's a few regulars that haven't posted birth announcements yet...or if they have, I totally missed them...
@Knottie70010763 and @emma+karen come to mind.
  • Guys! I've got a recommendation!
its the app rain rain, it has ambient rain sounds that go on a loop (rain in a forest, thunderstorm, etc) Ezra loves it! Even if he's fussy it calms him down so he isn't totally losing his cool. And it's free!
  • DH said the other night "how do people survive without pacifiers?" I said "tranquilizers"

I was totally against them at first too! Now they are the best thing that has ever happen to us!!

I really miss having @laurenmdrn16 around... so much so that I feel a bit like a creeper.

Ours likes the advent soothies. We tried regular kind a few times and he didn't like them and haven't tried since.

Mine either! I even bought all different brands. I keep trying every now and again but this baby gets super offended every single time.

Same here and I desperately wish he would take one because he wants to comfort nurse all day and night especially since he's been having gas pain. Is there any cheat to getting them to take the paci like putting breastmilk on the end (just thought of that and totally trying it next time)?

My LO will not take a pacifier! She even gets offended if I offer her my pinky to suck on. She also hates being swaddled. It amazes me how much she seems to "know her own mind" and what she wants and doesn't want already. She's clearly her mother's daughter. It does make soothing her a challenge (we've only got 3/5 S's to work with) but we're used to it so it doesn't feel harder per se. We do lots of rocking, bouncing, shushing, and wearing!

The breast milk trick didnt work for us but it's definitely worth trying! We've tried 3 different brands before I gave up. She found her thumb for a minute the other day and it made me wonder/worry if she will be a thumb sucker instead. It seems a harder habit to break since you can't send her thumb to the paci fairy when it's time to quit..

I also heard to give it to them when they were calm vs just trying when upset. Now my LO will take every once in awhile
